Halfway through TNM episode 5. The series was so well done. Everyone is spot on. Tom is, of course, great, but I feel he was outshined by some of his other castmates. Hugh is amazing. Olivia–yeah, she needs more awards. Just give them all to her. Elizabeth Debicki is beautiful, but she felt a little flat to me. Maybe it’s because I’m just not fond of Jed to begin with. Alistair Petrie– also amazing. And finally, I’m glad Tom Hollander is nominated for the Bafta. Because he is fantastic and needs an award for Corky. Tom got his time to shine at the GGs (yes, I thought he deserved that award, even with the others in his category).

Other supporting actors were spot on. Photography, music, other tech stuff was great.

Big Hero 6/Iron Giant parallels

So when I saw Big Hero 6 for the first time, one thing stood out to me in many of the scenes: Big Hero 6 and Iron Giant have a lot in common. I’m going to try and compile as many parallels in this post as I can find, maybe updating it as I find more.

First off, some minor stuff with the main cast:

Hiro Hamada vs Hogarth Hughes - Young, mischevious protagonist, broken family - Hiro has a thing for robots and Hogarth has a thing for pets/small animals. Both start out very violent but become more gentle as the story progresses.

Aunt Cass vs Annie Hughes - Single mother-figure who works in a restaurant, very stressed out taking care of Hiro/Hogarth

Alistair Krei vs Kent Mansley - Big shot with a big nose who screws everything up, ends up driving the conflict and leads to the loss of Baymax/Giant.
