Look/13 - International Photography Festival

Look/13’ - Was a pretty good day! I snapped up what I could because some of the exhibitions, you couldn’t use a camera. But here’s what I got up to! Whilst I was in town, I also checked out a few other places such as; The Walker Art Gallery, Museum of Liverpool and Liverpool Central Library, as it has been refurbished with old & new parts and a viewing point at the top which was incredible. If you’re about, be sure to go and have a look, it’s so well structured and well done. I was so shocked. Most of them will be in photosets.

For the following artists/photographers shown, I have added a description from the exhibition shown at Look/13 so there will be a lot of text in the next few posts. They’re a good read though!

I caught the..

Sun perfectly last night with my friend, Mike. It was absolutely incredible and got some really nice shots. I then showed Mike how to do basic ‘light trails’ and I did some portraits with him as I’ve finally got a proper chance to use my new flash I got. I hardly had to edit most of the photos from tonight which has been a quicker process to get them into my queue! I also found a way to make a spotlight look with my flash which was good to experiment with. All portraits were shot with a Canon EF 50mm f1.8 II Lens, which I borrowed off Mike. I NEED to purchase one soon.

Photos will be up during today and the next couple of days! I hope you like them, I’m extremely happy with them and I’d love to hear your views. Cheers!

More photos for flash photography: I’ve got a couple of bands lined up throughout July so getting more chances to use the flash will be good! Can’t wait to do more gigs, it’s so fun.

Thanks again. :)

Larissa Sansour
Nation Estate, 2012
Poster & Lambda prints

Sansour presents a conceptual solution to Palestinian statehood in Nation Estate. She asks, what if Palestinians formed their state as a single, huge skyscraper; a building big enough to house the entire puplation? Each city would have its own floor, and movement between cities would be facilitated by an elevator. Sansour’s construction includes significant reconstructions of historic meetings places and landmarks.

I’ve changed my URL very slightly. Just so it makes a little more sense.
I will be changing my watermark/logo I have on my band photos but existing will be staying as ’CHANSPHOTOGRAHY’.

Thought I’d just let you all know :).

Lake District

Just a quick update.. I cannot wait for Sunday. I’ve just been asked if I fancied going on a hike for the day with a few friends & friends of friends in the Lakes. So excited to get out with my camera again, it’s been a while since I’ve been on a little adventure and it’ll be good to meet some new people too.

Also, sorry for the lack of posts. It’s been a hectic past few months with the band. Started gigging North West England & North Wales so it’s been good but taking most of my time along with work too.

I’m off Monday so I’ll edit a few then and throw some up so you can see what we’ve been up to.

Canny wait, as I’ve said and I’ll say it again!

What a weekend, I’ve been so rushed and busy, it’s unbelievable. I got back from Manchester yesterday at about 16:00, started looking through and editing photos at about 18:00 and didn’t stop till 1:00. I ended up doing 2 other bands on top of By Crimson Light too so I’ve had a hell of a lot of photos to come!

Hope you like them as much as I enjoyed taking them.

I haven’t been posting much lately, I’ve been working a hell of a lot more lately, sometimes 7 times a week. I have a few plans for this following month so there should be more to come! Also, plans on Canada August 2014, can’t wait!

Also, joined a new band called ’Cthulhu’. If you’re into metal, check us out. Doing some rough recordings within the next week or two as I need to get at least a 5 string bass. Then once we’ve found a drummer, we can get into a proper studio.

There will be some photos coming up today & tomorrow from a few days back. Be sure to keep posted.
