Footloose was in theaters at the beginning of the year, followed by movies such as Ghostbusters, Gremlins, The Karate Kid, Purple Rain, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and many more.
Songs by Prince, Tina Turner, Cyndi Lauper, Duran Duran, Michael Jackson, and many more were popular.
This was the year of good music, good movies, good feelings, happiness, chaos, and the handful of people wondering why it wasn’t like George Orwell’s ‘1984′.
This was the year things were finally going to turn around for Peter Maximoff.
Peter Maximoff, in his (early)twenties, with (Dyed)sterling silver hair that laid snug against his ears and the nape of his neck, dark, deep brown eyes that neared being completely black, five foot, eleven inches. Slim build, which is a miraculous feat as he enjoys to snack on junk food. Still living in his mothers basement.
Cocky, stubborn, slightly arrogant, and insecure.
Works the checkout stand at a local video store, and is assistant manager of such. The manager himself is nothing special, and if anything, Peter hates listening to him. Thinks this is as good as life is going to get, but he’s surely wrong.
Best friends with his co-worker at the video store, Kurt Wagner.
Younger than Peter by a few years(Eighteen years old), and only works a few hours in the afternoon, and on weekends due to school(He’s a senior). Heavy German accent, lives in a group home after being abandoned by his parents, brown hair, blue/green eyes(Tends to lean more towards blue), Six foot, lanky build.
Religious, selfless, insecure and eager.
Kurt keeps to himself, as he works in the back rewinding the tapes. Would bring the kids from his group home into the video store once a week, usually on Friday, so they can rent a movie to watch. This was something Peter admired about him. Kurt was selfless.
Peter tends to flirt with a lot of the girls who come into the store.
Whether intentional or not, he still does.
Pick-up lines galore. “So, you gonna watch this movie alone or should I come with you?”
Has gone on a few dates with the girls he flirts with but nothing really lasts.
Has befriended a group of high school seniors, thanks to Kurt(Who is friends with them).
Scott, Jean, Ororo, & Warren.
His father left him and his mother before he was even born, so he acquired the job at the video store to help his mom with money.
Has had the job since he was 16, all through high school up to now.
Everything changed the moment you walked into the store.
You lock eyes with him as you walk in, giving a polite smile before going on search for the movie you wanted to rent.
He ended up freezing on the spot though, and Kurt had to check you out because Peter refused to move.
Listening to the small talk you and Kurt were going through before discovering something.
Kurt knows you. (!!!)
You were a senior last year, when he was a junior. (!!!!!!)
Holy shit you’re cute.
“I’ve never seen her here before.” Peter mutters to Kurt, who merely gives him a look of skepticism. “Do you know her?” He was trying to keep his voice relaxed, but he doubted he was succeeding. “We had chemistry together last year.” Kurt explains and picks up a pile of VHS’ that need to be rewound. Peter swallowed and looked at his friend, “She seems… nice.” And I can’t wait to see her again.
His genre roles include A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, Event Horizon, Predators, The Signal, The Colony, and Hannibal.
He has also appeared in such films as The Matrix trilogy, Assault on Precinct 13 (2005), Mystic River, Apocalypse Now, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Mission: Impossible III, 21, and Boyz n the Hood.
Last year for Halloween I put out a bunch of posts of my favorite horror or halloween spirited films, some widely known, others less so. My tastes in horror is pretty various, you’ll find I really love horror movies that throw in some aspects of comedy though. There are a few family friendly options in here and if you want to know which ones, send me an ask/mail and I’ll get back at you. Also, I’m happy to announce I’ll be doing this again cause I enjoyed it so much last year, I want others to check out of some these classics and not so classics of my childhood(most) and adulthood. Please feel free to recommend some of your favorite films to me, always happy to check out new stuff. Enjoy!
My Twitter/Tumblr/etc icon is usually a Totoro with a Starfleet insignia in place of one of the arrow-shaped chevrons on his belly, but last year I started messing with my icon during Halloween, and this year I whipped up a bunch more “outfits” for my Totoro throughout October.
With any luck, next year I’ll finally have 31 icons - one for every day of the month!
