Myths about black fatherhood have already been debunked. In a 2013 report, the CDC found that a higher percentage of black fathers eat a meal with their children every day than white or Latino fathers. They also bathe, diaper and dress their children daily at a higher rate than other dads too. But those myths persist — and these rappers are happy to crush them.

Adorable Black gay dads show what a “normal” family looks like

“A picture is so much more than a thousand words."

In the case of Kordale and Kaleb, the gay black couple whose Instagram picture of them doing their daughters’ hair went viral last year, pictures say so much more.

The Atlanta, Georgia, couple, along with their three kids, is back in the headlines after being featured in a touching new video as part of Nikon’s I Am Generation Image campaign. The sweet video is only two minutes long but continues the family’s tradition of challenging ideas about both gay men and black families.

I don’t think my black followers know this, but

Ariana Miyamoto was crowned Miss Japan 2015 this past March

At 20 years old, not only is Ariana Japan’s first and only half Japanese contestant to claim the title, beating out her more “Japanese looking” peers, but Miyamoto will also go on to represent Japan at the Miss Universe pageant later this year.

The sign reads “I am me.”

Ariana was born to an African American father and a Japanese mother, and spent most of her life growing up in the port city of Nagasaki. She speaks fluent Japanese and English.

In the articles that I’ve read about her she mentions how she was always verbally abused by other kids because of her race. Being half black she was the target for racial slurs and other mistreatment by her own peers. But to her she is 100% Japanese, and having the opportunity to represent her country is something that she is glad to have.

Represent.

Look at this beautiful cutie pie!!
Her name is Ariana Miyamoto and on the 12th of march she was crowned Miss Universe Japan! And how could they not? Just look at this beautiful goddess.

Now there are people complaining that she’s “not really Japanese” because her father is African American, but they can all go fuck themselves. Go go Ariana!

I feel like the closest to indigenous blackness/Africanness is from my father’s side. They’re from North Carolina, and they’ve always been traditional. My mom’s side is more “respectable” and “Americanized.” =
