story time.

i went to a weird tech high school where you were pretty much allowed to do almost anything, and you were given an expensive macbook laptop to do ur homework and other shit on. its like normal high school except u could get up and go to the bathroom whenever and not get into trouble (kids asked anyway who am i kidding we feared getting yelled at jus for needing to take a whizz)

and one day, first year, two months in, the school had a big gathering because they were having a problem. yknow, with the expensive macbook laptops.

they were getting cease and desist warnings from dreamworks because somebody was downloading 25 illegal digital copies of the bee movie, every day, for two weeks straight. they were being threatened with lawsuits, so the principal and vice principal basically rounded up all these meme-infused teenagers, and told them, “stop downloading the bee movie. we could get shut down because of you. please stop.”

and it went on for another week because, whoever this kid was, hated this school so much. so much so that they tried to have it shut down in the most fucking ridiculous way possible. by downloading the bee movie, staring jerry seinfield, as many times as possible. illegally.

i remember one early morning, after i got my breakfast burrito, some friends ushered me over to one of the lunch tables and pointed to another friend’s computer. a pirating site was open, and the kid who was responsible was actually a friend of mine. they looked at me, the biggest shit-eating grin on their face, and pointed to, you guessed it, 25 illegal digital copies of jerry seinfelds the bee movie downloading all at once on internet explorer.

the real kicker was that, since the laptops were technically purchased and owned by the school, they werent tied to any of the kids legally. just the school as a whole. so no names or faces were mentioned at all in the illegal downloadings of almost 100+ copies of the bee movie, staring jerry seinfeld.

so the kid was never caught.

Based on Puppycat’s song from Bee and PuppyCat!

I had drawn the outline for this awhile back, but for the life of me, couldn’t figure out how I wanted it to be colored.  I came back to it recently and decided to give it another shot and I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out!

I know the lettering isn’t the best, it was my first time trying to use fonts without the cushion of a speech bubble and working it into an illustrative piece.

Red: sprinting fast away from trouble, carnivals, slushes, sunglasses, screaming, doing karaoke in a restaurant with friends
Orange: Kool aid, water balloon fights on a hot summer day, dancing barefoot in grass, April Fool’s Day
Yellow: the smell of old books and warm chocolate chip cookies, Sunday mornings, finally back at home, serenity, sleepy eyes
Green: Reading quietly to yourself, anxiety, camping, peace, glasses, freckles, finally getting the courage to do what you’ve been afraid to do
Blue: confetti cupcakes, museums, spinning, sprinkles, laughing, driving with the music loud, feeling silly
Purple: rebellion, rolling your eyes, smirks, piercings, neon lights, piggyback rides, black nail polish
Pink: milkshakes and diners, rollerblades, persistence, leadership, chewing gum, empowering, hearing meows from cats

  • natgeo Video by @bertiegregory. A little green bee-eater showing where bee-eaters get their name. Having said that, if you look really closely at the prey in this shot you’ll see it only has one set of wings meaning it is in fact a fly. Bees have two sets of wings. Bee-eaters aren’t actually limited to catching bees at all, they take a wide range of other flying insects including wasps, flies and dragonflies. Shot for @natgeo, @natgeowildand @stevewinterphoto. fulfilled a dream n got myself a perfect vespiquen, she’s called enkel!

Oh the irony

Back in good ol’ 8th grade, I had be chosen to enter our district’s spelling bee. Finally when the day came and I got my name tag, I realized my name was spelled incorrectly on it. It was no biggie because that happens all the time and anyways I was thinking that I would kind of go with the flow and get eliminated whenever. Unfortunately, my competitive side took over and I ended up winning, being the first spelling bee winner with their name spelled wrong on their name tag in front of the entire speller administration.

in news that will probably excite no one but me and maybe @crackedverbosity i have just finished spending almost every free moment of my week off drafting the thirty page first chapter to a VERY FLUFFY FFXV promptis comic chocked full of chocobos (O    v  O) <3 it’s a very merry un-birthday gift to myself <3
