actual hero harding

hey yall. i just realized something.

this is probably gonna be long but whatever. stick with me.

soooo im currently rereading the original pjo series. and i am feeling. so many. things. i realized a lot of things too.

okayyy so in PJO, we view percy as reckless. stupid. always acting on impulse. basically that dumb guy that never thinks befire doing things. BUT in HOO, we start viewing him as mature and smart and strategic and all that. But he didnt grow THAT much. Percy didnt age that much in hoo.

Remember that iconic scene (Mark of Athena, i think?) where they meet some kind of monster/bad ppl (im too lazy to search it up) aboard the argo II and it was percy that thought of saying that Dionysus was with them? Percy knew about their fear of dionysus, and how he turned them inti dolphins. So he got some diet coke as “proof” that he was there and asked frank to turn into a dolphin. Genius, right?

Annabeth called him smart after that.

That was the only time we considered him smart. (Well not ONLY, just one of the few times.) But guess what? He’s been doing smart shit like that for years already.

I cant really mention all of the times he did something smart/wise. If i did it would take me days before i finish typing.

So i realized why we only thought he was smart in hoo but not in pjo.

In PJO, it was in first person, so we saw everything through the eyes of percy. In this series, he only focused about how stupid he was, about how great other people were and how better they are then him. But he doesnt focus about all the good/smart/wise things he’s done. Percy doesnt know that he’s smart. All he knows is that he is stupid, worthless, and all other negative things.

in HOO, however, we were reading from another person’s point of view. We saw percy from another person’s eyes. We noticed things that he doesnt notice himself.

Hazel called him a god, once, because he was just THAT attractive. Everyone else looked up to him, and thinks he’s the most powerful/strongest person to exist.

But Percy doesnt know that. All he knows is that he’s stupid.

SOOOO, long story short, Percy hates himself.

Ok bye sorry if this was long I just love Percy so much and i a m f e e l i n g s o m U C h

deku and mob are both plain boys with incredible power and i love them both

Getting an Autistic d/Deaf or HoH Person’s Attention

One of the most common things I see the Deaf community explain is that you need to tap, not shout, to get a deaf/Hard of hearing person’s attention.

As someone who uses ASL because of severe auditory processing disorder and wears hearing protection for sensory issues almost 24/7, I want to shed light on the fact that, due to sensory issues and whatever else, many autistic people don’t like being touched.

I’m in that boat. My touch aversion is so severe that just the presence of people and the possibility of being touched accidentally can set off a panic attack for me.

That all said, I really need people to know that touching me to get my attention is a definite no go. As such, here are some alternatives:

  • GET MY ATTENTION VISUALLY: The best alternative is to use your hand as though you are tapping a surface (a subtle up and down movement) in my peripheral vision. DO NOT wave your hands obnoxiously in my direct line of sight. Seriously. It’s the sign language equivalent to shouting in my ear.
  • TAP OR KNOCK ON A SURFACE I AM TOUCHING: The second best alternative is to tap or knock the surface of a table or whatever that I am in contact with. The only discrepancy here is that if there is already a lot of movement/vibration (i.e. multiple people at a table), I may be tuning said vibrations out already. If you use this method, make sure it is distinct and rhythmic enough that I can recognise it apart from other peoples’ movements. It’s also important to make sure that you are tapping/knocking hard enough to be felt but not too loudly — that defeats the whole purpose.
  • MAKE USE OF TECHNOLOGY: The final option, especially if we are in a situation where doing one of the above has the potential to startle me (i.e. if I am in a quiet, solitaty environment and you wish to approach me when I am not tuned in to the environment or expecting you - like if I’m listening to music and stimming), is to send me a message on my phone. This is more for people I am familiar with and who have my contact info, but I do have a card on my key ring to notify people when I am nonverbal or having a meltdown in public that has my phone number on it. For the most part, if I am listening to music or engrossed in something on my tablet/phone, I will be more aware of incoming messages than any other time, and this method is gentler than the previous two if I am zoned out, tuned in, or hyperfocused. The main point here is to be sensitive to the fact that I can be easily startled.

And there you have it. Even though I wrote this about my specific preferences, a lot of the information is transferrable. Feel free to use/adjust/add to this list for your own personal needs, if it is useful to you.

“OH FUCK”

Feeling sort of angsty today, so here’s some Bakugo in battle, still ready to kick ass even after letting out a blast big enough to make his ears ring.

anonymous asked:

What relationships are you hoping Hiro goes more into as the series goes on? Like partnerships and pair ups.

