a poem within a poem

Freckles;
sprinkled delicately across your skin,
like mini constellations.
Outward projections
of the universe within you.

I Wrote This For You (Estela x MC)

Summary: When the group is rescued from La Huerta, do fantasies within the island end as well? Estela struggles with this as she debates whether to tell him (MC) how she really feels. In the end she knows she’ll just fade away from his life. And maybe that’s why she had written this poem - because she knew he’d never get to read it.

Author’s note: Prompt was “Estela and MC, after the island, watching the sunset.” Requested by @stormrunner74. One more thing: Can you decipher what Estela really wants to say with(in) the poem? (Rating: T)

I Wrote This For You (Estela x MC)

Estela clutched the poem in her hand. The paper had crumpled badly, mostly because she had crushed it in her palm. She had meant to give it to him before slipping away for good. The group had just been rescued, and everyone was celebrating on the deck. She was standing beside him, gazing at the sunset over La Huerta. He had asked what was on her mind — he already knew her too well. She just shook her head in response. Estela closed her eyes, breathing in the last physical memories of him, knowing that when they docked, life would go back to normal. She had no place in his world, not anymore. She crushed the poem in her hand, still not wanting to let go, but knowing her words will never, should never reach him.

I wrote this for you

I wrote this for you because you will never get to read it
Not in this realm, not in this time.

I wrote this for you to tell you how I ache for our mirror souls
Never destined to meet, to kiss, to touch
while knowing (we were meant to be together.)

I wrote this for you
Because you will never look into my eyes
nor feel my touch
(Let me touch you, caress you, feel your skin on my fingertips.
Let me get drunk beneath your touch.)

I wrote this for you because you will never know
The (trembling,) of my heart as (I wait for you)
The sweet caresses of your voice, your smile, your eyes.

I wrote this for you because you will never see
or feel how much (I pine for you)
each day
each hour
each moment
With me wondering how you are and what you’re doing
then diving back again into an abyss of self-pity and regret
Going out of my mind
Thinking you’ve probably got her on yours.

I wrote this for you
to mourn our missed connection.

The sunset before us may be the same (we stare at it together)
As is (the moon and the starry sky).
It once comforted me that at least on this earth, at this moment, we were somehow together,
But now I see how vastly naive the heart can be.

I wrote this for you
to tell you I (love) you
that my souls echoes yours
but I wonder why it feels like
it’s just

(me)

In my mind’s eye I watch you look into the sunset, imagining a world of possibilities
Without me
Without the thought of me
And my heart hurts and it sinks
Then floats aimlessly
Feelings flailing, floating nowhere, unknowing of what’s up or down
Till the tears flow down my cheeks
(Lay me down with you, lay me down.)

I wrote this for you
Because I will I never tell you.
My heart is just too proud
My walls (The walls) just too high (are just too high)
(Please break them down)

I wrote this for you
wondering if, somehow, you (write to me) too.

Feels like I’ve heard this many times before
and here you are reminding me
it’s time, it’s time, to try again
while I find no strength or hope without
you gently whisper look within
but I’ve fallen down on so many occasions
an angry, fearful, petulant child shouts
yet if you insist, I’ll try once more
though please stay close, I have my doubts

I just realised the gray words in your book make up a sentence!

Yes! A few poems have gray words and they make up secret messages within the poem :)

A Dream Within A Dream
——————————-
Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow-
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.

I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand-
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep- while I weep!
O God! can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?

You and I
Were never meant
to share the same sky,
You and I
Are collisions of nothingness
Holding the meaning of emptiness
Within our stone cold hearts.
—  L.M

A dream within a dream

Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow —
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.

I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand —
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep — while I weep!
O God! Can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?

Your Lord dwells within you. Why need your outward eyes be opened?
Kabir says: “Listen, my brother! My Lord, who ravishes my eyes, has united himself with me.
—

Kabir Das

That meeting place is within you. There happens the ultimate union, the ultimate marriage, where you and the whole meet and dissolve into each other, and disappear into each other. That disappearance of the two into one is what ecstasy is. Ecstasy is the ultimate freedom, and then one simply shouts in joy, “This is it! This is it! Eureka! I have found it."And the irony is that you need not go anywhere to find it. It is already there. It is your very core, your very being. If you decide to find it, you can find it this very moment. It does not need a single moment’s postponement. An intense thirst can open the door. A great urgency can right now make you free.

- Ecstasy The Forgotten Language
