Prepare yourself, this is long.

1.) Contour: To accentuate your features. You can place a brown color that is a few shades darker than your natural skintone in the hollows of your cheeks, your temples, above your forehead to make your face seem smaller, various places on your nose depending on the look you want - although my nose is impossible to contour I’ve been trying for a year - , the crease of your eyelids (thats just eyeshadow dont worry), and your jawline.

Tips: If you're just starting to wear makeup and want to contour then use a shade that isn’t too dark. It’ll be easier to blend into to your skin. Personally, I don’t use bronzers like a lot of people do (bronzers make you tan) to contour because I don’t like the look. I actually use a gray toned brown, which will make some people shriek but I feel like it looks like more of a natural shadow.

What Do I Use:
I use an LA COLORS Brow Palette from ROSS $7???(we’re on a budget okay)

2.) Eyeliner: Eyeliner is not necessary. Makeup is not necessary. It’s just hella fun. The usual way to do eyeliner is to make your eyes pop. Like a thin line on the top of your lids, close to your lashline, or tight lining your eyes. (tight lining in putting eyeliner on your lash line. like that thing in movies where they make a weird face and put stuff right on their upper and/or lower lash line.)

Tips: If you have a paler complexion, use brown for a natural look or black for a more prominent look. For deeper skintones, I would recommend dark browns and blacks. If ya feelin’ risky, pop some color on your waterline. I use pink because I have greenish eyes and it makes then more…..there.

What Do I Use?:
Essence Super Fine Felt Tip Liner $3 (waterproof formula is bomb af but use powder on oily lids before applying or it will bleed, if you do that it stays all damn day.)

3.) Eyebrows: The trend is to have fuller eyebrows. While I already have full brows, they just kind of…. go everywhere. So I give them a shape. Sometimes it’s a dark and dramatic arch, or sometimes it’s a soft straight brow. Depends on the natural shape of your brows and how you like them.

Tips: Unless you dye your hair black, don’t use black for your brows. I dye my hair the blackest black I can find and I still use a dark gray. For beginners, try a pencil or brow gel first. Brow gels are light mascaras but for your brows. They hold the shape in place, give the hairs color, and/or make ya eyebrows look fuller.

What Do I Use?:
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz (pencil) in Granite $21
NYX Pomade in Black $7

4.) Face-Colored-Cream aka Foundation: This is used to even out your skintone. It comes in several forms: Liquid, Cream (thicker form of liquid, often gives fuller coverage), and Powder. There is also a thing called concealer, which is more pigmented foundation that you can use on places your foundation doesn’t cover. If you wear foundation, then consider one for your skin type. Matte helps oily skin and luminous helps dry skin.

Tips: Have someone else match your foundation/concealer you know has experience with makeup and can help you get the perfect match. I go with friends or a beauty store will always have someone to help you. I haven’t done this in particular, but if you bring foundations you already have or samples to someone working to counter at a beauty store, they will probably help match you. Hopefully.

What Do I Use?:
MAC Studio Fix in NC15 $27 (Matte but not matte enough for this oil slick)
Maybelline Dream Cushion in Porcelain $13 (Luminous but not dewy)
Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless in Porcelain $8 (Matte and actually helps my skin)
Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer in Light Pale $6
NYX HD Studio Photogenic in 4.5 $7
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder $5
Cody Airspun in Translucent $5

4.) Lip Liner: Honestly, lip liner just helps map out the shape of your lips so it’s easier to fill them in with lipstick. I use it to slightly overdraw my lips for a fuller affect.

Tips: You don’t have to use this. Just find a shade that matches your lipstick and go. I sometimes use lip liner over my entire lips and put a balm over it. Acts like a stain.

What Do I Use?:
Loreal Infalliable line of Lip Liners $3
NYX Suede Lip Liners $5

5.) Ear Contouring: Is a thing that practically no one does cause it’s literally just concealing the redness in your ears. No clue why they called it contouring. I will not leave a link for this because I think it’s stupid.

6.) A red lip and smokey eye are classics in the beauty community so of course, everyone wants to be good at them. I actually hate red on me so I can’t help you there. Also, I don’t do natural smokey eyes.

