Frequently Asked Questions
What writing software do you use? Word.
Why don’t you use Scrivener? I personally found the platform cluttered, which is a pet peeve of mine. The additional features didn’t appeal to me, and the features I would use were, in my opinion, not as reliable as they are on Word.
Can I tell you my story idea and get your opinion? My critiquing services are available on Patreon.
Will you beta read my book for me? I am not a beta reader.
Where do I find beta readers? Social media is a godsend.
Can I be your beta reader? I am not currently recruiting beta readers.
How often do you write each day? It depends on the day and my goals.
How many days a week do you write? I work toward my writing career—whether that’s writing, editing, marketing, vlogging, etc—every single day, for roughly 12 hours a day.
What comes first, the character profile or the outline? I do them simultaneously.
Do you set word count goals? No. I set scene goals.
How do you plan a series? Create a general plot for each book in the series, then get to work on the book in question.
How do you write a book with multiple POVs? Alternate the POVs between chapters and/or scene breaks.
What font/spacing/size should I use? If you are simply drafting your manuscript, use whatever format you prefer. If you are submitting to agents, use the format they list under their requirements. If you are self-publishing your novel, check out the platform’s recommended formats, or check out other books in your genre for examples.
I’m feeling insecure/unmotivated/uninspired about my writing. What should I do? Write anyway. Professional writers work regardless of how they feel.
When should I start marketing my novel and myself as a writer? You should start marketing long before the book comes out. If you wait until after, you’re facing an uphill battle.
How long should my outline be? However long you need it to be to easily write your story.
How long are your outlines? Hella long. Like 30+ pages.
What are your thoughts on fanfic? If you enjoy writing fanfic, knock yourself out. I myself am not a fan.

Will you ever base a character on yourself? No.
Would you recommend basing a character on yourself? God no.
When do your vlogs come out? Every Wednesday evening, PT.

I want to start my own vlog – any tips? Be authentic. People can smell a phony a mile away.
Be confident. If you’re not sure of your message or do not feel qualified to speak on the matter, choose something else.
Be brief. No one wants to listen to you ramble. Get to the point, your subscribers don’t have all day.
Writers who give writing advice are naturally going to be judged harder on their writing. If you are not prepared for this, do not give writing advice. There are plenty of other topics you can choose, like tracking your writing journey or booktube.
How did you grow your audience? I posted regular vlogs that people enjoyed. If your content is consistent, engaging, and valuable, people will share it.
What is TSC? TSC is the acronym for my upcoming romantic fantasy adventure, The Savior’s Champion.
When does The Savior’s Champion come out? TSC should come out in 2018. There is no projected release date yet.
What is The Savior’s Champion about? Tobias Kaya doesn’t care about The Savior. He doesn’t care that She’s the Ruler of the realm or that She purified the land, and he certainly doesn’t care that She’s of age to be married. But when competing for Her hand proves to be his last chance to save his family, he’s forced to make The Savior his priority.
Now Tobias is thrown into the Sovereign’s Tournament with nineteen other men, and each of them is fighting—and killing—for the chance to rule at The Savior’s side. Instantly, his world is plagued with violence, treachery, and manipulation, revealing the hidden ugliness of his proud realm. And when his circumstances seem especially dire, he stumbles into an unexpected romance, one that opens him up to unimaginable dangers and darkness.

What did you do as a career before writing? I was a stockbroker and an accountant.
