I think people are undervaluing how amazing it is that the LEGO Batman Movie had a character who was excited to have two dads. And it wasn’t subtle. It wasn’t hidden in the background. It was front-and-center with Robin being beyond ecstatic about having Bruce Wayne and Batman as his fathers. It was a mainstream, highly-marketed, big-budget children’s movie that showed that having same-sex parents is not only acceptable but also something to cherish. And I think that’s absolutely wonderful.
Having just seen the LEGO Batman movie, I have a strong and desperate need for Pidge to acquire a pair of Robin glasses that make her eyes go big and shiny like this:
And she absolutely hates the crap out of them because they make her look ten years younger than she already looks, but they’re always close by and handy when she needs the big-eyed vulnerable look against Shiro or Coran or any of the others.
Lego Batman is basically reverse Megamind.
If you haven’t seen Megamind and a movie about Jokes learning the hard way that he needs Batman to try and stop him for life to have meaning, with hilarious consequences, then you should check out Megamind.

Sometimes a family can be a loving and ferocious Amazonian demigoddess, an indestructible and kindhearted alien from the planet Krypton, and a tortured billionaire that dresses up like a giant armored bat.
And what I love about that scene the most is Bruce’s reaction here - he is all like “I have nothing to do with the guy”, but then goes to the window, turns his back (hiding the face) and asks casually:
