THIS IS THE CITY MUSEUM IN SAINT LOUIS MISSOURI.
IF YOU ARE EVER IN THE AREA, YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST GO THERE.
These pictures don’t even begin to do the place justice. This place is what happens when a bunch of artists get their hands on an abandoned shoe factory and a bunch of money- try to image an eleven-story building rife with huge, rideable industrial slides running from floor to ceiling, peppered with fifteen foot sculptures of chameleons and gargoyles and bears and fish, woven throughout with a massive maze of hamster tunnels made of rebars, an extensive network of “subterranean” caves, more secret entrances and exits and trapdoors and hidden passages than you can possibly count, two airplanes, a schoolbus hanging halfway off a roof, and a super-speed ferris wheel, and maybe you’ll be sort of almost imagining 1% of this place.
You can climb in, climb on, or ride every single thing pictured and described, and you TOTALLY SHOULD. I did, and I’m sore and bruised and scraped, but it was absolutely amazing. I just wish there were some way to convey how cool this place actually is.
