‘Abd al-Rahman b. Abd 'Amr reported: 'Uthman b. 'Affan (narrated the mosque after evening prayer and sat alone. I also sat alone with him, so he said: 0, son of my brother, I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: “He who observed the 'Isha’ prayer in congregation, it was as if he prayed up to midnight, and he who prayed the morning prayer in congregation, it was as if he prayed the whole night.” Sahih Muslim 656 a In-book reference : Book 5, Hadith 327 USC-MSA web (English) reference : Book 4, Hadith 1379
“But those who hold fast to the Book and establish prayer - indeed, We will not allow to be lost the reward of the good-doers.” (170)
Sheikh 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Naasir al-Sa'di commented on this ayah in his tafsir by writing:
“One of the greatest commanded acts which invariably results in holding fast to the Book is the establishment of the prayer - both inwardly and outwardly.
It is because of this that Allah specifically mentioned it here due to its great merit and virtue, and due to the fact that it is a scale for one’s eemaan, and because establishing it motivates and calls to establishing the rest of the acts of worship.”
Sahih Muslim, The Book of Prayer - Travellers Book 6, Hadith 308
Narrated ‘Abu Mas'ud reported Allah’s Messenger (pbuh) as saying:
If anyone recites the two verses at the end of Surah al-Baqara at night, they would suffice for him 'Abd al-Rahman said: I met Abu Mas'ud and he was circumambulating the House (of Allah) and asked him about this (tradition) and he narrated it to me from the Apostle of Allah ().
Sahih Muslim, The Book of Prayer - Travellers, Hadith 308/378
It could not be comprehended that anyone would know Tawhīd and act upon it and (yet he) would not have enmity against the Mushrikeen. And whoever does not have enmity towards them, then it is not to be said that he knows Tawhīd or acts upon it.
Sheikh ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Naasir al-Sa'di mentioned in his thematic tafsir:
“Whoever leaves something for the sake of Allah, Allah will replace it for him with something better than that. But whoever prioritizes his own desires above obedience to his Master, then he has lost his deen and the loss of his dunya follows that.”
