I am so sorry to be a bother, but can you recommend anything for people who break out ALL OVER when menstruating? Like my upper chest, chin, nose, and my forehead. It makes me want to hide for about 2 weeks while everything heals

You’re not a bother at all, I’m here to help! :>

Hands down the best product I’ve ever used for bad breakouts is Alba Botanica’s Acnedote line. I talk about it in this post and this video. To help reduce scarring and help the skin heal after the breakout has gone down, I would recommend doing sheet masks. They’re saturated in so much nutrition. Maybe stick to key ingredients like Q-10, collagen, honey, and aloe to give the skin what it needs to repair itself. My favorite brands for sheet masks are My Beauty Diary and Naisture.

Good luck!

Throwback to 2001…when I was 11 :’) -Story time

By the time I turned 11 I had already been telling everybody I was going to be a botanist for years…and I would spend a good part of my free time doing things that made other kids think I was a weirdo…like that time I decided I was going to write and illustrate a pocket-sized plant identification manual, you can see the first three pages above (in Italian, my first language), they had been hiding for years and popped up around Christmas.

I’m sure I was 11 as I picked up the ridiculous handwriting from the person who’s still my best friend, and we met that year in school. Plants were not my only main focus though, I have also always wanted to learn as much as possible about languages and people, history and culture and loved writing, so things got complicated when I had to start seriously thinking about my university education. That was 2008, right when the worst financial crisis since the ‘29 was hitting us. My family was struggling at the time and Italy is infamous for the quantity of funds allocated to scientific research, so I can honestly say I felt the pressure to go for the option which would potentially marry some of my interests and the chance to become a successful individual in the Western sense of the term -lots and lots of moneyyy- to be able to give back, and that’s how I ended up going for what looked like the ideal solution. Language mediation and intercultural communication at Milan’s University. English and Mandarin, languages of the present and future, we were saying. I studied anthropology, cultural sociology, international law and so on, and imagined myself working as an interpreter at ONU or somewhere in China conducting social studies. Around that period I also met a Dutch-Taiwanese friend and her mother, a Dutch born Chinese interpreter, whereas I didn’t know a single botanist…

Well, now I am a graduate (been for a while…), a much more opinionated and different person, I’m in Scotland (for the moment), and I’m still writing about plants. I wonder what the future holds…

Hi Margaux! :) I've tried SO MANY natural/vegan deodorants, but haven't found one that seems to work... What type do you suggest to use??

TBH I rarely use deodorant except sometimes in summer but the one I have is alba botanica tea tree it’s aluminium free as well as paraben and propylene glycol free 😊 and it’s a stick so not an aerosol spray 🌿🌏

My best friends at the end of the day.

Neutrogena’s Bi-facial Cleanser/Mask
- I’ve been using this product for years. I rarely use it as a face mask, but I use it daily as a cleanser. I have rather large pores, so this really cleanses and shrinks them. I can’t see myself using any other cleanser, honestly.

Loreal’s Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover
- I actually bought this product a week ago. Originally, I was using Rimell London’s Eye Makeup Remover, also oil-free, but I decided to take a chance and try something new.  This product is just as efficient; the bottle is larger, don’t need much to remove makeup, and is oil-free, too - I can’t complain.

Alba Botanica Facial Toner
-
My sister recomended this toner to me – INCREDIBLE! I use this product after I use the face cleanser, goes really well together, I think. I have oily combination skin, so this product balances out my skin. I like that this product is not alcohol-based, so there’s no feeling of a burning sensation when applied. It feels really light and fresh on my skin.

Of course, everyone’s skin is different, but for me, these products work wonders. I can’t go a day without them.

쉬머짱's Know-How: Reduce Pores and Fight Acne!

Hello everyone! This will be my follow-up post for MY SKIN CARE ROUTINE post. Click the link if you wanna check it out. <3

Pimples used to be just a teenage problem. Most of us thought that pimples will eventually stop popping out once we passed the puberty stage. But they seem to love our faces and decide not to leave even after our teenage years! Errr. Well in my opinion, pollution has become greater and so the harm it brings to our skin has become worse as well~ T__T

Due to the extremely hot weather, the skin tends to get very oily! Oily skin and huge pores make us prone to acne. Dirt tends to set in our pores and get trapped! Acne is so annoying and so here are some of the ways I do to get rid of them~! <3

Before all that, what causes ACNE?

  • Hormonal Imbalance
  • Inadequate Diet (Eating food with too much fats and oil.)
  • Pollution/Dirt
  • Cosmetic Chemicals ex: Talc/Parabens/Fragrance/Lanolin etc. (For extra sensitive skin)
  • Improper Skin Care Routine.

