Adéwale, Achilles and Aveline were godsends to me. Then I find out about Adewale’s son and grandson and Cipriano in Ezio’s Italy and it just got better and better. Here we are, in what is probably my most favorite game series of them all, and there’s a character that I can play as, that looks like me and that isn’t in chains. I’m tired of being told that a Black or African character isn’t necessary. Since when does a person need to be necessary? When you’ve seen your face as the center of everything, I guess you start to take it for granted. If we do get an African character (as in living in Africa), I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a white South African Assassin working to save the poor brown people. I’m used to it by now.

Happy 9th birthday! Assassin’s Creed!

Thank you for being in my life: AC1, AC2 (AC: Brotherhood, AC: Revelations), AC3, AC: Liberation, AC4: Black Flag, AC4: Freedom Cry, AC: Rogue, AC: Unity! Thanks for being such an amazing fandom!

AC DLC and expansions I have very mixed feelings about. AC1 didn’t have any, but AC2 had the Battle of Forli and Bonfire of the Vanities, which were extremely enjoyable and fun to play. Brotherhood had the Da Vinci disappearance which was also really fun. Revelations honestly was pretty meh for me, but the Tyranny of King Washington episodes were fucking AMAZING. Then Liberation happened. Oh god, just end me, Liberation was AWFUL. Freedom Cry and the one Aveline expansion in Black Flag was boring to play through, although Adewale’s a good character. Rogue, which felt like a Black Flag expansion, was easily the best one expansion wise. Dead Kings was really entertaining, but nothing i’d pay money for, so glad it was free. Still to try out Jtr, but hopefully it’s positive.
