Erica Westenberger is a Chicago based artist from New Orleans, Louisiana. Her work is primarily based in fiber arts, though she has a background in figurative and abstract painting. Her fibers work consists of processes such as weaving, embroidery, crocheting, silk-screening, and felting. She is currently working towards her BFA in Fiber and Material Studies at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
“I have been drawing for as long as I can remember, but only started working with oil paint about four years ago. I was reluctant to try and work in such a historic medium, feeling intimidated to approach something I could never master, as I am fairly colorblind. But the more I work, the more obvious the creative benefits of being a self-taught painter become to me. I began exhibiting my work last year and have recently been featured in New American Paintings Vol. 104.”
TRANSACTION is Affinity Parcel’s first public event. A Salon-style trade art event. It is what it is. Simply create a small edition of work, hang it up, have fun and trade with other artists. If you’re located within the Chicago area, we would like any artist to come participate. Come enjoy art, beer, wine and good company.
