al alaq

I was reading one of my favorite sura from the Qur'an, Surah Al Araf.

And on the end of it, I encountered my favorite mihrab sign again. Subhan'Allah. It always makes me smile whenever I encounter this “little house” that I used to call it before.

So today, I wanted to share something about it, and I pray it benefits every person who reads this. in sha Allah.

I would like to tell you about it through the story of ‘Uthman Ibn Affan Radiyallahu Anhu, again it’s because Qur'an and 'Uthman are just two subjects that can’t be separated. ma sha Allah. How beautiful was 'Uthman.
_____

Sujood At-Tilawah also known as the prostration that ones does when reading qur'an.

'Uthman’s viewed sujood at tilawah as obligatory when reciting, sitting and listening to the Noble Qur'an,  while others say its not but nevertheless this is highly recommended for us to do in sha Allah, and there is indeed no sin if we do not do it.

As for one who hears it without meaning to, he does not have to prostrate.

As narrated 'Umar passed by a storyteller who recited a verse in which a prostration was required so that 'Uthman would prostrate with him.

'Uthman said: “The prostration is only required of the one listening to it”, then went on his way and did not prostrate.

*means the one who intended to listen to it*

and 'Uthman also said that menstruating women who hear a verse of prostration should make a gesture and not ignore it, but she should not prostrate as in prayer.
_____

This is in view of the great caliph. We have to keep in mind that sujood At Tilawah is done to show our willingness to humble ourselves before Allah, hence we are to deliver an extra prostration to showcase this.

How to do Sujood At Tilawah: [Again, it is not a sin if you do not do it, but it is recommended]

1) If you are reading or listening to the recitation of such verse, you should say takbeer and prostrate one time after reading it.

As narrated by 'Umar: “The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam used to recite Qur'an to us, and if he reached an ayah where a sajdah was prescribed, he would say takbeer and prostrate and we would do likewise.

2) If you are praying and you come to such verse, then you should say Allahu'akbar and go directly from standing to prostration without bowing in between, then after one sujood you should say Allahu'akbar and stand up and continue your prayer.

3) If you are praying behind an imam, you should only make sujood at tilawah if the imam does so.

Note: Most of the scholars says that it is not necessary to be in a state of wudhu, or facing the qiblah or dressed for this prostration [as to how it is to be when offering salah]. But it is highly advised to treat this prostration with same level of humility and respect.

• A dua for Sujood At Tilawah

Allahumma aktub li biha ‘indaka ajran wa da’ ‘anni biha wizran waj’alha li ‘indaka dukhran wa taqabbalha minni kama taqabbaltaha min ‘abdika Daw’oud

“O Allah, record for me a reward for this (prostration), and remove from me a sin. Save it for me and accept it from me just as You accepted it from Your slave Daw’oud.”

Note:
This is one of the ad'iyah for sujood At Tilawah, if you haven’t memorized it then make it to a point that you say Subhana Rabbiy al-A'ala [Glory be to my Lord] in sha Allah.

I wanted to share this because when i was delivering lectures back home, I was asked about this sign and so I thought maybe some other sisters are also wondering about it especially to those who are new on reading the Qur'an, so I pray this helps you all, in sha Allah.

Also because we might unknowingly recite some of the verses above in our salah and I just wanted to give the heads up that we could earn extra rewards for it in sha Allah.

In this, I would like to end this article with the hadith of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam saying about this:

Once a person prostrates himself after reading a verse requiring the performance of sajdah, the shaitan starts crying and wailing in a corner, saying: ‘Alas! The children of Adam were enjoined to perform sajdah and they carried it out, and become entitled to enter Paradise, but I refused to do so and was condemned to Hell.”

_____

And I pray that we are given the tawfiq to learn the Qur'an and may Allah Azza Wa Jall ease our hearts through making Qur'an filling every emptiness that we have. Amin

[With a longing heart of a daughter who had lost her mother, I ask whoever among you who reads this and may Allah make you benefit from it, give a little prayer for my mother Allah yer7ama, her name is Aida [please mention her name in your ad'iyah].

May this be a form of sadaqah jariya of hers, and may Allah Azza Wa Jall forgive her and grant her a place in Jannatul Firdaus. Amin]

chiyo-azuki  asked:

Ishida did it again. As I expected, there's similar meaning in the chapter 96's title with Al Quran. The 96th surah of Al Quran, Al-Alaq, means "a coagulating blood", isn't it?

Seems so. The title of the chapter is 「凝う血」, and the 96th Surah in Japanese is titled  「凝血」.

