it really bothers me that people think that once you’re away from the abuse, you’ll instantly start recovering. in the times i had spent away from abuse, i had more panic attacks than i’d ever had before. that was because i was in a safer place to experience the feelings i’d repressed my entire childhood. it, unfortunately, really really doesn’t just stop or get better when you’re out.
One neat thing I noticed while rewatching is that some of the paladins’ introductions in episode 1 coincide with their elements! Like:
The Yellow Lion’s element is Earth, and the first thing Hunk ever does onscreen is complain about being in the air and then work with metal. The fear of heights / motion sickness makes sense considering his affinity is with the ground, as does his talent for mechanics.
The first time we see Pidge, she’s working a communications unit. The Green Lion’s thing is Forests, and a big aspect of that is the idea of roots and connection with other living things (”we are all made up of the same cosmic dust”) and the first thing she does on screen is literally connect with others.
Red’s element is fire, and Keith’s introduction is literally him blowing something up and then punching some guys. Which. Speaks for itself honestly.
Weirdly, Shiro and Lance don’t seem to follow this trend. The first thing we see Shiro do is help Matt extract ice from Kerberos, and the first thing we see Lance do is fly the simulator, and neither introduction seems to be related to their given elements of air and water/ice respectively– in fact I’d say they seem swapped. I dunno if that means something, and maybe this observation is meaningless lmao, but it seems to hold up with the other three, which is interesting.
Never-ending. Utterly and completely silent. A watercolor of blues and greens, whites and blacks. A place of complete tranquility but also dangerous conflict. Where stars ten thousand times larger than our sun can explode, and not make a single sound. The ultimate peace. The ultimate destruction.
a waterfall of mist flowing over golden cliffs of west bay in dorset. noted the videographer, “when i walked on to the beach i couldn’t see anything because of the fog. i could barely see the top of the cliffs. i sent up my drone well above the cliffs to see what was happening and i could see the fog just flowing over the cliffs like a waterfall.
normally, hot air will cool as it rises, but the opposite can sometimes occur in what is known as temperature inversion, where hot air high up acts as a seal to keep cold air and fog trapped below, creating the scene of a river of fog seeming to flow into the sea below. (x)
One of my favorite things about Zenyuki is how Zen and Shirayuki love and adore each other, but their lives don’t revolve each other. Instead, their love for each other inspires them to better follow their careers. Zen’s duties as a prince and Shirayuki’s job as a pharmacist play just as huge of a role in their lives as romance.
I also love how the two of them acknowledge and respect each other’s jobs. Shirayuki doesn’t separate Zen the friend from Zen the prince and she even snaps at Obi when he asks her if she wishes that Zen wasn’t a prince. On Zen’s end, the way he called her “Pharmacist-san” during her exam was such a cute way for him to signal that he understands how being a herbalist is such a large part of her identity. They know how much their duties mean to each other and try their best to manage both their romance and their jobs.
