I really like your drow clothing redesign, although i would like to know what you think of the "canon" drow style of dress
Thanks, glad to hear it. And … well … if by “canon” you mean stuff like this:
Which contains one of my biggest pet peeves: women in very revealing outfits - but then the men are fully clothed. And it makes extra little sense for the drow! Like. I’m pretty sure that in a society were women have absolute power and men are considered to be good for one thing only, it would be the other way around.
That is, if you must have skimpy outfits at all. I mean, they live underground. So, unless there’s some efficient central heating installed through-out the cities, they would really want to bundle up! And there are plenty of ways for clothes to reflect a society’s messed up gender roles. :))
Apart from that … well. All the dark and spiky leather that reflecting how evil they are doesn’t really bother me. Can be edgy and fun. Just isn’t something I feel inspired to draw.
ah, i’ve got something to say- i haven’t even seen this villainous show yet. but i’ve seen the sheer amount of discourse around the show and i feel like i gotta say something as someone who’s an animator…
okay, i don’t like this LTF person (a storyboarder on the show) either. they’ve definitely done some awful weird stuff in the past, i’ve watched most of it unfold live throughout the time i’ve been on this website. don’t like it, don’t care for the person- HOWEVER! what do you guys THINK goes into making a cartoon? an entire team of people, a LOT of people work on a show- writers, visdev artists, character designers, background designers, storyboarders, sound designers- these are just a select few of the jobs on a cartoon, and not one person takes care of each job either. a lot of WORK, TIME, and EFFORT goes into making a cartoon- way more than people ever expect.
i’ll be frank and honest- i just think it’s incredibly inconsiderate to discount an ENTIRE show just because someone on the team used to be a weirdo- i’ve seen the callout post, you’re really going to call someone out for drawing home stuck NSFW from like 2013??? a part of the call out post was them listening to some punk band for christ’s sake, and half of the wording in the call out post was even “they have since stopped saying/doing this”. again- i really don’t care for this person either, i’m just saying.
it takes a ton of people, hard work, and effort to make a cartoon, and for people to discredit an entire production crew because of a single storyboard artist is incredibly silly and just plain rude.
Random fan blogs, Instagram and twitter accounts are not a source as long as the fans didn’t take the pics by themselves.
And “saved on my phone” is also only a source if you shot the pic yourself.
Please people, source your pics and edits.
It’s not just the only respectable thing towards the artist but also the best way for fans to find the highest resolution pics possible. Sometimes I try to add sources to someone elses post but it gets harder and harder to find the originals because of so many unsourced and uncredited edits floating around. If you appreciate not only the artist seen in the pics but also the artist who actually took the pic and gave you access in the first place, then try to find the original post and add the infos to your uploads. Imagine your admired person in the pic treated the same as the people who upload original content. It’s an impossible scenario because then you’ve mostly never heard of them!
Treat artists with respect. The ones in front of the camera and also the ones behind the camera.
And to take it one step further: it’s best to avoid paparazzi pics where they invade the personal life of people for the sake of money.
All these people freaking out about news outlets in South Korea doing a media blackout of BTS news and their winning the Billboards. Shall we take a closer look?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but weren’t people JUST saying how great it was outlets in Korea stopped their regular programs to announce the win? Did I imagine that? (Spoiler: No, I didn’t, calm your pants people). If you want to say news outlets are “burying the story,” that’s one thing. However, to say it’s a blackout is absurd:
I mean, you know, searching for BTS might not come up with any results from Korean news outlets, but that might have something to do with their writing system being completely different and BTS being called something different in Korea or something, I don’t know (sorry, it’s 2 a.m. and I’m salty).
The argument that does hold weight to me comes from those who say it’s not about how many articles are written about them in Korea, it’s about how they’re presented. Basically, these people say BTS’ win is buried under news about other artists in South Korea and not being recognized for the big deal that it is. Okay maybe. A few things to keep in mind:
1. News is news, and the news never stops. All these huge news outlets aren’t going to focus on something in the entertainment industry for more than maybe a day or two after the event occurred, if that. Even if it’s huge for Korean entertainment, it’s just not going to populate the search engines or the homepages of Naver or other similar sites because more than likely non-entertainment-focused outlets aren’t going to be creating more than one or two articles, TV or radio spots on it. Sorry, that’s just not the way world news outlets work. And there’s a lot of stuff going on in the world and in South Korea right now.
2. I hate to say it, but maybe South Korea doesn’t think this is as big a deal as you do. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I think it’s huge, and I would love if the boys were being called music heroes heralding the way for Korean entertainment in the U.S., marking the occasion with parades and a holiday. It might just not be a priority. I don’t know, it’s just a possibility. It may even be something that isn’t felt immediately but will be honored in other ways. I’d be interested to hear what people in South Korea have to say about BTS right now, more so than the news outlets. But you’d have to take to social media to see that, and unfortunately I don’t know Korean well enough to help you there ;)
3. According to Wikipedia, JYP is BigHit’s parent organization. Why do I bring that up? Because of the argument for why the media would be doing a blackout of BTS’ achievement. People are saying the big three (JYP, YG and SM) are threatened by BTS and BigHit, a smaller company that has achieved so much, and are working with the media to downplay their success.