The title references the second line (out of 19) in the Surah, which reads: “Read! In the name of your Lord, who created Man out of coagulated blood”.

I think the Surah as a whole is about the necessity of humility? I’m not sure though.

#SAYAMEMBACA

Membaca Al-Qur’an, membaca buku, dan lain sebagainya.

SALAH SATU CARA MUDAH MENGHAPAL NAMA-NAMA SURAH DALAM AL QUR’AN

Assalamu’alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarokaatuh

Silahkan mencoba :

Women in Islam: Khadijah

Khadijah binti Khuwaylid was the daughter of successful merchant of Quraysh tribe of Mecca, Khuwaylid bin Assad and Fatimah bint Zaidah. Her family was known as one of the most honored family merchant in the tribe of Mecca. Khuwaylid, with his colleague, Abdul Muthalib (known as the Prophet’s grandfather in later life), were famous as influence person in Mecca. Khadijah was good at archery, horse riding, and math, as good as her father when she was a girl. She also had a good self-defense in desert. As she grown up, she was as generous as her mother. When Khadijah was fifteen years old, Kaba was attacked by King of Abrahah and his elephant soldiers. Abdul Muthalib suggested Khadijah to lead a journey to evacuate women and kids, while he and Khuwaylid stayed in Mecca to lead a war against the king.

In her later life, Khadijah was married twice. She was married to a generous merchant named Abu Hala, and they had two children. Their marriage was last for 4 years because her husband was dead. Later, in her second marriage, she was married to Atiq, a famous nobleman in Mecca. Atiq was a gruff Arabian man, who loved to drunk, their marriage was end up in divorced.

Upon her father’s death, Khadijah took over his business. She ran the business very well, and her business was larger than any other Quraysh tribe and gained a good reputation of high quality goods and fair-dealing. She used to hire a man to sent the goods outside the city. Khadijah was working with her sister, Asma, in her business. Once, when the economics trades fell off, Khadijah decided to find a business partner she could trust. She asked Asma and discussed about it. She had a name, a son of Abdul Muthalib, Abu Thalib. He was running the business with his nephew, Muhammad. Asma was the intermediary to Abu Thalib and asked Muhammad to worked for Khadijah. Muhammad was 25 years old when he started to work for Khadijah as a business leader.

Khadijah sent him to Syiria for a business trip. Muhammad was companied by Khadijah’s personal assistant, Maysarah, and Hakim bin Hizam, her nephew. Khadijah was secretly ordered her personal assistant to supervise her new business leader, and observe the whole business. By the time they returned home, Maysarah reported to Khadijah all that had taken a place in Syiria. Khadijah was impressed by the story and started thinking of purposing marriage to Muhammad.

One night, as she wondered about her plan, purposing marriage to Muhammad, she was dreaming about a wonderful dream. She told her dream to Waraqah bin Nawfal, her cousin and also her uncle, because he was at the same age as Khuwaylid. Waraqah was blind, he has read thousand books and lack of slept during his life. He has depth knowledge about Torah (taurat) and Injil. The wonderful dream she had was indicated that the Prophet (peace be upon Him) whose had been predicted in Torah and Injil was to grace her home and she would gain from his presence in her life.

After her meeting with Waraqah, her desire to marry Muhammad (peace be upon him) became stronger. Nafisah bint Manbah, one of Khadijah’s very close friend, went to Muhammad (peace be upon Him) and asked him a very personal question, she asked why he had not got married yet. He said he did not have a financial resource. Nafisah asked if he willing to marry a beautiful lady from a noble family. He asked her who was the lady she was referred to. He learnt her identity and he said that he was willing to marry her. Khadijah was so happy.

Muhammad (peace be upon Him) was twenty-five years old and Khadijah was forty when they were married. The formal marriage proposal was brought by his two uncles, Abu Thalib and  Hamzah, approached her uncle, ‘Umar bin Assad. The proposal was officially accepted and they were married.

Their marriage was very blissful, they had six children, Qasim, ‘Abdullah, Zaynab, Ruqayyah, Umm Khulthum, and Fatimah. It was a very happy household but Muhammad (peace be upon Him) was feeling lost. He went to Hira cave for prayer and meditation. He saw the presence of another being held his arms so tight, and ask him to read. He couldn’t do anything because he couldn’t read. The person loosen his arms, and asked him again to read, repeated three times. Then finally he read the ayah which are the first revelation of Quran, from Surah Al-‘Alaq (Surah Iqra).

