TONIGHT! I Like Your Glasses Too: One Hot Summer with CoverSpy and Alikewise

Doors at 7PM at Housing Works Bookstore Café (126 Crosby Street between Houston and Prince, New York). Get there early because the first fifty get a free drink; Sixpoint beer is only $3 a cup after that thanks to a generous donation from Sixpoint Craft Ales. All proceeds will benefit Housing Works in their continued efforts to fight AIDS and homelessness.

Then stick around for giveaways from Tumblr #Lit and a summer-themed reading from some of our favorite fellow Tumblrs: Emily Gould, author of And the Heart Says Whatever and Things I Ate That I Love, Maris Kreizman of Slaughterhouse 90210, and Dan Wilbur of Better Book Titles.

THEN head over to the after-party at Botanica Bar (around the corner on Houston between Mulberry and Mott), where you can buy a dark & stormy (soooo good and gingery at Botanica) for that Michael Chabon reader in the tortoiseshells. Drinks will be $1 off all night with a booktag from the event!

Next Thursday! The nerdtastic social event of the fall! It’s like grown-up homecoming and you don’t even have to spike the punch, we’ve taken care of that: thanks to Alikewise, the first 50 get a free drink from sponsor Sixpoint Craft Ales. PLUS a reading of miseducations and leasons learned by Alison Espach and Aryn Kyle, school-portrait photo booth with lasers, and after-party (just in case you need a minute more to work up the nerve to talk to that cute Vonnegut fan) with drink specials all night at our neighbor, Botanica Bar.

RSVP on Facebook. All the info at Housing Works : I Like Your New Glasses: Hit the Books with CoverSpy and Alikewise.

We interrupt our regular voyeurism to announce CoverSpy is hosting our first event! I Like Your Glasses, a lit-nerd party at Housing Works!

You’ve met the readers for I Like Your Glasses (which is tomorrow!) and our generous and delicious beer sponsor, Sixpoint (in addition to Sweet Action we’ll have a special small-batch brew!) but how about the other hosts? First up, our co-hosts, Alikewise. Alikewise is “the dating site that finds your match based on their book tastes. Anything from cooking to politics to great literature – Alikewise is for active minds. It’s dating by the book.” If you’re too far from NYC to make it to I Like Your Glasses, Alikewise is the same thing but on the Internet. Any CoverSpy fan looking for love should try it out – it’s free to join!

And our amazing venue: Housing Works Bookstore Cafe. “One of downtown New York’s most vital cultural institutions, presenting an eclectic mix of events – from readings and concerts to comedy nights and storytelling competitions – featuring many of today’s most exciting artists. The bookstore is staffed almost entirely by volunteers and 100 percent of its profits go to Housing Works, Inc., which provides housing, health care, job training, and advocacy for New Yorkers living with HIV/AIDS.” That’s right – all the beer you buy at I Like Your Glasses will go to support their cause. Hang out at the cafe any time and you’re liable to be spied.

I Like Your Glasses: Connections Missed and Made with CoverSpy and Alikewise, Thursday, February 10, 7PM at Housing Works Bookstore Cafe. With Sweet Action beer thanks to our generous sponsor, Sixpoint Brewery, and afterparty at Botanica Bar!