Relationships are something Hori can picture as powerful and moving, but for now, we didn't get to see a lot of that in BNHA because characters were still young and mostly concentrating on improving. Now they’ve matured and gained experience I’m pretty impatient to see what’s going to happen. Given how many characters we have here, there are actually a lot of relationships I’d like to be developed, so I’ll give the first five I’m looking forward the most or this answer’ll just never end. I’m putting aside Izuku and All Might, as it’s surely not particular to me and everyone’s pretty much waiting a further and incoming development about them. Plus I have another ask waiting inbox about their relationship so I’m reserving my thoughts for later (what a tease I am).

1. Kirishima and Bakugou
Obviously. It’s one of the relationship that’s been carefully draught since the beginning and is ready to bloom. Kirishima and Bakugou are important to each other, now it’s up to Hori to explore and deepen this relationship. Kirishima wasn’t very noticeable before Kamino arc, but Hori planned everything ahead. It’s no wonder Kirishima and Bakugou ended up bounding the way they did. Their personalities match very well; at USJ, they ended up together fighting against villains because they had the same reaction when Kurogiri appeared; they jumped in front of others to try and land a hit on him.

They just feel right for each other. What I expect particularly is Kirishima waking up Bakugou’s urge to protect and to save. With what is currently happening to Kirishima, I hope Bakugou will actually feel something awakening in him to finally proceed towards the heroic spirit he’s still missing. Bakugou is shown caring for Kirishima. These panels are making obvious he’s specifically looking at Kirishima, noticing something is wrong and trying to help, in his own way.

It’s been made clear Bakugou is still numb to this urge to save, and at this point, it wouldn’t make sense for anyone else than Kirishima being the one triggering this urge. Another point we can’t ignore is how their rooms in the dorms are close to each other, it kinda hints it’s important for them to be side by side, even from the teachers point of view. Kirishima also relies, admires and cares a lot about Bakugou, while being aware how awful he can be and calling him out when he does something wrong.

I’m very curious about their relationship, because even in terms of narrative and character development, a lot of interesting, inspiring and moving moments could come out of it and both character could really benefit of each other’s presence.

2. Izuku and Shinsou
Reasons mentioned here. They have a lot in common, are on the same page, could easily bond and be fond of each other. I have a lot of cute headcanon for them in mind, like how Izuku already pictured Shinsou in his notebook and how Shinsou’d be embarrassed but pleased if he’d see that. Just imagine Izuku happily blabbering about diverse plans as to how Shinsou could use his quirk and both of them talking passionately about that because no one is as invested as Izuku and it would really please Shinsou to talk with him about heroic matters. I’d like Shinsou to go on a mission and Izuku accompanying him, exchanging tips and caring for him through the whole thing because Shinsou’s so overwhelmed to be here he’s not processing very well, and would be very impressed by how much Izuku has grown in such a short time. They’ve got the same uprightness and sense of justice and morals, and have great chemistry going on between them. I’d like to see them becoming close friends.

3. Asui and… pretty much everyone (minus Mineta obviously)
I love Uraraka, but my fave female character is definitely Asui. She’s so cool-headed and admirable. She’s reliable, trustworthy and caring. And she fights admirably well; I  found her really cool during their provisional licence exam!

She knows exactly what she wants to do, what’s best for her and others, so much that she won’t agree when others take decisions she thinks aren’t right. She’s so honest she’ll apologize even though she was right just because she’s afraid she may lose her friends’ trust. Friends are very important to Asui, she cherishes them a lot and isn’t afraid to show it. Asui is a good partner for everyone. I’d particularly like to see her work once more with Izuku or Tokoyami. I would find very interesting to see her team up with Bakugou. I think they could match and work well together. They even look good in each other hero costume.

4. Todoroki and Izuku
Izuku’s the one that triggered Todoroki change of mind, but after Stain arc, their relationship hasn’t been explored that much. I like how Izuku called out Todoroki and Inasa during the provisional licence exam though.

Todoroki’s still in the middle of figuring things out about himself, I’d like him to be more emotionally invested in his own convictions, and I think Izuku can actually help him convey his feelings.

5. Uraraka and… herself
This formulation seems kinda weird, but truth is, I’d like for Uraraka to fully bloom and shine by herself. She’s strong, brave and cool, I really wish we’d see her leading others and taking charge. Uraraka’s skilled and very open-minded; she’d do a wonderful job if only she trusted herself more. She’s on her way though as she realized she was maybe looking up to Izuku a little too much for her own good.

Bonus: Bakukid and Bakuparents. Their family is kinda dysfunctional but they do give a nice vibe, I’d like them to come to terms with their communication issues, and would be curious to see how they could interact if they were to share their feelings and talk about important things together.