Tips: Blend. If you think you’re done, you’re wrong. Keep blending.

7.) Undertones: A good way to understand your skin’s undertones is to look at your wrist and see if your veins are blue, green, or in between. Blue means cool toned, Green means warm toned, in between mean neutral. Having a foundation that matches your undertone really helps it blend into your skin and appear natural and flawless. That method is not always accurate btw, so it’s a good idea to have a professional or ya local trash for beauty help you out.

Makeup Tutorial For Trans Women

Hey loves! I’m about eight months into my hormone replacement therapy journey, and for the longest time I’ve been searching for the right makeup look. For months I wore full face makeup with eyeliner and lipstick on the daily (and that is totally fine for you to do as well) but it got to a point where I dreaded getting ready every morning. It wasn’t good for my skin and sometimes it did the opposite of what I intended it to do, for I kept getting misgendered. So I learned to start doing less; I feel better about my skin, and I am able to pass much easier. And although I know for some of you passing is not a concern, I am aware that for others passing is a matter of safety and security.

So let’s get into this makeup look!

First things first, priming is very important!! Now I know from paying hormones and other things I have to do financially, I have a pretty tight budget. However, through the help of the internet and some makeup YouTubers, I’ve discovered this very cheap primer. It’s NIVEA for Men Sensitive Post Shave Balm ($5). It works like magic, and it is cheap! The glycerin in the formula helps your makeup stay on all day long. Also, I shave my face right before doing my makeup, therefore an after shave balm really helps. You’ll kill two birds with one stone!

Next up, I like to color correct my five o’ clock shadow, which is mainly my upper lip and chin area. I use Wet n’ Wild MegaLast Lipstick Just Peachy ($1.50). Because my facial hair has a blue-ish undertone, I am using an orangey/peachy color before my foundation to cancel it out. I apply and blend it out with my middle finger.

I like to let it sit for a bit, so to save time, I move on to concealing/highlighting/priming- all with one product! And that is the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer, Neutralizer ($7). I apply it on the bridge of my nose for a subtle highlight, under my eyes for brightening, and on my eyelids for priming the eye makeup!

So once I look like I belong in The Lion King, I use a damp Drugstore Beauty Blender ($4), and blend it all out with patting motions. Be gentle, but really work in the products.

Viola! So now we move onto foundation! I used to wear liquid foundation every day, but I found that it was drying and too cakey for a daily look, so I moved on to bb creams! An lawddddddd, they work wonders! It’s light and breathable, yet is buildable and can cover up problem areas, such as the peachy orange color concealer I use. My current favorite is Maybelline Dream Velvet Soft Matte Hydrating Foundation, 90 Honey Beige ($9). I apply it with my fingers all over my face except for the color corrected areas. I will get to that after with a different application!

I learned that it is not necessarily what brand of makeup you use that makes you look incredible, but the techniques and the brushes are what will do you wonders! So for the bb cream I am using E.L.F’s Powder Brush ($3), which is meant for dry products, but the density and surface of the brush makes for a perfect buffing brush. So blend that in!

Now all you are left with is your upper lip area and chin area that has the peachy tone lipstick on it. So what I do is I take more of that bb cream, and put it on my middle finger, and apply a generous amount on top of the areas. Afterwards, I use the bottom part of my beauty blender and pat that in, making sure to blend out the edges so I’m left with one unison color for my foundation.

Yay! Foundation is all complete! Now because there is quite the thick layer on my upper lip and chin area, I need to set it so it does not move or smudge throughout the day. So what I do is I use Coty Airspun Loose Face Powder, Naturally Neutral ($5) with my beauty blender, and pat a generous amount on my chin and upper lip. This is called baking, where you let the powder cook the makeup and set it really well.

Can’t forget about the rest of the face! So what I do is I take a little amount of that loose powder and apply it mostly on the highlighted areas, such as the under eyes, and the bridge of my nose. But this time, I use a little bit and blend it in really well. Because the deweyness of the bb cream is lovely, and you don’t want to take that away!

While I bake, I like to move on to the eyes. I start with highlighting beneath the brow, with Nourishing Long Wear Eye Shadow + Built-in Primer, Classic Nude ($8). I take the top pinkish highlight color with my ring finger and apply that under my brows for a nice shimmery highlight.

