all creative works

this is old, and also unfinished. i think i was just in the mood for drawing dresses at the time

Some Reasons ppl can and do ship Problematic™ ships

- bc fiction has problems and stories need problems

- bc the characters used to be healthy and the dynamic is still interesting whether they fix it or not

- bc it was never healthy but the dynamic is still interesting

- bc loving a character isnt the same as loving and protecting a real person (“if you love *insert character* how can u ship–” BECAUSE I’M ALLOWED TO WANT THAT STORY.)

- bc they frikkin look hot together when they fight

- bc the shipper wants to observe how the characters handle it bc that’s what literary exploration IS

- yes, sometimes bc coping

- there’s a good argument that all creative work is coping for the human experience, period, it’s what humans DO

- or bc not coping, but invested in the situation in general

     - professional curiosity

     - artistic/personal/relevant curiosity

     - or ya know just plain curiosity

- bc the world would literally be way worse off if humans could not imagine and envision any situation and work out all aspects of it in a fictional, simulation setting, bc ignorance is not bliss

- bc they can, watcha gonna do, and it’s not for you to judge if their reason is good enough for YOU and it’s super arrogant/presumptuous to assume otherwise

kinda want to do some social media edits for modern dregs…also kinda want to go to sleep

What about a heads up...

… concerning future videos and the podcast?

Here it is: I am currently working “full steam” on my video-series “What About?” about photography. The first couple of episodes - two are already online here - are especially targeted towards beginning photographers - but don’t you worry, we will be going IN DEPTH in this as well.
And of course, I’ll be happy with trying to answer any kind of photography related questions. Either here or - if better done via video on my YouTube channel http://youtube.com/c/tvoomphotography/. So please don’t hesitate to send questions.

Since these videos are all very short (5-7 minutes), I hope to be able to publish one video per week soon.
The podcast will be of course also mostly about photography, but is intended to cover a more broad spectrum of all creative “work”. And since (for whatever reason) some of my very old posts about photography on this blog got a bit of attention lately, I will probably even already start audio-podcasting in March (in case I got all the tech-side covered).

So… yeah… that just that you know what is going on ;)

P.S.: Since there were quite some questions about this lately, I will throw in a German episode in the podcast here and there. I have no clue whether there is some bigger interest about that, so if you are interested in a German podcast, then please drop me a note!

Also: If you’d like to be ON the podcast (pre-recorded and edited) with me (or be part of an “In Conversation” live-stream with Fern @qbn-scholar and me - the next episode is scheduled for February 25th, and you can find the last streams here), please send me a message. It would be more than a pleasure to be talking with you.

Milu Correch is a young Argentinian painter and illustrator who lives and works in Buenos Aires. She always drew as a kid until about a few years ago when she attended a workshop on muralism given by  Lean Frizzera and Emy Mariani, two street artists she admired. Soon after, she was translating her images from her sketch pad to city walls. Her walls got bigger and better with time.

Call for Submissions - Pink Things Vol. III: POC

PSA: Writers are artists too.

People seem to think that reposting artwork or other graphics is stealing, but that doing the same for writing isn’t? Or that you can’t ‘steal’ writing, just because it’s easy to copy? Or the written word is not as important as visual works, so stealing it is okay, and this is not true.

These are two issues I’ve noticed with this that are growing increasingly common:

  • Firstly: there is this popular trend going about, particularly with roleplayers, that they use someone else’s writing, whether it be poetry or a quote or something, in the caption section of their roleplay promotions / advertisements, but they don’t credit the source. They’ll give credit (sometimes) for the image(s) they used for the promo, but not the writing – as if one deserves credit and the other doesn’t? I’ve now seen my own work used in the caption of someone’s promo – without credit. It was just two lines from a much longer poem, but it is still MY work and while my rules state on my poetry blog people can use my writing for various things, I require credit for anything. Not doing so is STEALING and REPOSTING someone’s work. It doesn’t take much effort to put in a credit, either. If a writer doesn’t even want you to use their writing, regardless of credit, and you do so anyway, that is also stealing.

  • Secondly, and this is even more predominant: Musing blogs ( a couple in particular ) seem to think it is okay to REPOST someone else’s poetry, writing, etc. into a musing post; again, without credit, without question or permission. THIS IS NOT OKAY. Just because it’s THERE and it’s writing doesn’t mean you can do whatever you like to or with it. Musing blogs who take writing from other sources and just repost it as a musing post for others to reblog are illegitimately using other people’s work. This is theft. I have also had to deal with someone making a musing out of my writing, without credit or permission, and they just thought it was?? okay?? to take?? someone else’s writing?? and post it?? as your own???

WRITING IS JUST AS IMPORTANT AND ORIGINAL AS ARTWORK AND GRAPHICS! IT IS NOT ANY MORE ‘OKAY’ TO COPY-PASTE SOMEONE ELSE’S WRITING THAN IT IS TO UPLOAD A PICTURE SOMEONE ELSE DREW ON YOUR BLOG WITHOUT PERMISSION OR CREDIT.

Please stop thinking you can do whatever you want with whatever you find.
