To live the life you want, you’ve abandoned those in need; a necessary casualty or so you believe. Our wake will always travel and well up in the eyes of those that you sacrificed in order to survive. I’m that aimless arrow lost from my very start, violence without purpose, born of broken hearts. No one will ever guide me as I sail through the air. Now I just bring sadness in those who choose to care. I know the tears they’re weeping and the damage they will take. It’s the curse of restlessness and the weight of your mistakes. They are those that love you and those that need you more than the sense of gravity banging down your door. I’m that aimless arrow, lost from my very start, violence without purpose, born of broken hearts. No one will ever guide me as I sail through the air. Now I just bring sadness in those who choose to care. Aimless arrow lost from the start.
This is it, man. So begins the official countdown to an album that I’ve been waiting for for three long years: Converge’s All We Love We Leave Behind, their followup to the mind-blowing Axe To Fall. Although the album won’t be until October 9th, the band has kick-started the hype train with the album’s first single and its accompanying video.
I’ve read several places that All We Love We Leave Behind is somewhat a back-to-basics for the grandfathers of metalcore; and if “Aimless Arrow” is any indication as to what the album has in store, then that’s exactly what it will be. With cleaner guitars, Jacob’s tamer vocals, and a post-hardcore skeleton; “Aimless Arrow” shows us Converge’s accessible side when compared to the snarling beast that was Axe To Fall. Excluding the fact that the track’s last 45 seconds or so melts back down to the melee of controlled chaos that the band identifies with, “Aimless Arrow” just might be an indication of cleaner things to come. Either way we’ll have to wait until October 9th to find out.
Converge have released a new music video featuring “Aimless Arrow”, the first single off of their upcoming LP All We Love We Leave Behind. The highly anticipated album is set to drop October 9th via Epitaph Records.

I have never really been into Converge up to this point. Something about them never resonated with me, but this new song is pretty awesome. Maybe because it’s a little more accessible vocally. Whatever the reason, if you like heavy music, check it out.