THINGS YOU NEED:

1. Lab 46 Skin Care Facial Wash with Benzoyl Peroxide/Clindamycin

2. Alba Botanica Natural Acnedote Astringent with Salicylic Acid or Krave Minerale Anti-Zit Splash (No Alcohol and  Non-comedogenic)

3. Duac Gel Acne Gel or Clean&Clear Acne Gel with Salicyclic Acid/Benzoyl Peroxide/Clindamycin

It does not have to be the same products above, though those stuff there are the ones that work for me. Always remember that you have to check the ingredients of the products you buy, it should contain very little chemical or if there’s no chemical, then it is much better~!

STEPS:

1. Wash your face with your Anti-acne Facial Cleanser and massage it all through out the face for a minute. Note that Facial Cleansers for sensitive skin do not foam up because they don’t have chemicals that gives the foam/bubbles. Pat dry with a clean towel. >_<

2. Using a cotton pad, apply a small amount of astringent/toner all over the face. Don’t drown your cotton pad with a lot of product~! kkkk~ <3 Then leave the cotton pad on the troubled area for a minute. Some anti-acne toners would sting, but it’s natural. It’s a part of the pimple-killing process~!

3. Skip moisturizing because our main goal is to dry the pimple up for it to be totally gone. I prefer not applying any essence or moisturizer on to the troubled area for it to dry.

4. Apply the acne gel only to the troubled areas and not on the entire face! <3

Note: If you have a different everyday skin care routine like me, then discontinue it and switch to this Acne Treatment for a while. When the pimples have dried up and eliminated, then go back to your normal skin care regimen.

During the acne treatment which will last for about two weeks, you will experience extreme dryness but since we really wanted that to happen, then we should skip everyday moisturizing. To solve that, here are some things we can use ONCE a week.

1. Skin Food Mask Sheet - soothes troubled skin and balances moisture to avoid flaking. You can use this once or twice a week whenever you feel like your skin is crazily flaking. It has Berry Oil that will minimize redness.

2. Holika Holika Medi-Medi Magnesium Pack - use this every weekends after a long stressful week of work. This will help minimize your pores and it really leaves the skin smoother and less reddish.

You can also use other facial masks and Clay wash off packs, just note that it should be non-comedogenic so it won’t aggravate the pimples you are trying to heal.

See you in my next post and don’t forget to join my ongoing MAKEUP Giveaway!!

My skin has radically changed in the past 2 weeks & even more so in the past 2 days so I figured I should talk about my skincare routine!

1)Trader Joe’s jojoba oil: I use this to remove my makeup and as a moisturizer for any dry patches on my arms. I just rub it all over my face then with a hot wet washcloth remove it all.

2)Alba Botanica Acnedote Deep Pore Wash: This is an amazing tingly wash I use after the oil–it has witch hazel, willow bark (salicylic acid) and nettle to decongest & kill bacteria. Plus it serves as a natural exfoliant.

3) Mario Badescu Seaweed cleansing lotion: This toner is the best! It has witch hazel for minimizing pores & aloe to soothe which is perfect because after the alba botanica wash and toner–my face was peeling off in sheets! This calmed redness and hydrated nicely.

4)Alba Botanica Acnedote oil control lotion: I use this after the MB toner, when used with the Alba toner it was too drying but paired with a hydrating toner it does it’s magic. It has salicylic acid as well! Plus a plethora of herbs to keep your skin clean!

5) Clearasil rapid vanishing treatment cream & Mario Badescu buffering lotion: I use the Clearasil benzoyl peroxide cream on spots under my makeup and use the MB buffering lotion overnight on cystic pimples or erupted areas. Honestly it’s the fastest treatment & it’s only $17. It’s sulfur based for clearing bacteria deep down in the pore & contains allantoin to heal & get rid of hyper pigmentation…all I do is shake it then use a drop size on my finger to gently drench the affected area. So easy, no stinging and gets rid of my breakouts overnight. I have hormonal cysts too. It’s a lifesaver.

**not pictured: Alba Botanica Acnedote astringent–which I use on spots that are “open”/“post-popped” to heal and close up because of all the lentil, witch hazel & licorice.

**not pictured: Mario Badescu Whitening Mask–this kaolin mask is packed with licorice, mulberry & other healing properties for clearing skin and evening tone!

