Looking forward to Bradford’s upcoming show, Scorched Earth, at the Hammer Museum opening on June 20. Linked above is a nice behind the scenes and in-depth bio by Calvin Tomkins where Bradford refers to his work as “social abstraction”. A great and fitting term given his philanthropic nature (Art and Practice) and the psychogeographical sources of his paintings.
Also, can’t wait to hear his standup routine. Seriously. He will present “a multimedia installation, Spiderman (2015), that incorporates tropes of Black American stand-up comedy, inspired in part by Eddie Murphy’s searing commentary on sexuality in his controversial 1983 concert film Delirious”.
