After weeks of scandals and shame, the Azkals gave us something we can be proud of!
Congratulations on the 2-0 win against Mongolia!
I think I would not be wrong in saying that the country needed that boost after weeks of depressing revelations of corruption in armed services, devastation by flash floods, and numerous violent crime incidents.
And from someone who has always been into football, I thank you guys for finally making the Filipino nation fall in love with the sport!
While in the bus, I asked the driver to tune in to Studio 23. I heard the groans of the passengers in the bus. I guess they didn’t want to watch the game.
Then Chieffy Caligdong made that historical goal. I was surprised to hear the other people in the bus clap their hands and even whistle and shout “Laban Azkals!”. I looked behind me and saw that the passengers were stretching their neck up high so they could watch the game.
I screamed when Phil made the second goal. I suddenly put my hands on my mouth because people in the bus might get annoyed. But when I looked around, I saw the driver smiling and the other passengers laughing. The manang sitting beside me said
“ Ang galing naman niyan. Sino ba yan?”
“Azkals po. Team natin. Panalo na po tayo e.” I said.
“Ang husay naman.”
And even if I missed the first half and only got to watch the last half of the game, I still went home with a smile on my face.
AZKALS DID IT.
THEY’VE WRITTEN THEIR STORY.
NOW WE JUST HAVE TO BE A PART OF IT AND BY THE LOOKS OF TONIGHT, WE ALREADY ARE.
