It was cold. Sure the mountain got cold around this time of year with it being winter. But it had never been this bad before. Momiji, even with all her warm fur, was feeling it, a shiver running down her spine. And sadly, she still had patrols to run in the mountains. As much as she loved the mountain’s beauty and serenity, the cold was making that pretty hard to enjoy her job. But she did it anyway.
Momiji didn’t expect anything out of the normal today. Just the sort of looking out for intruders or folks who’d gotten lost in the mountains. But she didn’t expect to hear the rustle of snow and the crunch of footsteps on snow. She acted quickly, moving to the source of the sound. “Who’s there!?”
