actresses i admire

i don't think i'm being childish, sometimes you have to choose in my opinion. that's all. how can one be a fan of both a victim and a man partially responsible for her death? a man who brags about how meaningless her death was?

Where have I stated that I was a “fan” of Charles Manson or of anyone involved in the murders? I’m interested in the case, that’s all, this is a true crime blog, it’s only normal that I will post about the case or the people involved, as for reblogging photos of Sharon Tate, it wasn’t done with malice, sometimes I reblog non true crime related things, like gifs from a movie I like or pictures from an actress I admire, if you have a problem with that you can just click unfollow.

I was hysterical, screaming. I was here in Budapest knowing when to stay [awake] and I was very happy for her. She is a stunning actress and I have great admiration for her. I learned a lot from her. Tatiana is an amazing partner and an incredible leader. The set of Orphan Black is wonderful, a great place. I feel very blessed to be part of two fantastic series, with fantastic teams. I was very, very, very happy for her!

It is a bizarre time right now, though. It seems like the world is so fast to move its interest to someone else. When I think about filmmakers and actresses that I have admired my whole life, I’ve admired their entire body of work. I have admired what they began with and what they’re doing now. And now I feel like there’s such a weird pressure to find the new face. I don’t get it at all. I want to see women evolve. I want to see a body of work. I want to see all of it.

Bernard Cribbins as Wilfred Mott from Doctor Who.

Bernard is absolutely amazing in this role. His performances evoke so many emotions. Wilfred Mott, along with Donna Noble, are probably my top two favorite characters from all of Doctor Who (Tony Curran as Vincent Van Gogh is my third).

I’m slowly working my way through a series of portrait studies of actors/actresses that I admire in my favorite roles that they have acted in.

Happy Birthday Catherine Élise Blanchett (May 14, 1969)

I had seen one of Cate’s school productions, and was pinned to my seat thinking, ‘Who is this extraordinary creature?’, with this maturity of performance yet who is still in drama school? Even when she’s doing nothing, you get this interplay between vulnerability and assurance, flickering from one to the other, which I think for the Queen is breathtaking. - Geoffrey Rush

And I saw another movie, the script was not so good, but I saw an actress I have admired for some years, Cate Blanchett. She is doing such an extraordinary performance in a movie that perhaps isn’t the best. She is really, apart from Lena Endre, she is really… well she is younger than Lena, so I would say she is the best actor of her generation and Lena Endre of hers. It is very difficult if you are an actress to be good in a bad film, but she manages that. - Liv Ullman

I always say everyone was lucky enough to be in a Cate Blanchett movie. - David Fincher

That Blanchett could appear in the same Toronto Film Festival playing Elizabeth and Bob Dylan, both splendidly, is a wonder of acting. - Roger Ebert

Cate is willing to throw herself into a chaotic state out of which something will arise. The fluidity you get in Cate is also because of the contradictions inside her. I was looking for somebody who could portray not only a reality but an ethereal quality. This ability to be both vulnerable and totally ruthless. Cate’s absolute ruthlessness is with herself, an obsessive ruthlessness about her craft. - Shekhar Kapur

She’s an actress that is not only gifted and talented. Cate Blanchett is above all a brave actress- One has to be brave, for example, to play in A Streetcar Named Desire in Broadway. I really admire her enormously, and I’d really love to resemble her. - Meryl Streep

Working with Cate Blanchett, on and off the screen, has always been a highlight for me. She embodies the perfect combination of consummate actor and world-class fashion icon. - Giorgio Armani

Cate Blanchett is mesmerizing. I don’t know why. It’s beyond my understanding. Why we all want to work with her is she elevates the rest of us. She’s just got some ethereal grace and elegance that’s beyond me, and an acute understanding of human nature. She’s just exquisite. She’s otherworldly. - Brad Pitt

When Cate Blanchett starts directing, it’s over for all of us. - Todd Haynes
