francysveganvibes  asked:

What are for you the best vegan beauty and skin products' brands?

Alba Botanica. All the way.

I’ve tried so many products… and this is the only brand I’ve found that I really, really like. No harsh reactions, it’s the first winter I can remember not having dry skin - the moisturizer is a dream. I’m such a fan of their stuff.

Here’s what I use: the scrub, wash, and moisturizer:

Alba Botanica SPF 45 sunscreen.
I love this stuff. It is all natural; without all of the chemicals most sunscreens have. It also does not contain any animal products, nor is it tested on animals! It even has a great smell to it, not the generic sunscreen smell. It goes on great, without leaving your skin with that greasy feel. I will definitely buy this again!

These are a few of our favorite things...

I wanted to share a few things that we use every day with 6 month old Drew.

  1. Earth’s Best Oatmeal & Rice Cereal: We love their cereal, both taste very good. Drew will have a bowl of rice & a bowl of oatmeal every day.
  2. Green Sprouts Sippy Cup: A Perfect size for his little hands. He is so cute when he holds onto it with both hands and drinks from it.
  3. Boon Counter Top Grass Drying Rack: A friend had said great things about this drying rack, and I am so glad that we bought it! It’s nice to have the baby’s bowls, spoons & bottles separated from the dishes.
  4. Natural Corn Infant Spoons: These spoons ROCK.
  5. Green Sprouts Stacking Cup SetThese cups are awesome. They keep Drew entertained for long periods of time while he’s sitting in his high chair. We haven’t used them in the bathtub yet, but when we do, I’m sure they’ll be a hit with the water holes!
  6. Julie Andrews’ Collection of Poems, Songs, Lullabies: The husband’s grandmother would read poetry to the boys when they were little. This collection is so sweet, and it even comes with a cd of Julie Andrews reading them.
  7. Kokopax City Carrier: So practical when grocery shopping, cooking dinner, or watching tennis matches! Drew is very happy seeing the world this way. {I only wish I had purchased one with a waist strap…}
  8. Sophie the Giraffe: Great for teething. Sophie is a big hit.
  9. Zutano Booties & Hat: I can’t say enough good things about these booties. Best purchase I’ve EVER made. Drew wears these everyday. Seriously.
  10. Weleda Calendula Diaper Care: Our favorite cream. Smells amazing. Works wonders on diaper rash, wind burn, etc. Will never use anything other than Weleda.
  11. Alba Botanica Multi-Jelly: We’ve been using this since day 1.
  12. Haba Kringlering Clutching Toy: A perfect size teething toy, and he’s starting to shake it to hear the rattle.
  13. Miyim Bear Teether: It’s organic! Great material, and I’m sure it feels good on his gums. Drew loves it.
  14. Skip Hop Cow Chime Toy: This stays in the car, it’s big enough for him to reach and grab if it slips out of his hands, and he spends a good amount of time “talking” to the label, no idea why!
Cruelty Free Skincare Favorites

Hey friends, today I have a bit of a skincare review/recommendations for you. Keep in mind, my skin type is extremely oily, but also sensitive. Hopefully, some of my tried-and-true skincare favorites will become yours too! Everything I use is under $20, and most of it is under $10.

1. Alba Botanica Good and Clean Daily Detox cleanser

This has been my go-to cleanser for about two years. It’s very thick in consistency, almost like toothpaste. It smells really good and citrusy! It lathers up really nice and thick, and it feels like it gets rid of every bit of makeup, grease, and anything else on my face. I seriously cannot recommend this cleanser enough! This does contain honey, so it’s not vegan. (around $7 at Target)

2. Acure Brightening Facial Scrub

My skin is weird and gets really build-up-y and bumpy very quickly, so I have to exfoliate a lot. I use this scrub from Acure almost every night! I really used to like St. Ives’ peach scrub because it was so gritty, and this scrub has a really similar texture. It smells very herbal, but I really like the scent. 100% vegan. (Around $10 at Target)

3.  T. N. Dickinson’s Witch Hazel

Since my skin is so oily, I really like to use witch hazel as a toner. It smells interesting… it’s hard to describe. Medicinal and herbal, but clean. It feels really soothing on my skin, and it doesn’t sting at all, which is nice because my skin is also really sensitive. 100% vegan (around $6 at drugstores)

