Okay for your Kayleigh Lives AU - please consider this: It's summer break and Kayleigh takes her sons to the beach for vacation. (Maybe last minute booking so the four of them have to share ONE room or one of their bags got missing during the flight and it's big drama. BUT ALSO - BEACH! SUN! FUN?!)

>> The Kayleigh Lives AU <<

Omg I sidetracked so hard from your prompt i’m sorry
but consider: Kayleigh’s 50th birthday

(I just realized it might be unclear but Kevin is holding a selfie-stick lmao)

Niger Attack Lays Bare U.S. Troops’ Long Wait for Medical Help in Africa
The time frame for moving injured troops is much longer in Africa, where four were killed in an ambush last week, than in Iraq or Afghanistan, military officials said.
By Thomas Gibbons-Neff and Eric Schmitt

Hey, Congress! Four Americans were killed last week during a supposedly “low risk” mission in Africa! Probably because they were “deployed to a hostile area without adequately assessing the risk, and lacked ready access to medical support”! How soon should we expect the endless hearings trying to find someone in the Trump administration to blame for it?

Thomas Luny - The Bombardment of Algiers, August 27, 1816 by Gandalf
Via Flickr:
This impressive painting commemorates the action under the command of Admiral Lord Exmouth off Algiers on 27 August 1816. Following Napoleon’s final defeat in 1815, the Royal Navy no longer needed the assistance of the Barbary States as a source of supplies for Gibraltar and would no longer tolerate further threat of piracy in the Mediterranean, or the systemic enslavement of Europeans in North Africa. A diplomatic mission was undertaken to secure the release of British subjects held in captivity. However, when Algerian troops massacred two hundred Corsican, Sicilian and Sardinian fishermen who were under British protection, it was finally decided that action should be taken.

Lord Exmouth set sail from Plymouth on July 28 1816. At Gibraltar he was joined by a squadron of Dutch frigates under the command of Vice Admiral Theodorus Frederik van Capellen. The fleet reached Algiers on August 27 and, when no answer was given to Lord Exmouth’s demands for the release of prisoners, the order was given to fire. The fire was returned and a fierce action ensued, lasting eight hours. The Algerian batteries were destroyed, along with thirty-three Algerian vessels and much of the town. The result was the release of three thousand European slaves, over a thousand of them British, along with the British Consul. Lord Exmouth returned to England in triumph.

Lt. Robert Roger Marchi standing on his Yakovlev Yak-3 of the Free French “Normandie-Niemen” 1st Squadron. GCIII Normandie (Groupe de Chasse) No.III
East Prussia, March 1945

Robert Marchi
Born July 26, 1919 in Chalon-sur-Saone (Saône et Loire)
Died in a plane crash July 17, 1946 (aged 27)
6 confirmed victories
7 victories in collaboration
1 enemy aircraft damaged
2 enemy aircraft damaged in collaboration.

“Normandie-Niemen” served on the Eastern Front of the European Theatre of World War II with the 1st Air Army. The group is notable for being one of only two air combat units from an Allied western European country to participate on the Eastern Front during the war, the other being the British No. 151 Wing RAF and the only one to fight together with the Soviets until the end of the war in Europe.

GC 3 ‘Normandie’ played an active role during the Battle of Kursk in the summer of 1943, now flying their first Yak -9s. Commandant Tulasne himself claimed a Bf 110 on 15th July and a Fw 190 on 16th July before being shot down and killed the following day on his second sortie escorting IL 2s over the Znamenskaia sector. His successor was Pierre Pouyade who enjoyed the soubriquet 'Le Loup des Steppes’ - 'the wolf of the Steppes’. Losses were to grow during the hard fighting on the central Russian front during 1943 with Pouyade obliged to leave for North Africa on a recruiting mission during October 1943. A second wave of Normandie volunteers arrived in Russia during January 1944, one of whom was Roger Sauvage. His post-war memoir “Un du Normandie-Niémen” is a classic of the genre.

During 1944 Stalin was to honour the Normandie by adding 'Niemen’ to their title in recognition for the help they rendered the Soviet Army in crossing this river. One of the first Allied fighter units to operate from occupied German territory, the 'Normandie-Niemen’ clashed with JG51 Mölders in the huge air battles over Konigsberg in March 1945. By the war’s end and over 5,000 sorties flown, the Group had achieved some 273 confirmed victories and another 36 probables before their triumphal return to Le Bourget, Paris on 20 June 1945. Forty-two of the squadron’s pilots were killed and 30 reached ace status.

It was a lazy day at the compound. Steve, Sam, and Nat were on a mission in Africa and Wanda, Tony, and Vision were off doing their own thing. The only two occupying the building, at least to their knowledge, was Y/n and Bucky. They sat together on the couch with Bucky’s hands wrapped around Y/n’s waist. She smiles against the comforter hugging against them and buries her head into the nape of his neck.

Was It Necessary?

(Steve You Deserve the Whole World Rogers x You Deserve Steve Rogers Reader)

The grumpy looking cat stared at Y/N through the window as she returned its gaze back. Steve found her like this, looking like she hadn’t slept in days, in her sweats and a tank top, her hair up in a pathetic excuse for a pony tail. She was on the chair of her two seat dining room set in her apartment, a cup of cold coffee in front of her as she glared back at the feline who seemed to be mocking her through the glass.

“Leave him alone, Y/N, he’s done nothing to you,” Steve joked, closing the door behind him and making his way through the small space. She gave the cat a final scowl before she turned to her friend who was smiling at her. She rolled her eyes, “What do you want, America?”

“Well I wanted to go get pizza with you but it looks like you’ve already done that yourself,” he tilted his head to the half eaten box of pizza on the counter of her kitchen. Her pad was just a massive mess at this point, it was amazing how Steve wasn’t cringing at the sight. When Y/N didn’t reciprocate his joking tone, Steve grew worried, “Hey, what’s the matter?”

Sighing, Y/N looked up, “You know how we females have this monthly thing where our vagi-,”

“Got it,” Steve nodded, not needing anymore explanation from her. He took his place across the table from her and glanced outside to see the cat still gazing into the apartment. Y/N glared at him knowingly, “Steve, no,”

“Why not?” he pouted as his hand inched towards the latch of her window.

“Steven Grant Rogers, I swear to the mightiest-,”

“Too late,” Too late indeed. Steve had already charmed the cat with an anchovy on the cold pizza he snatched off the counter. The grumpy cat outside was now a ball of fluff in Captain America’s arms.
