It’s 2017, and women are still being harassed on LinkedIn

When Charlotte Miller accepts a new LinkedIn request from a man, she steels herself for the possibility that he considers LinkedIn more of a dating site than a professional network. Miller (whose name has been changed to protect her privacy), a certified career coach who runs her own business, uses LinkedIn to connect with potential clients. But over the years, she’s received several messages from male users that are sexual, romantic or generally creepy in nature.

Here’s one message she shared with Mic (emphasis ours):

Such knowledge, experience and portfolio in your field of work, I just can’t help but mention how fascinated I am. Your beauty on the other hand makes it all perfect. Beauty and intelligence are like two peas in a pod one needs another. The result, usually magical. It almost immediately reminds me of the Arabian nights when Aladdin strikes his lamp and something exquisite is being conjured into existence. Would be awesome to get to know you.

Miller is one of many women who have experienced unwanted sexual advances, unsolicited comments on their appearance and other forms of sexual harassment on career-networking site LinkedIn. She said she reported several of these inappropriate contacts to the company, but never heard back from them. Read more (4/28/17)

The UT/UF/SF/US bros find the magic lamp of Aladdin, they evocate the Genie cleaning the lamp up. Now they can express three desires. What would they wish for? (Genie's three rules: Can't kill anyone, can't make people fall in love and can't bring anyone back from the dead.) And maybe neither ask for more desires.

Hoo, man. With those limitations… ~Mod Feral

UT Sans

His first wish would be to get rid of his depression. With it gone, maybe he can actually do something with his life. His second wish would be to be able to actually talk about his feelings towards crushes after a while. By all accounts, it’s not making anyone fall in love with each other, just allowing him to be able to say something. He’ll probably do something stupid for his third wish.

UT Papyrus

He honestly only has one true wish: to be someone others look up to and admire. It’s the whole reason he wanted to be part of the royal guard, and it’s all he wants that is even slightly selfish. He’ll probably then ask for things that’ll help his brother and lastly, if possible, he’ll let the genie go, free them.

UF Sans

1: He want’s proper eyesight again. He doesn’t know or care if it gets rid of the crack on his skull or not, he wants to not worry about others sneaking up on him. 2: He wants all of the mental illnesses gone. All of them. They’re unbearable, especially together like this. 3: He want’s his brother to stop being such an ass. Red remembers how his brother used to act and wants that back, at least around the house.

UF Papyrus

He’ll probably scoff, under the thought that he doesn’t need anything else. He’ll just hold onto the lamp and use the wishes in emergencies, if any ever come up.

US Sans

He’ll have the same first wish as UT Papyrus, and his second wish will be the same as UT Sans’ first one. He’ll then be torn on what to do for the third one, ultimately freeing the genie seeing as that’s what they want.

US Papyrus

He’s honestly fine how he is. He may ask for his PTSD from the genocide route to be erased, and that’s it.

SF Sans

He’ll have difficulties making a final decision on his wishes. He just knows he wants to be cooler, stronger, and more intimidating to everyone in the underground.

SF Papyrus

He’ll first ask for his brother to be one of the strongest monsters, but to also know that he’s only gotten to that point because of this wish. He’ll then ask for some more power, but not a lot, of his own. The karma gives him a pretty good boost, but he’d love to be able to get more damage on others whenever. Third, he wants to be able to have others fear both him and his brother, most likely to the point of never wanting to mess with them. He’ll have a lot of fun then.