“Read! In the Name of your Lord who has created (all that exists). He has created a man from a clot. Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous. Who has taught (the writing) by the pen. He has taught man that which he knew not.” (Noble Quran, 96:1-5)

The person was disappeared, and it was an awesome experience he had. He was shocked, and decided to return home sweating and shaking. He called out his wife and asked her to cover him with blanket. He told her about the creature he met in the Hira cave. Khadijah brought him to meet her cousin, Waraqah, and he told everything about the person in the cave. Waraqah immediately guessed the identity of the person was Angel of Jibril, the messenger of Allah. He added that he’d been told were true, surely it meant that her husband was the Prophet of Allah (peace be upon Him) whose had been mentioned in the earlier scriptures.  Khadijah was the first woman who accepted Islam.

Khadijah was loyal and supporting him in most of aspects of life. When the disbelievers saw Islam had gained more and more followers, they decided to declare an economic boycott of the tribe of Bani Hasyim. It was the seventh years after the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) declared himself as the messenger of Allah. The innocent children were suffered from hunger, the adults survived by eating leaves. Khadijah who had been very wealthy, bore the hardships with the other Muslims. She was the only person who believed that he was the Prophet and the messenger of Allah (peace be upon Him), when everyone disbelieved him.

Three years before hijrah to Medina, Khadijah passed away. She died at the age of sixty-five. When she passed away, the Prophet (peace be upon Him) was so brokenhearted, at a loss of dedicated companion who stood by him during the most difficult moments during his life. Khadijah was the one and only woman he loved the most. Whenever any gifts bought to him, he sent immediately to some women who had been friends of Khadijah. Narrated from Ayshah, a favorite wife of Muhammad in his later life, whenever he talked about Khadijah, it was in terms of the highest praise, and he would talk at great length and praise her qualities, and pray for her forgiveness. Ayshah said she had never been experienced such a feeling of feminine natural jealousy for any other wife of the Prophet as she did for Khadijah

One day, when Ayshah wondered why the Prophet (peace be upon him) still missed her while Allah has blessed him a younger wife, he just answered, “I have not yet found a better wife than her. She had faith in me when everyone, even members of my own family and tribe did not believe me, and accepted that I was truly a Prophet and the messenger of Allah. She converted to Islam, spent all her wealth and worldly goods to help me spread this faith, and this too at a time when entire world seemed to has turned against me and persecuted me. And it is through her that Allah blessed me with children.”

surah al-alaq - verse 14

Allah (swt) is watching over us, all the time, out of His care for us. And this should have a profound effect on the way we live.

One of things that should warm our hearts when we know Allah is ar-Raqeeb (the all-Observant) is that we are never, ever alone. When we are up late at night working on an essay, or awake in the early hours of the morning getting ready for work, Allah is with us.

I haven’t said anything in public yet about what happened last week, but it’s been effecting me. I’ve never known a desire stronger than the desire to draw. It seems to be fairly basic & universal. Yet, around the same time that a child is taught that it should stop shitting in it’s pants, it is discouraged from drawing, and is convinced that it should grow up and learn to WRITE instead.

As CARTOONISTS, we are the PANTS SHITTERS of the human race, and what we do is the most primal & unstoppable form of human expression. All languages are eventually forgotten. The ability to take a stick and draw a face will never die. FUCK OTHER FORMS OF ART

Yes, of course JE SUIS CHARLIE. It’s been scary and sad to see other cartoonists back away from fully supporting their peers. Because you don’t like what they create? Our profession and culture is a constant procession of guns & murder presented as fun, sexy, cool, and powerful. Almost all modern entertainment repulses me, but I wouldn’t be telling folks in hollywood that they were asking for it if gunmen burst into their offices.

THE WIKIPEDIA ENTERY ON MUHAMMAD HAS A PICTURE OF HIS FACE (above)  "A depiction of Muhammad receiving his first revelation from the angel Gabriel. From the manuscript Jami’ al-tawarikh by Rashid-al-Din Hamadani, 1307, Ilkhanate period.“

In this very first vision of Muhammad Gabriel teaches him how to USE A PEN

"Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created-
Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood:
Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,-
Who taught (the use of) the pen,-
Taught man that which he knew not.

—Quran, sura 96 (Al-Alaq), ayat 1-5

Why did Gabriel give Muhammad the pen? To write down words, not to create images? Is that what last week was all about? The battle between words and pictures, between language and imagery has been going on for a long time. Not all of Islam is on board with this no pictures of his face thing. I guess early Christianity started out with a similar argument, until the Catholics got going and decided that graven images were their favorite thing.

I woke at 5am one day last week. I wasn’t sure what had woken me, and drew the pictures above. I turned on the news to hear about the gunmen in France being cornered in a print shop.