4. Alba Botanica Hawaiian Aloe and Green Tea moisturizer

This has been one of my favorite moisturizers since high school, I always come back to it. Even though I have really oily skin, I hate mattifying moisturizers. They make my skin feel weird? But this moisturizer is the perfect balance of hydrating without making my skin greasy. It’s oil free and hypoallergenic, and it feels so nice and lightweight. The only thing I don’t like is that it’s in a jar, which is kind of germy. 100% vegan (around $15 at Target)

5. DermaE Very Clear acne spot treatment

This is one of the few spot treatments I’ve used that is effective but doesn’t make my skin sting like a bitch. When I have a pimple, which, I usually do, I put this stuff on and it goes away within a day or two. It doesn’t dry out my skin to the point that it becomes flaky, which is really nice. 100% vegan. (around $11 at Target)

6. Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay

This is the clay mask that has been making its rounds on the internet for a while, and for good reason! It’s very reasonably priced for a huge amount of product, and you can customize what you mix with the clay to make it work for your skin. It’s definitely not a “relaxing” facial mask; honestly it kind of makes your skin feel so tight while it’s on that you can feel your pulse in your face. But it is so amazing at pulling out any grease and blemish in your skin. Since I’ve been using this stuff regularly, I have no blackheads on my nose and the amount of breakouts I have has gone way down. Once you rinse it off, your skin is so glowing and soft. Since I have oily skin, I mix it with equal parts clay and apple cider vinegar. 100% vegan. (Around $8 at health food stores and online for 1 pound of clay)

And that’s pretty much all I use! The first three things are what I use every time I wash my face, while the last two are just used on an as needed basis. I usually use the face mask 1-2 times a week, depending on how my skin looks and feels. I am still looking for a couple of good products, so if you can recommend 1. a sunscreen that’s good for oily skin and 2. a good eye cream, I would be so grateful!

My best friends at the end of the day.

Neutrogena’s Bi-facial Cleanser/Mask
- I’ve been using this product for years. I rarely use it as a face mask, but I use it daily as a cleanser. I have rather large pores, so this really cleanses and shrinks them. I can’t see myself using any other cleanser, honestly.

Loreal’s Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover
- I actually bought this product a week ago. Originally, I was using Rimell London’s Eye Makeup Remover, also oil-free, but I decided to take a chance and try something new.  This product is just as efficient; the bottle is larger, don’t need much to remove makeup, and is oil-free, too - I can’t complain.

Alba Botanica Facial Toner
My sister recomended this toner to me – INCREDIBLE! I use this product after I use the face cleanser, goes really well together, I think. I have oily combination skin, so this product balances out my skin. I like that this product is not alcohol-based, so there’s no feeling of a burning sensation when applied. It feels really light and fresh on my skin.

Of course, everyone’s skin is different, but for me, these products work wonders. I can’t go a day without them.

쉬머짱's Know-How: Reduce Pores and Fight Acne!

Hello everyone! This will be my follow-up post for MY SKIN CARE ROUTINE post. Click the link if you wanna check it out. <3

Pimples used to be just a teenage problem. Most of us thought that pimples will eventually stop popping out once we passed the puberty stage. But they seem to love our faces and decide not to leave even after our teenage years! Errr. Well in my opinion, pollution has become greater and so the harm it brings to our skin has become worse as well~ T__T

Due to the extremely hot weather, the skin tends to get very oily! Oily skin and huge pores make us prone to acne. Dirt tends to set in our pores and get trapped! Acne is so annoying and so here are some of the ways I do to get rid of them~! <3

Before all that, what causes ACNE?

  • Hormonal Imbalance
  • Inadequate Diet (Eating food with too much fats and oil.)
  • Pollution/Dirt
  • Cosmetic Chemicals ex: Talc/Parabens/Fragrance/Lanolin etc. (For extra sensitive skin)
  • Improper Skin Care Routine.

1. Lab 46 Skin Care Facial Wash with Benzoyl Peroxide/Clindamycin

2. Alba Botanica Natural Acnedote Astringent with Salicylic Acid or Krave Minerale Anti-Zit Splash (No Alcohol and  Non-comedogenic)

3. Duac Gel Acne Gel or Clean&Clear Acne Gel with Salicyclic Acid/Benzoyl Peroxide/Clindamycin

It does not have to be the same products above, though those stuff there are the ones that work for me. Always remember that you have to check the ingredients of the products you buy, it should contain very little chemical or if there’s no chemical, then it is much better~!

