Melanie Leupolz (14 April 1994): Melanie Leupolz, also known as Melly, is a midfielder who plays for both Germany and FC Bayern München. Before transferring to Bayern at the start of the 2014/15 season, she played with SC Freiburg.
Her professional debut came at the age of 16 with Freiburg, who were at that time playing in the second Bundesliga. Her very first match she scored, and she helped Freiburg win promotion at the end of the 2010/11 season. Despite her young age, Melly was a regular player for Freiburg during all four seasons she spent there, playing 75 matches before her move to Bayern. She has been a regular starter from the get-go at Bayern, and helped them secure their first Bundesliga championship since the 1970s this past season.
Melly started playing with the German national youth squads at the age of 14 and was the captain of the U-17 squad in their third-place finish in the 2011 EUROs. She received her first cap for the first team in July 2013 and was part of the successful 2013 EURO campaign. Since then, she’s been a regular feature of the squad, and so far has earned 30 caps for her country.