Okay, so back to the parent organization. Also according to Wikipedia, a parent company is a “company that owns enough voting stock in another firm to control management and operation by doing and influencing or electing its board of directors.” So my thing is, while JYP may not hold any or much stock in BigHit’s doings anymore, JYP’s name is still connected to BigHit, whether the information is currently relevant in a legal sense or not.
I could be wrong about ALL of this, and to be honest, I’m really glad people are sort of looking into it, because accountability is important. But just because someone tweets it and it gets retweeted and someone EVEN MADE A VIDEO doesn’t mean we all need to freak out and start insulting Naver, its product the Naver V app, or South Korea’s media as a whole. There’s mania and there’s discourse. Let’s have the second please?
[[The Ema&Apollo drawing used here is by ikm218 !!! ]]Emapollo Week will be June 12-18! Emapollo day is June 15th, right in the middle!
I’m a bit late in organizing and posting this, but better late than never.
This is a week to celebrate Ema&Apollo, so it doesn’t have to be romantic per-say! If you love them as friends, or as your favorite defense&detective team, or any other way, feel free to participate as well!
Sticking to the theme/prompt is optional; if you have any content you’d like to post for the week that doesn’t fit with the theme/prompt of the day, but you really wanna participate/post it, it’s okay!
Writing, drawing, cosplay, audio, music – all creative forms are welcome!
Remember to tag everything as Emapollo Week ! Any further questions feel free to ask. I can’t wait! :]
Why are people so mean! Why do they push others until they can’t take it anymore and leave! It’s so childish! So stupid! You target those who are already depressed, and you tell them only what the depression says to them already! You are helping their depression take over. DO YOU FUCKING PEOPLE WHO DO THAT SHIT WANT TO DRIVE SOMEONE TO FUCKING SUICIDE?! I’VE SEEN COUNTLESS PEOPLE LEAVE TUMBLR AND KILL THEMSELVES BECAUSE THEY JUST CAN’T FIND THE GOOD IN THEMSELVES. MY OWN GIRLFRIEND TRIED TO KILL HERSELF ONCE BECAUSE OF MEAN PEOPLE LIKE THAT. I’M FUCKING DONE SEEING OTHERS GETTING HURT AND KNOWING THAT NOTHING I SAY WILL HELP, NOTHING I DO CAN SAVE THEIR LIFE. Because I’m just one person… one insignificant, stupid, selfish, boring, defiant, weirdo, bitch, slut, gay, mother fucking person. and i can’t help… and i know it…
Thank you for asking about me lol yes I’m still alive, just super busy and with no conditions to write atm.
You guys can send asks and requests (they will close once May ends!) and I’ll answer whenever I have access to my desktop (my data on mobile is limited).
If you want, you can tag me in photos, memes or such (specially if you’re talking about my 368 biases) in @kpopthirstaddicted (tumblr app doesn’t let me answer them right away, idk what is happening - sometimes I can’t find the post people tagged me at, but once I’m on my computer I’ll check all the tags, alright?). But if it’s something smutty, then tag me here on SFA!
Thank you guys for still being around. Thank you for reading my stuff and waiting patiently for updates. My life is going through some changes and I appreciate you’re still here with me. Writing has been helping me cope and getting through a lot of stuff. Friendships I made here as well. Friends, mutuals, followers, you’re all very important to me.
Thank you. I have the absolute understanding that I’m very flawed and still need to improve. So if you’re still here despite that and you actually enjoy the things I write it means A LOT to me.
Thank you one more time. It might be a long confession, so thanks for listening. So, again, I’m alive lol!
Don’t ever let people make you feel bad for spending time on your notes/making your notes look pretty etc
So many times I’ve had people say ‘that’s a waste of time’ or ‘you’re so extra’ and it makes me so angry !!
If spending an extra 2-5 minutes to make your notes look a little prettier is going to help you learn them better, or even if it just makes studying tolerable then that’s okay??? Keep doing it!!
There’s honestly no worse people than the people who will try and make you feel bad about doing something YOU want to do
the best thing about the whole fyre festival is the fact their in the bahamas like it’s not a deserted island there’s literally a town 15 minutes away there’s a mcdonald’s down the street sandra stop crying
I’m disgusted with events that took place over the last 12 hours or so on Twitter, and I’m even more disgusted that this is a thing that happens repetitiously. So, here is a list of basic etiquette for meeting DnP in public. Honestly all of this is common sense, but apparently some people need to be reminded of it:
(Once you have read this, you have absolutely no excuses for your actions should you ever meet them (not that you had any excuses to begin with) and shall have 100% responsibility for your actions.)
