I’ve always had a problem with authority based on basic historical patterns. Those in power, throughout history, have been corrupt. I don’t remember when I stopped feeling intimidated by anyone. I don’t remember the last time I felt intimidated by anyone. I don’t see why some feel they are superior to others on the basis of things like thinking they have socially preferable class, gender, race or anything out of their control.

A lot still needs to happen for things to be equal. Women still don’t earn as much as men. Women’s place in most industries has been overshadowed and rewritten by men in a sense that we’re seen as nurturers and muses and not inventors in our own right. I’d like to see more women in positions of power who get to decide on behalf of other women. As in the case of abortion, there is mostly men who preside over this and it seems weird to me that men get to decide what women should do with their bodies. I don’t think they’d like it if it were reversed.

I think a lot of them sell sex to children. I think a lot of kids are more sexualized now than they were years ago and I’m not sure it’s a coincidence. Like fucking Katy Perry spraying people with her fucking dick, her fucking cum gun cumming on fucking children. And little girls, like six-year-old girls wearing a shirt with ‘I wanna see your [pea] cock’ on it.

Oppression is a theme, in general… A lot of bad things have happened to people close to me since the 2nd album and it’s profoundly influenced my writing as I’ve realized there will never be justice for them. I didn’t think I could lose faith in humanity any more than I already had, but after witnessing some things, it feels like the world is a dystopia where victims don’t get justice and corruption prevails. I’m one step away from being a vigilante to protect people and bring justice to the people I love. I’ve thought about it.

AIDS Wolf, Kleenex, Necros, Heavens to Betsy, Xiu Xiu, the Sick Lipstick, Discharge, and Carcass should all be on TV. There should also be a hall of fame for riot grrrl bands like Bratmobile. There should be a museum full of [the band’s founder] Allison Wolfe’s lyric books and guitars. Not the Eagles.
