trans guy leonard mccoy
  • he knew from a young age who he was; he never really related to femininity on any level, even if his overwhelming capacity for compassion occasionally threw the more old-fashioned members of his hometown for a loop
  • mostly he spent a lot of his childhood running around in coveralls and boots; nothing else. drove his poor mother nuts.
  • “leo please put on some real clothes”
  • “look ma, I found a frog!”
  • (sidenote: she’s the only member of the family who’s not surprised when he joins starfleet)
  • her troubles didn’t stop with his sartorial choices, though, since he also tended to lop his own hair off with scissors when it got annoying
  • he hated it that choppy, but so did she–doing it himself was a guaranteed way to get her to agree to let him get a “proper” haircut from one of his cousins, who was going to school to be a hairdresser
  • (@ my fellow southerners–we all have that cousin, right? it’s not just me?)
  • (anyway)
  • bones doesn’t get surgery until he’s out of med school because, well, he’s too fucking busy to be laid up long enough to heal properly, even with regens
  • during that before time, he has a delightful habit of matching his binders to his underwear, and there’s at least a couple holos of drunken college shenanigans that record this fact
  • (somehow, even the delighted grin on jim’s face when he stumbles across them isn’t enough to make bones regret holding on to them)
  • bones also has a significantly less endearing habit of not eating as much as he should
  • used to be that the skinnier he was, the less weight in his hips/breasts/face/etc, and the less dysphoric he felt, but this habit has unfortunately persisted
  • he’s both fully aware of how unhealthy it is and no longer in need of it as a coping mechanism, but he just can’t seem to convince himself to go for more than the bare minimum, even though he loves food
  • (it worries christine, sometimes. she never says it outright, but when jim dumps an extra slice of cake on his plate on the same day bones’s yeoman hands him a sandwich with his paperwork, he knows it’s her doing)
  • he’s a decently old fashioned guy, who also has more than a bit of insecurity on top of a side helping of social dysphoria–he’s too short and too scrawny, and all throughout his teens and twenties, he makes up for those facts with a whole lot of bluster
  • (that, uh. that’s not a habit he’s managed to completely break either.)
  • (obviously.)
  • on the enterprise, he’s the cranky trans elder who can and will yell at you for unsafe binding practices, but he’s also there to be a shoulder to cry on when it’s necessary
  • (and sometimes it’s just necessary, no matter how accepting the twenty-third century is)
  • I said yesterday that genderfluid janice isn’t the one that baby enbys go to when they start to question their gender? somehow, bones is
  • he does not understand this
  • why do they always come to me, spock
  • is there something about me that screams “friendly”
  • can I eradicate it
  • but the fact of the matter is, leonard horatio mccoy was pretty much born to be a dad, and one who gives great advice and better hugs on top of that
  • mid-twenties mid-gender-crisis ensigns–they can smell that from a mile away
Maybe, just maybe...

…what Emilie or Bobby say about Rumbelle doesn’t matter at all. So what if in an interview Em focuses on Belle’s role as a new mother, or if Bobby said whatever he said about Rumple and happy endings? (I don’t know the specifics and, as you will shortly see, don’t particularly care.) Why does it matter?

I found out a few years after Gilmore Girls ended that Lauren Graham and Scott Patterson didn’t get along off-screen. Like, at all. It’s rumored that she really didn’t like him. Guess what? Doesn’t affect my enjoyment of Luke and Lorelai’s story. Luke and Lorelai are completely different people from Lauren and Scott, so it doesn’t matter if they liked each other. All that matters is that they effectively played a couple in love on screen and told a good story.

I love Em, and my passion for Bobby is well-documented, and I’m glad they got along so well on-set because they spent a lot of time together and I can’t imagine that it’s comfortable spending hours around someone you don’t like. I’m glad they’re close. But I don’t get why it matters that Emilie hasn’t been a Rumbelle cheerleader over the last couple of interviews, or why it matters that Bobby feels the way he does about a happy ending for Rumple. I like to learn how they interpret their characters and how they prepare for their roles, but from an educative standpoint. Bobby could say that Rumple hates Belle and never wants to see her again and I’d shrug my shoulders and say, “meh, whatever, think what you want.”

This is fiction, and as such, can be interpreted in many ways. They will interpret their characters in ways that make sense to them, and sometimes we’re not going to agree. But why should that matter to anyone’s enjoyment of the show, especially previous seasons?

I’ve seen a lot of excitement and expectations in Maia becoming a S3 regular. I love Maia and while I’m also ecstatic that she’s going to be a series regular I think some people are setting their expectations too high in regards to her becoming a series regular.

Being a series regular means you’ll be in all (or almost all) episodes in a season. It means the actor playing the character will be given a pay raise. It is a definite promotion for Alisha and it does mean we’ll be getting more screen time with Maia. It also means Maia will finally have a storyline outside of interacting with the other series regulars. Before Maia has almost always had a scene with either Simon, Luke or Jace. With Jordan coming in in S3 she’ll have her storyline with him and other separate storylines that may not connect or involve the other series regulars.

