Also known as the pink helmet, it is one of the most widespread species of hydromedusae. It inhabits the northern parts of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans as well the northern seas. In the northern seas it inhabits the the Arctic Ocean, the Skagerrak Strait in the Scandinavian Peninsula, Dvina Bay, Onega Bay and Kandalaksha Gulf on the White Sea in Russia and Hudson Bay in Canada.

They are tiny with its bell growing up to 22mm in height and 11mm in width. They have up to 80 tentacles but may be found with fewer due to encounters with prey and predators (source).