(Also, these rules apply to any stars/celebrities/humans in general that you may encounter and apply in any location or scenario.)
DON’T take videos or photos of them without their consent, full stop. It’s a breach of their privacy, which goes against their fundamental human rights and is therefore illegal in almost all countries around the world, countries like Australia and the UK included…
…and if you do, DO delete it/them, especially if they ask you to. Again, it’s illegal and just morally wrong to take/keep/post non-consensual footage of them.
DON’T follow them or stalk them. It’s common sense and is for the same reasons as I listed above (it’s illegal), so if I get anyone questioning why, I will be really disgusted and disappointed.
DO go to meetups if you want selfies and if you want to meet them. The very reason meetups exist is so that you can meet your favourite stars in a consensual and relaxed environment, so take advantage of that rather than springing a trap on them outside of said consensual environments.
DO remember that DnP are no more or less human than us. I’ve seen people using the argument that they’re celebrities and that they should expect to be followed and whatnot, but they have the right to privacy as much as any of us and can feel frustration as much as any of us, so treat them like you’d treat any normal member of the public.
DO remember to distinguish between running into them coincidentally and deliberately tracking or following them. Running into them coincidentally is something you didn’t expect or intend to happen, therefore not your fault. Following or tracking them is 100% a conscious action so you are expect to take full responsibility for whatever may happen.
DON’T use “Oh but it’s a public area” as an excuse for following them. I’ve seen and argued with so many people who have used that excuse, but it doesn’t make following them any less morally or legally corrupt. Just because it may be deemed a public area doesn’t mean they’re always willing to interact with any people in it in a public manner. They are in public for the sake of sorting out shit for their own personal lives, it’s not an automatic invitation for anyone and everyone to follow them. Besides, Dan specifically said in a liveshow not to follow them in airports, so listen to them when they say that and assume the same request applies for any other public area.
DON’T think that they’re okay with being followed just because they offer to take selfies or whatever or because they don’t call you out on following them. I do wish DnP had more backbone regarding this, but the only reason they may agree to interacting with you is because they’re very selfless men who put their viewers wants (wants, not needs, because meeting them is not a necessity in life) before their own, however that doesn’t mean they’re comfortable doing it. Don’t take advantage of that selflessness.
DON’T remain under the impression that they live to serve us. They are under no obligation to do anything for us, not even on the internet, and it’s only because they’re good and admittedly-over-generous people that they do so in the first place. Just because they’re entertainers online sometimes doesn’t mean they’re idols to be objectified and dehumanised all the time, everywhere. They have their own lives and personal needs, exactly the same as we do.
DON’T be surprised if you receive backlash for doing things like what those people did today, you deserve every nasty tweet, post and DM you receive (unless you receive death threats or anything like that, which is never okay).
DON’T feel you have the right to defend yourself if you receive backlash, because you honestly don’t.
One final thought: you ever think about why celebrities imply or say that they want to live a ‘normal’ life? It’s because of stalkers and followers like the ones today, people who completely dehumanise them and put them on a pedestal where they’re expected to stay and be leered at 24/7. It’s not fair to enforce this on fellow human beings, especially with human beings as gracious and patient with us as DnP are. You don’t deserve to be called a ‘fan’ if you can’t love and value and respect them properly.
People want to get a single parrot because if they get two then the parrot won’t like them as much.
But then they don’t want the parrot to view them as a mate.
What did you expect? You got a pet in which most species mate for life. Their lives revolve around their mate, preening their mate, feeding their mate, having sex with their mate, raising babies with their mate, driving away competitors from their mate, and yes, spending their entire life with their mate.
You prime them for this situation by you or a housemate being the only ones available, and then freak out when they want to do this to you. It’s natural. It’s not bad. Your parrot isn’t misbehaving, it isn’t a bad bird just because you are keeping a wild animal in a captive situation where it just wants to do what every feather on its body is telling it to do. Stop treating it like such, stop punishing them for displaying mating behaviors.
Do what you signed up for by getting a single bird or work to get your bird a feathered mate. That doesn’t mean buying the first bird at the pet store you see and throwing them in a cage together and wondering why they don’t like each other. That means becoming a match maker and setting up play dates, or even consider rehoming your bird to someone who can.
Stop buying parrots and expecting these wild animals to be pets. They’re not. We’re on the way to domesticating birds like budgies, cockatiels, love birds, Indian ring necks…but we’re still so far from being able to keep them happy and healthily easily like we are with chickens and pigeons who thrive with us. Hell, starlings make better pets than parrots since at least they often choose to be with us.
And please, when you’re researching any animal don’t do a quick google search. Talk to as many people as possible, both new owners and experienced owners.
Honestly it’s so dumb to say to a mentally ill person that they shouldn’t label themselves like when someone tells you they have cancer you’re not going to be like “you shouldn’t label yourself” or such a thing, both are legitimate illnesses so shut up maybe???
