Hello. Glad to find this blog. Can you please suggest Vocabulary Flash Cards ideas?
So, this is an example of how I make Vocabulary flashcards. :—)
Make sure it is big and at the top/center of the index card. This way, it is the first thing you see.
Make it noticeable! Noticeable, but not too flashy. Just easy on the eyes.
SYLLABLES & PRONOUNCIATION
This is important and very helpful, especially if you’re making vocabulary flashcards for a foreign language. Although, even when we are studying a common language, we tend to have mistakes in pronouncing words correctly.
Of course! The definition must come from the best reliable sources. (e.g.: Wikipedia, Merriam and Webster, etc.)
If you are not that familiar on heavy words (just like me), you search for definitions here! This is Simple Wikipedia, a user-converted Wikipedia, which is easy to read and easy to understand because it is written in Simple English.
DO NOT write a definition you do not understand completely. Make sure that what you write down on your flashcards is something that you understand. Otherwise, you will have a hard time when you’re reviewing.
This is just to understand the word in terms of usage. Sometimes, we do get what the words mean, but we cannot easily use it in a sentence.
This will help you formulate your own sentences!
After making your vocabulary flashcards, try to use at least 3 words from the stack and use it in your sentences throughout the day. This way, you can assure that you do know what the words mean, and that you do know how to use them.
Hope this helped! Let us know if you need anything else!