Next, I move on to the eyeshadow, which will actually be the bronzer that I use. I like to keep the eyes simple and nude neutral, for a more natural look. I bought Wet ‘n’ Wild Color Icon Bronzer, Bikini Contest ($3) bronzer at the dollar store, and it is by far one of my favorite bronzers to date! I will apply it with E.L.F.’s Eyeshadow “C” Brush ($3) and pack it on my eyelids. After, I use E.L.F.’s Blending Brush ($3) and blend out the edges to smoke out the eyeshadow.

Next, I highlight the tip of my nose, inner corner of my eyes, and cheekbones with ColourPop’s Glo Up Highlighter ($8), all with my ring finger. It has a more thick powder consistency, and I find using my finger to be the easiest method.

The reasoning for highlighting is that because we have concealed, applied foundation, and powdered our face, adding shimmer brings back a glow to the face. Also… highlighters are so pretty!

So the next step is to dust off the powder on the chin and upper lip with a very light and fluffy brush.

Now, I move on to contouring/bronzing. I like to use one single product to do the job. Contouring and then bronzing is too much work, and I’m not going for a night time party look, therefore a warm and bronze glow will do the job, if done strategically. I use E.L.F.’s Complexion Brush ($3) and the bronzer earlier and work it right above the natural hollow of my cheekbones, and blend it in in circular motions, whilst blending in the highlight on the cheek too, to make one uniform look.

Don’t forget the forehead, sides of the nose, jawline, and down the neck. I also blend some on the upper lip and chin because the powder earlier can make the areas look slightly ashy. Blend, blend, blend! Very important!

For my eyebrows, I like to use Maybelline Volum’ Express The Rocket Mascara ($6) because it darkens my brows, and the waterproof formula keeps it in place. Eyebrows frame your face, they are very important, so experiment to see what works best for you!

You can honestly end right here, but I like to do mascara. I find that applying mascara on my eyelashes helps feminize my eyes. Take a looksie!

As you can see, simply curling them makes a big difference. Now let’s apply the mascara! My favorite is L'Oreal Paris Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara, Waterproof Blackest Black ($6). Unfortunately, my genetics did not bless me with the best eyelashes, but this mascara knocked me off the park and gives me length I never thought I could have! Look at the difference in the two eyes.

I focus the mascara mostly on the outer corner because it almost gives it a darker smokey/gradient eye look. Now do the same for the other eye and we’re almost done!

For the lips, I like to line them with Rimmel 1000 Kisses Stay On Lip Liner Pencil, Café Au Lait ($3), and fill them in with CoverGirl Lip Perfection Lip Stick, Sultry ($2)

Because I’m going for a more naturalistic look, I like to make the lips more matte. Here’s the trick: You take a tissue paper, put it over your lips, and use a fluffy brush and a loose powder and lightly brush it over my lips for a matte effect.

Now finish up getting ready, and live your life!

You can either add more, or take it all off. At the end of the day, your makeup is your own art, so go with whatever you are most comfortable with!

How do you do your makeup and what products do you use?! You and your makeup are always so pretty!

hi!! thank u!

for today’s look i useddddd:

- morphe 35O and ABH modern renaissance on the eyes (w/ a lil bit of lala by colourpop on the lid)
- lashes are the intoxicating lash by flutter lashes (my fave rn)
- brows are the nyx micro brow pencil (a really inexpensive ABH brow wiz dupe since i go through brow pencils like actual water) also used the elf clear brow gel to set them and make them all fluffy
- foundation is a mixture between the tarte amazonian clay and the milani 2-n-1 foundations since im still kinda tan from self tanning lmao
- tarte shape tape concealer for undereye concealing with airspun powder to set n bake my face
- physicians formula butter bronzer to lightly contour (i used the airspun powder on the tip of my RT sponge to sharpen up under the bronzer)
- colourpop flexitarian highlight - its suuuuuuper strong so i like to use a duo fibre stippling brush to kinda blend it out
- uhhhh what else 🤔OH i used some brown shades from my 35O palette for the fake freckles
- and lastly i have oak lip liner by mac on my lips 😚

