O15: MiniCat - Mate, Date Me!
Hope you enjoy your random selection!! :)
Room Mates In Love Prompt: We drink similar coffee, enjoy snacks together, and play the same games with the same friends. Let’s go on a date, okay? See ya at 10 tomorrow morning, roomie.
“Tyler, we need more coffee creamer.”
“‘Kay. It’s on the grocery list. Anything else?”
Craig looked over the pantry in thought, checking through the snack bins and looking over the shelves. “Good. Pocky maybe? Cheese Nips? We need more Lunchables-”
“All but Lunchables. Those are hella expensive, man. We aren’t kids anymore, Craig.”
Tyler sighed, “Alright, fine, you spoiled brat.”
“Fortnite? The new game that Delirious keeps talking about is going on sale at GameStop today. 25% off. I’ll pay for it.”
“Okay, 2 copies?”
“Nope, make it 4. Evan and Nogla should try the game out too.”
Tyler watched Craig rummage through the fridge. He leaned back against the counter and glanced over the list.
Both of them added similar things, cheese crackers, lunch snacks, coffee creamer flavors of similar variety by the same brand, sandwich ingredients they both liked, and even soda flavors.
Craig went silent, glancing over his shoulder to check if Tyler was grinning. No, he was frowning and he had a serious look in his eyes.
“I know, she recently left you but don’t you think that joke has gone too far-”
“No, really. We’re literally the best-est of friends, Craig. We both love caramel, we absolutely love junk food, we love the same kinds of games, and we literally have the same friends.”
“That just makes us best friends, Tyler.” Craig was frowning now too, but instead, his eyes held a sort of sadness in them.
Tyler couldn’t understand why. “I don’t care. Try it with me. We can experience it together. Tomorrow, in the morning when we both wake up, let’s go have a date to a breakfast cafe. I know just the place.”
Craig seemed to think it over. He smiled softly then sighed, “Alright, but you’re paying. I’m already paying for the groceries.”
“Deal.” Tyler smiled.
Craig turned to him and closed the fridge, “Might as well add milk and eggs and bread to the list. I might cook us up something to eat for breakfast instead and we can go to that place you know and just drink coffee.”
“Sounds like a date to me.”
