The Outsider
A Perfect Circle
The Outsider

Help me if you can
It’s just that this is
Not the way I’m wired
So could you please,

Help me understand why
You’ve given in to all these
Reckless dark desires
Your
Lying to yourself again
Suicidal imbecile
You’re pounding on a fault line
What’ll it take to get it through to you precious
Over this, why do you
Wanna throw it away like this
Such a mess, well I don’t wanna watch you

Disconnect and self destruct one
Bullet at a time
What’s your rush now, everyone will have his day to die

Medicated, drama queen,
picture perfect, numb belligerence
Narcissistic, drama queen, craving fame and all it’s decadence

Lying through your teeth again
Suicidal imbecile
You’re pounding on a fault line
What’ll it take to get it through to you precious
Over this, why do you wanna
Throw it away like this
Such a mess, well I don’t wanna watch you

Disconnect and self destruct one
Bullet at a time
What’s your rush now, everyone will have his day to die

They were right about you
They were right about you

Lying to my face again
Suicidal imbecile
You’re pounding on a fault line
What’ll it take to get it through to you precious
Over this , why do you wanna
Throw it away like this
Such a mess, over this, over this

Disconnect and self destruct,
One bullet at a time
What’s your hurry, everyone will have his day to die
If you choose to pull the trigger, should your drama prove sincere,
Do it somewhere far away from here

“you all know the plot to Jekyll and Hyde but you don’t know the story. That happens with great writing, it gets turned into cliches. And we lose the raw power of the original but the original in this case is amazing.” -Ezra Fitz

Ah. This quote says it all. So Ezra essentially is letting us know what the writers are doing on the show.

What they are doing with Ezra is taking every cliche of a serial killer (creepy stares, creepy cabins with trap doors, always looking around etc.) and trying to convince us so fast that he is being this creepy person. Ezra’s character went from just a regular character, that may have some secrets, to a completely cliche sketchy villain, almost making it like this is some bad Lifetime movie about a serial killer. It’s cliche, insanely cliche.

And when we focus on the cliche, when the story (the story of -A) gets turned into cliches of serial killers, we forget the original, we forget the power of the original.

The original, the powerful one, is the original A. Now i don’t think this is a coincidence that Ezra had talked to Mona a lot during this episode, essentially telling her that he knows who she is really and he isn’t afraid to step up and push back. To me, i took that not as him being condescending and threatening, but rather him telling her that he will protect the people or person he wants to protect. It also is not a coincidence that the camera panned to Mona right after he finished the quote.

Mona could be the original, or even Alison could be the original -A. Either way, the writers are handing us an incredible amount of cliches in their writing. Which will momentarily take us away from the original -A story. When in all actuality, the original -A has incredible power. The cliche (Ezra) has no power, the original (Mona or Alison?) has the power.