However (you can correct me if I’m wrong, but this is how I understand it) being a series regular doesn’t mean Maia will be a main character. In other shows I’ve seen in the past there seems to be a difference between being a main character and a series regular. I’ve been seeing a lot of posts of people excited to see Maia in the intro, having Maia in season 3 photos with the rest of the cast and season 3 photos of her by herself. And while it’s possible this could all happen I also see there being a chance that this won’t happen. Actually most likely the intro will remain the same as the S2 intro.

I just want people’s expectations to not be set so high so they’re disappointed come Season 3 promotional footage being released. It’s just best to manage your expectations so you’re not disappointed.

Yes, Maia will be in every (or almost every) episode. Yes, she will have storylines of her own with those outside the main cast. But I think it should be worthy of note that they said she’s going to be a series regular and not specifically saying she would be a member of the main cast. Maybe I’ll be completely wrong, and I honestly hope I am, and Maia is featured as of equal importance with the main seven (though Clary, Jace and Simon definitely are most heavily featured out of the main seven), but again I’m just saying this so people are not upset if when Season 3 comes along Alisha is not featured in main cast interviews, in the intro, or promotional cast photos. And I don’t want people expecting her to be getting the same amount of screentime as Clary, Jace or Simon.

Tldr; While Maia will be a series regular in S3 it’s best to manage expectations of how much she is featured in promotional material and how much additional screentime she’ll receive on the show to avoid future disappointment. I may be wrong and she’ll be just as strongly featured as the main cast, but it’s best not to set expectations too high.

so the humans are space orcs posts where we can just hide emotions from our customer service skill set, why don’t we take that a step further.

What about actors, who literally train for years to act different behaviors for different roles, from good guys to bad guys. One minute the human is kind and gentle, the next he is arrogantly addressing the pirates who invaded, all from his acting days.

Their strict memorization can help them recall lines for any situation. They can cry on cue, motivate their crewmates with a well place monologues, become the life of the party with one liners and comedic sketches.

Hell this can apply to dedicated fans. The ones who try to get in character at cosplays, or memorize entire dialogues from their favorite scenes.

Really I just want someone to write alien fic where a human quotes the wallet scene from pulp fiction and just fucking terrifies them

Let's play a game called

“Do I Love The Character Because Of The Actor Who Played It or Do I Love The Actor Because Of The Character He Played”

I want a Sharkboy and Lavagirl remake where the CGI is insanely good and the acting is super emotional and intriguing, but nothing about the story changes. Sharkboy still has to sing the dream song and mister Electricidad still has to go “YOU ARE IN MY CLASS!!! NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND”

the opposite of “pulling a jkr” (re dumbledore) is pulling a black sails. the main character is gay. there’s a lesbian. and another one. and another one. and a bi woman. even the extras are gay. you thought there’d be straight people? think again bitch

Would you consider professional flirting a power? Idk

Zen’s the guy you’d go to if you need some help in hand-to-hand, blade-to-blade combat. Replication is his main thing, and it comes in handy when tackling the bigger, badder villains. The clones however, only possess his base proficiency at combat and flirting and none of his other powers. He also has a sporadic Psionic Intuition, which allows the team to see glimpses of the future (psychic dreams anyone?). Albeit fleeting, Zen tends to be extra sensitive to the bigger-scale, future-altering, history-making events. He might not be able to see how well you’d do in a test, but he’d definitely see Godzilla rising out of the water a couple days or weeks before it happens, so don’t worry. :D

Adoptive Muscle Memory is less of a power and more of a skill he developed. Quick perception and hella body-eye coordination allows him to study your moves and learn them with time. Short battles are of no use to him, but if the duel is extended or you come back for a rematch, then watch out bc he’s probably got all ur moves figured out.

Yes, I did the math and estimated that his sword would be about 0.84m long in proportion to his height, which I think was about 5″9. I’m extra that way.

RIP Michael Nyqvist (1960-2017) - Swedish actor best known for his role as Michael Blomkvist in the Millenium trilogy films and miniseries The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl who Played with Fire and The Girl who Kicked the Hornest’s Nest; and for roles in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol (2011) and John Wick (2014), has died today due to a cancer. His career consists of more than 90 projects in between TV series and films. His recent upcoming projects were Radegund and Hunter KIller (both in post production) and he was filming Thomas Vinterberg’s next project, the awaited Kursk (to be released in 2018).

I have never found anything so cute in my life. Reblog if you understand the cute.

Curtain Call of Musical Kuroshitsuji: Noah’s Ark Circus

I found this moment to be incredibly endearing. As you probably know, because this was their final performance, Reo was very teary and shaky during the speech and he very much remained in that state afterwards. So as they made their final bow to the audience, he reached his little hands to the two people right next to him, Teruma and Yuta. He didn’t seem to have taken neither’s hand on the first try, but they soon joined hands, and then Reo turned to look at Teruma.

Long-time fans of Teruma’s William should know that he DOESN’T break character during curtain call. It’s something he has always done and he takes great pride in remaining stoic even as the audience cheer for him. But when Reo looked at him, he smiled to reassure the boy and that just made Reo hold on to them both harder, even to the point when Teruma had to let go because Reo and Yuta need to do a separate curtain call.

And of course Jinnai Soma was very upset about this whole thing lol

And here’s a picture of Teruma and his “eternal little brother” Reo because at this point why not.
