“I had done a lot photos for Hole and when it was time for their first album Courtney wanted something striking and unusual. I had been experimenting with color infrared film. It is a medical film used to make images of skin and eyes. The veins show from beneath the skin! So, it is possible to get very beautiful images and/or horrible strange visions. Exposure is the key, so Courtney and I did some tests. She loved them and we then shot the photos for the cover of Pretty on the Inside. The colors you see on that cover are just as they appeared on the film. The trees went all pink!”
Located in Los Angeles, California, The Canfield-Moreno Estate, also commonly known as The Paramour Mansion, was once the scene for a number of extravagant high society parties. The lavish mansion was also used as a set for Halloween H20: 20 Years Later, Intolerable Cruelty, and Scream 3. It has also been used as a recording studio by a number of recording artists including Gwen Stefani, My Chemical Romance, Sting, and Elton John. The grand estate is also said to be haunted. The band, My Chemical Romance, were set to record their album “The Black Parade” inside the mansion when they experienced a number of odd occurrences - disembodied dogs barking, doors inexplicably slamming closed, bathtubs filling with water, and night terrors. The lead singer, Gerard Way, said he awoke in the middle of the night and felt as though somebody was strangling him. This bizarre experience became the inspiration for the song, “Sleep.”
i love how crash love is so heavily hated, but “it was mine” and “darling, i want to destroy you” are two very well written songs and two of the best imo that they have ever produced. elegantly composed, davey’s voice is crisp, all of the instruments sound great, and the lyrics have a lot of meaning behind them.
yeah, AFI doesn’t necessitate to the former 90s “punk” genre anymore. but please tell me when you heard another song or band that sounds like anything AFI has produced in the last eight years. i’ll wait.
i won’t wait for you another night, but i’ll wait.