i think that’s it lmao i apply my liquids with a RT sponge and then use mostly sigma and morphe eye + face brushes 😼✨

oh and thank u for the nice compliment i love u

So I use my moms make up and we share stuff because she only started to let me wear makeup lately. She doesn't really have that much and all I wear is eyeshadow, foundation, and mascara. and she says she's going to take me makeup shopping soon and what?? What do I do??? What do I need??? I'm so dumb with these things

oooo for your first makeup bag i would suggest having these things:

foundation (covergirl 2 in 1, maybelline fit me, elf, revlon colorstay)
concealer (maybelline fit me or age rewind)
setting powder (airspun, rimmel stay matte)
blush (milani rose powder blush)
eyebrows (elf eyebrow kit)
eyeshadow (maybelline blushed nudes)
mascara (l’oreal voluminous mascara, covergirl super sizer)
lipgloss (essence xxxl shine, rimmel)

an extra, just in case:

highlighter (essence eyeshadow mono in the grammy goes glammy)

I know I haven’t posted anything in like a month I’m sorry!! I wasn’t busy, just lazy. But I picked up some products from the Wet n Sild Holiday Collection and wanted to share them! I’m wearing one of their pigments on my lid and it is so gorgeous omfg 😍 I love everything about these loose pigments, but I can’t find them online so I think they are sold out except for in some stores, so go pick them up I mean it!!

Hi ur makeup looks so flawless😍😞 What foundation or primer you use?

Hello! I switch between 3 primers, KVD lock it, Too Faced hangover X, and MUFE ultra HD hydrating serum. For foundation I use Too Faced born this way and set it with either airspun powder or the KVD lock it powder 😊

after doing my favorite skin care products of 2016, i decided i might as well do one for makeup too so here it is. my favorite makeup to use on a daily basis:

primer: smashbox photo finish primer water, benefit porefessional, honest beauty everything primer (luminous base). i also use the l'oréal paris magic anti redness correcting primer on my cheeks

foundation: it cosmetics cc+, l'oréal infallible pro-glow, clinique even better, and the tarte amazonian clay is good but a little too heavy for every day but i do like it

concealer: tarte cc undereye corrector, maybelline better skin, too faced born this way

setting powder: nyx hd translucent finishing powder or the airspun loose face powder to bake if i feel like taking the time

highlight: glossier haloscope, benefit watt’s up, laura geller easy illuminating stick in gilded honey (i also like this shade in the baked gelato swirl one), mary lou manizer by the holy grail

contour/bronzer: benefit hoola, urban decay beached bronzer, too faced cocoa contour kit. sometimes i like to use cream contour so on those days i’ll resort to the clinique chubby stick or the abh stick foundation in the shade “fawn”

brows: abh brow wiz, abh clear brow gel, maybelline brow drama mascara

eyeliner: if i use eyeliner, i’ll use a liquid to line my upper lash line whether it be the milani brow tint pen or the maybelline felt tip pen. if i do a wing i like to use the nyc liquid one

mascara: i’m super picky about mascara and i rly hate high end formulas SO. i use l'oréal telescopic, butterfly sculpt and maybelline push up angel

lips: i have so many favorite lipsticks but normally i do a nude pink. lately i’ve been lining w nyx nude liner and mixing the buxom lipstick in the shade sydney with tarte’s namaste. slay by bare minerals is also a favorite bc it smells so good omfg

setting spray: makeup forever, l'oréal infallible, mario badescu rosewater

anonymous asked:

how do i bake? xx

really easy steps:

1) make sure you’ve highlighted your face including your under eye, nose, chin, & forehead.

2) blend using a beauty blender

3) use a translucent loose powder that doesn’t cause flashback e.g. Laura Mercier translucent loose powder, coty airspun translucent loose powder or baby powder

4) dip your beauty blender in the product & press lightly on the highlighted areas of your face & let it set for about 10 minutes

5) meanwhile you can finish the rest of your makeup e.g. powder contouring to define the areas of your face

6) remove powder after 10 minutes, fan off the excess using a powder brush & you’re all done!

7) optional (dry skin) - use a hydrating spray after, like the mac fix+ or Tatcha to finish the look!
