The beat to this song may be one of the best I’ve ever heard. That airy string loop soaring above mysterious vocal (so…I…) and staccato jazz guitar samples makes for an unexpectedly mellow and addictive groove that hits heavy and heady right behind your eyes…

I’ve heard this beat on several mixtapes around the internet, and it immediately struck me every time I heard it, but it was always buried in some 40 minute mix with no label on the track. I’ve been searching for a while, but only recently discovered the original track. I wasn’t a bit surprised its an early Madlib beat, released on an album by an LA based artist named Kazi in 2000. I don’t know if you could call it old school, but its certainly Madlib at his finest…
