Germany, 1909. All your life, strangers have been trying to murder you. Finally, one confesses why: they’re trying to stop Adolph Hitler from causing WW2. The only problem: your name is Adolph Hilter. Not Hitler, HILTER.
There are stories out there and ideas on this subject … IMAGINE YOU COULD TRAVEL BACK IN TIME AND KILL SOMEONE? EVEN KNOWING THAT ENDING THAT PERSON’S LIFE COULD UNFORESEEN AFFECTS IN THE FUTURE?
Imagine killing Brutus and his accomplices BEFORE they kill Ceasar?
Imagine killing Pontius Pilate BEFORE he sentenced Jesus?
Imagine killing Henry VIII BEFORE he divorced his first wife?
Imagine Killing Adolph Hilter BEFORE he came to power?
It’s easy to say, ‘Sure! I’d do it!’ … but image the world where they didn’t live?
What would have happened had Jesus NOT died on the cross? Would there even be ‘Christianity’ at all?
Henry’s death early on would have meant no break from Rome … but it would have also meant NO second marriage, NO Queen Elizabeth and therefore, no Golden Age of England.
Hilter seems an easy one … but what lessons would have been lost? Would we still cringe at the idea of mass genocide, or even blink an eye at anti-semitism and ethic cleansing? Would the United States still be in isolation from the world as the policy after WWI?
I do not ask these questions because of any one opinion … only that, it’s interesting to think, what would the world be like if one key figure was removed from history … and would YOU be brave enough to be the one to remove them?