A big thank you to newvagabond & popkiller for all the recommendations! You helped clear my skin!

incorporateyourself  asked:

I have really sensitive, acne prone skin. Right now it's suuuper dry and flaky. Do you have any products to recommend that i can use to moisturize? Something that doesn't make my skin too oily or greasy or extremely shiny like most products do.

My top recommendation right now is definitely Meishoku Organic Rose, specifically their skin conditioning gel, which I talk about in this video as well as some of their other products.

My skin is acne prone too and though it tends to be on the oilier side most of the time, it can dry out pretty fast and this gel has been so amazing. It moisturizes like a lotion but sinks in like a gel. Doesn’t leave any shinies or stickies and helps keep the skin elastic and strong. I use it during the day/in the morning mostly.

BUT if you also wanna focus on controlling the acne too, Alba Botanica’s oil control lotion might help you a lot. I just wonder if it might not have enough moisture for you, hmm. It definitely moisturizes well but it’s designed for oil and acne control so it’s got willow bark (salicylic acid) for that.

There’s a longer video here where I talk about all of my acne care recs and in this long post I do a breakdown of Alba Botanica’s products as well as some others.

Hope that helps!

Omg, my old videos are so shitty compared to my newer style of vlogging BUT this one is still good because I talk about Alba Botanica’s ACNEdote line, which is a line that has REALLY kept my acne breakouts down the best out of any line I’ve ever bought.

Also guest star Jeremy.

to the black head anon. Go buy alba botanica astringent. Evereytime I had a really bad blakc head that shit popped it right out. DON"T TOUCH YOUR FACE. It will push it out.

As good as Alba Botanica’s ethics/ingredients look I can’t really say i’d recommend it because of the first ingredient. Salicylic acid at 2% (even though is within the range for over the counter products) can be a little harsh. Also the next ingredient is water which means you are basically paying 11 dollars for acid and mostly filler. The other ingredients are all good ones that can help unclog pores but I would definitley be wary of using something that could bother your face. But anon you should make the decision! Here’s links to both!

Do you know any good (cheap!) cleansers for people with oily skin??

Yes! I have oily skin and I used to use the Origins Zero Oil Cleanser which I considered holy grail and then I found an even better option that was only $6! Alba Botanica Good and Clean Foaming Cleanser is amazing and I’ve tried other products from the line and they’ve all been really good and usually under $10.

anonymous asked:

Are some of alba botanica's products vegan? :/ I'm using their acnedote stuff at the moment, at least until I run out, but I can really find any decent information about the company's veganism or lack thereof. The products say "100% vegetarian" on them, and as far as I can tell they don't rest on animals. Do you know anything more?

Most of their stuff is vegan friendly, but here is a direct quote from their website on what 100% vegetarian means:
“We love our furry (and feathered and scaley and buggy) friends.  For this reason, we never test our products or ingredients on animals.  In addition, our products contain no meat or by-products of animal killing.  We also exclude all cruelly obtained animal ingredients, even if the animal is not killed.  We limit our use of animal products to ingredients that are deposited by and have no future benefit to the animal, such as beeswax. ”

I don’t know how they would obtain supposedly ethical beeswax. Perhaps I should email them and find out what the heck that even means? Beeswax is never ethical.

I do own some sunscreens by alba, and Love them! I think it’s okay to support their vegan products, just make sure to watch out for beeswax (or something else they think they can obtain “ethically” such as lanolin)

Does anyone use products by Alba Botanica?

Hi guys,

I guess you can get them at Whole Foods and was thinking about buying a million face/skin care one’s since I’m breaking out everywhere and I’m in need of a new brand anyways. It looks really organic and it says it’s vegetarian (which I’m not particularly searching for but if it is then, yay!) So I was wondering if anyone has tried.

Like? Yay or nay?

Happy #crueltyfreefriday!

This week I ran out of makeup remover wipes. I use these wipes every night to take off my makeup before bed. I am just too lazy to wash my face at night. I bet there are people who wash their face twice a day and I bet their skin looks great. Anyway, I wanted my new makeup remover wipes to be convenient in price and availability because I use them everyday and seem to purchase them every other week. I had been using Simple brand but they are not cruelty free so it was time to look elsewhere. I have been using e.l.f makeup remover cleansing cloths and alba botanica good & clean towelettes. I like both products and would repurchase both the next time I run out. The alba botanica wipes also offer more specialized towelettes for breakouts that I would like to try. The e.l.f wipes can be found at Target, Walgreens, Marshall’s and TJ Maxx. The alba botanica towelettes can be found at Walmart, Walgreens, Whole Foods and Target.
