Tokyo Mew Mew PS1 game Battle guide!
I’ve been meaning to write a battle guide for this game for a while now, the battles themselves are pretty typical, first here’s the menu that first appears when you enter a battle;
You will be able to choose from any of these menu options, here’s a description of each according to the game;
A normal attack.
Will give you usually 2 attack options that are weaker, but use less energy/motivation.
Instead of a normal attack, “Motivation” will be used in order to perform a stronger attack. There are also team attacks that can be used.
Will give you 1 option at first, but you will gain the ability to use combination attacks once you gain enough friendship with the other Mews. There are a TON of different combination special attacks, @hikayagami made a super good English translated list for all of them! You can read it HERE~
Instead of attacking, an item can be used.
Simple and easy, will tell you how much the item restores, so just look for the number~
Instead of attacking, you can use one of a characters many ‘skill’s.
Various extra skills the Mew mew’s have, such as weakening attacks for a turn or heightening evasion for a turn, ect.
You can exchange a current member for one that’s in 'Standby’.
Here you can see I have the option to swap out Mew Mint on her turn for either Mew Lettuce or Mew Pudding who’re currently in standby.
Does nothing. In exchange, the character will gain 'Motivation’.
You can run. It is possible to fail, but if you feel you’re gonna loose, try running!
As well as these options, it’s good to note when this pops up when you perform an attack;
The green characters above the upper Chimera Anima, ぎく, indicates the animal is weak to this particular characters attacks, it also works the other way, the Mew Mews have weaknesses as well.
Aside from that, the rest of the general battle tutorial can be found in this video, where you can watch a full battle in action and see how it tends to flow. Further videos also have plenty more battles to check out~
If there’s anything else anyone wants to know about the battle system, feel free to ask!