1. Wash your face with your Anti-acne Facial Cleanser and massage it all through out the face for a minute. Note that Facial Cleansers for sensitive skin do not foam up because they don’t have chemicals that gives the foam/bubbles. Pat dry with a clean towel. >_<

2. Using a cotton pad, apply a small amount of astringent/toner all over the face. Don’t drown your cotton pad with a lot of product~! kkkk~ <3 Then leave the cotton pad on the troubled area for a minute. Some anti-acne toners would sting, but it’s natural. It’s a part of the pimple-killing process~!

3. Skip moisturizing because our main goal is to dry the pimple up for it to be totally gone. I prefer not applying any essence or moisturizer on to the troubled area for it to dry.

4. Apply the acne gel only to the troubled areas and not on the entire face! <3

Note: If you have a different everyday skin care routine like me, then discontinue it and switch to this Acne Treatment for a while. When the pimples have dried up and eliminated, then go back to your normal skin care regimen.

During the acne treatment which will last for about two weeks, you will experience extreme dryness but since we really wanted that to happen, then we should skip everyday moisturizing. To solve that, here are some things we can use ONCE a week.

1. Skin Food Mask Sheet - soothes troubled skin and balances moisture to avoid flaking. You can use this once or twice a week whenever you feel like your skin is crazily flaking. It has Berry Oil that will minimize redness.

2. Holika Holika Medi-Medi Magnesium Pack - use this every weekends after a long stressful week of work. This will help minimize your pores and it really leaves the skin smoother and less reddish.

You can also use other facial masks and Clay wash off packs, just note that it should be non-comedogenic so it won’t aggravate the pimples you are trying to heal.

Alba Botanica Natural Hawaiian Moisture Cream with Smoothing Jasmine and Vitamin E - густой, жирный крем с божественным(!)

My skin has radically changed in the past 2 weeks & even more so in the past 2 days so I figured I should talk about my skincare routine!

1)Trader Joe’s jojoba oil: I use this to remove my makeup and as a moisturizer for any dry patches on my arms. I just rub it all over my face then with a hot wet washcloth remove it all.

2)Alba Botanica Acnedote Deep Pore Wash: This is an amazing tingly wash I use after the oil–it has witch hazel, willow bark (salicylic acid) and nettle to decongest & kill bacteria. Plus it serves as a natural exfoliant.

3) Mario Badescu Seaweed cleansing lotion: This toner is the best! It has witch hazel for minimizing pores & aloe to soothe which is perfect because after the alba botanica wash and toner–my face was peeling off in sheets! This calmed redness and hydrated nicely.

4)Alba Botanica Acnedote oil control lotion: I use this after the MB toner, when used with the Alba toner it was too drying but paired with a hydrating toner it does it’s magic. It has salicylic acid as well! Plus a plethora of herbs to keep your skin clean!

5) Clearasil rapid vanishing treatment cream & Mario Badescu buffering lotion: I use the Clearasil benzoyl peroxide cream on spots under my makeup and use the MB buffering lotion overnight on cystic pimples or erupted areas. Honestly it’s the fastest treatment & it’s only $17. It’s sulfur based for clearing bacteria deep down in the pore & contains allantoin to heal & get rid of hyper pigmentation…all I do is shake it then use a drop size on my finger to gently drench the affected area. So easy, no stinging and gets rid of my breakouts overnight. I have hormonal cysts too. It’s a lifesaver.

**not pictured: Alba Botanica Acnedote astringent–which I use on spots that are “open”/“post-popped” to heal and close up because of all the lentil, witch hazel & licorice.

**not pictured: Mario Badescu Whitening Mask–this kaolin mask is packed with licorice, mulberry & other healing properties for clearing skin and evening tone!

A big thank you to newvagabond & popkiller for all the recommendations! You helped clear my skin!

incorporateyourself  asked:

I have really sensitive, acne prone skin. Right now it's suuuper dry and flaky. Do you have any products to recommend that i can use to moisturize? Something that doesn't make my skin too oily or greasy or extremely shiny like most products do.

My top recommendation right now is definitely Meishoku Organic Rose, specifically their skin conditioning gel, which I talk about in this video as well as some of their other products.

My skin is acne prone too and though it tends to be on the oilier side most of the time, it can dry out pretty fast and this gel has been so amazing. It moisturizes like a lotion but sinks in like a gel. Doesn’t leave any shinies or stickies and helps keep the skin elastic and strong. I use it during the day/in the morning mostly.

BUT if you also wanna focus on controlling the acne too, Alba Botanica’s oil control lotion might help you a lot. I just wonder if it might not have enough moisture for you, hmm. It definitely moisturizes well but it’s designed for oil and acne control so it’s got willow bark (salicylic acid) for that.

There’s a longer video here where I talk about all of my acne care recs and in this long post I do a breakdown of Alba Botanica’s products as well as some others.

Hope that helps!

Omg, my old videos are so shitty compared to my newer style of vlogging BUT this one is still good because I talk about Alba Botanica’s ACNEdote line, which is a line that has REALLY kept my acne breakouts down the best out of any line I’ve ever bought.

TAB Beauty: Sad Eyes Be Gone With Alba Botanica’s Fast Fix!

Nothing makes you look like you’ve been drug through the fire like puffy eyes and dark circles. No matter how awesome your outfit or makeup might look, it’ll all be forgotten if your eyes leave people with the impression that you either had too good of a time last night or are stressed. When this happens, thankfully there are ways to counteract it. And now, Alba Bontanica now has a travel friendly collection of products called Fast Fix including items which promises to make your dark circles and puffy under eyes a thing of the past.

Now as someone who’s had puffy under eyes since I was in high school (thanks AP courses for making me stay up late with homework…), I was really intrigued by these products. I’m always looking for a way to keep my skin looking fresh and revived. So, when the team at Alba Botanica offered to send me two products form their Fast Fix series for puffy eyes and under eye circles, I was very interested in testing them. The premise of these mini emergency tubes is fairly straight forward. The Fast Fix for Puffy Eyes promises to reduce those annoying bags with a cooling gel that can be applied around the eye area. Likewise, Fast Fix for Under-eye Circles offers a yellow concealer that promises to melt clear into the skin and neutralize your dark circles.

Like I mentioned, I’ve dealt with puffy under eyes since I was a teenager and have tried a variety of products over the years to fix it. Fast Fix for Puffy Eyes will definitely give you visible short term results. If you partied a little too hard last night or were burning the midnight oil on a project, this will keep you from looking like a hot mess the next day. Within a few minutes of applying the gel, I definitely saw a slight reduction in the puffiness that I normally always have. This is especially great to use a few minutes before an important meeting or on date night so you can look refreshed and awake! This tube won’t banish long term puffiness, but for short term bags, it’ll send them packing!

Now, for Fast Fix for Under-eye Circles, I have a mixed review. The product is promoted as a yellow concealer that blends clear into the skin and neutralizes dark circles. But if you read the packaging, it doesn’t really clarify whether this is a stand alone item or if it’s better as a pre-foundation application. As a dark circle neutralizer, this product does work. I do have slight dark circles under my eyes. And, after applying the Fast Fix, they were gone. But, if you’re darker than an olive or light medium skin tone, this is not a stand alone product. My skin tone sits between medium and dark depending on the makeup brand. Even with the most minimal drop of the Fast Fix, I could clearly see a pale yellow cast under my eyes. So, yes it’s technically a fast fix but in reality this isn’t a product you can just use while out (sans makeup) unless you’re a fairer skin tone.

In my opinion, the best way to use these two products is together before you apply your makeup. Start with the Fast Fix for Puffy Eyes to help banish any puffiness. Once the area is dry, apply a very tiny amount of the Fast Fix for Under-eye Circles and blend as you normally would any concealer, building coverage until you’re satisfied. Follow with your favorite foundation and regular makeup routine and your eyes will look perky and happy!

Verdict: Although I question the universal-for-all-skin-tones “this is all you need” nature of Fast Fix for Under-eye Circles, these are still great products to have in your beauty arsenal. For someone such as myself who isn’t blemish prone and doesn’t use concealer except for under my eyes, I could definitely swap out a traditional concealer for Alba Botanica’s Fast Fix.

im-in-a-band-we-kinda-suck  asked:

Do you know any good (cheap!) cleansers for people with oily skin??

Yes! I have oily skin and I used to use the Origins Zero Oil Cleanser which I considered holy grail and then I found an even better option that was only $6! Alba Botanica Good and Clean Foaming Cleanser is amazing and I’ve tried other products from the line and they’ve all been really good and usually under $10.
