a king lives for his people

This GOP congressman suggested Muslim babies are a threat to “our civilization”

  • Iowa Republican Rep. Steve King appeared to publicly endorse the supremacy of white Western cultures, over those of non-white immigrants — again.
  • Responding to a tweet from a European right-wing Twitter account about “Islamists” in the Netherlands, King praised far-right Dutch politician Geert Wilders and said, “We can’t restore our civilization with somebody else’s babies.”
  • Since King is an American politician who does not live in the Netherlands it’s hard to see how “our civilization” could mean anything other than white people in that context.
  • On Monday King doubled down on his comments to CNN, telling them he meant “exactly what he said.” Read more (3/13/17 11:20 AM)

“Wahaha! Best King the Underground ever saw!”
“I am the only King the Underground ever saw!”
“And we couldn’t have asked for a better one.”
“Thank you, my oldest friend.”

Asgore managed to rule the Underground for millenia. He kept his subjects alive, he gave them hope, and when the time came, he let go and allowed them to live in peace on the surface. Always felt like he could use more people in his corner, and I’ve always loved the idea of him and Gerson being close.

Got7 at the mall
  • Mark: Touches everything, buys nothing. Accidentally flirts with all the cashiers.
  • Jaebum: Like a white knight, he's drawn to the outcasts. He says it's better because he'll be the only one wearing it. Well, there's a reason for that.
  • Jackson: Goes to buy things for himself, leaves with bags full of presents for other people. Always asks for a discount.
  • Jinyoung: A ritual shopper. Subconsciously goes to the same stores in the same order every time, like clockwork. Knows all the employees by name, and asks about their lives.
  • Youngjae: The hat store's biggest patron. Once had to be forcibly removed from the pet shop because it was half an hour past closing time and he just wouldn't leave.
  • Bambam: He is the king, and the mall is his kingdom. He knows every store, every sale, every nook and cranny like the back of his hand. The cashiers all know ridiculous rumors about him, a la Regina George. Surprisingly frugal.
  • Yugyeom: Spends so much time in the food court that the workers think he's a store employee playing hooky. Always tips the piano player.

@instishoot I personally think Benny is kind of underwritten and… confused character, but it kind of might be the point about the kind of state Mr. House is running? He preserved New Vegas in a stasis, under the glass globe that he loves so much, but only the buildings could be left unchanged. People are different now and Mr. House is the only one who remembers the real city of Vegas. Everyone else has just a concept of it, from stories and old photographs, a dream of the city of game and vice. So New Vegas attracts people who want to play make-believe, to be someone from these glorious pre-war days, but without truly understanding the original that they try to imitate. Like the Kings who don’t know who Elvis really was, but live impersonating his style. And Benny, who was a savage tribal nomad his whole life, tries to be this classy, suave gentleman-gangster, without having a real reference. So many things about him are performative - his speech pattern, when literally no one else talks like this, his goddamn suit, even his “code of honor” - he tells the Khans that he won’t kill someone without looking them in the eyes first, and he even digs a grave for the courier. We know that Benny doesn’t really care about killing the courier, but it’s a matter of style - he gives the famous “the game was rigged from the start” speech, because he wants so damn hard to be this classy mafia mastermind instead of a brutal tribal.

EDIT: my shitty wording here implied that tribals are actually savage and brutal, which is of course bullshit, sorry for that. The point that I was trying to make was about Benny’s own perception, how he tries to move away from one stereotype by pretending to be a kind of diametrically opposite stereotype. He specifically distances himself from the Khans on the matter of how to implement violence - “Maybe Khans kill people without looking them in the face, but I aint a fink, dig?”

For us, the players, his speech pattern and suit are so jarring and ridiculous because we know the original he’s aiming for, we know that he misses the mark by a mile, but he himself doesn’t. And this is all very tangible things - people trying to live up to their ideals without realizing what these ideals were really made of, and in the process becoming something new and different, that might look silly, but deep down it’s bittersweetly human, and for details like this I love FNV.

And this is how entire New Vegas under House’s rule works - things only look like the past on the surface, but if you really look at them, you can see that everything is a clumsy imitation, even if played on a real location. Mr. House thinks he preserved his Vegas, but his tragedy is that he he turned his beloved city into a caricature of itself.

Kanej – Hades and Persephone

- she weaves flowers in her braid, she draws the light amidst the darkness he created

- he walks past her in her silks, peacock feathers in her hair, as she turns around, her eyes searching for his, but all he can watch is the pomegranate in her hand and its juice dripping to the floor like blood

- she sees the world from above and below, from the depths of the Barrel and the spires of Ghezen’s Hand; half of each year spent on either side of life

- she is the daughter of life, of sweeping fields of yellow wheat, the sweetest fruits, the coast of Ravka, etched into her memory alongside her mother’s scent and father’s voice

- he lives in fog and smoke, in alleys buried between houses that rise so high they squeeze out the sky between them; he sees a world painted in black and red, thrives on other people’s agony and despair

- he makes her a queen – his Wraith queen and he the king who built their court

- there was never a more fearsome thing: the girl who chose to stay in his underworld, all the more threatening because of how kind she was, how hardened she had become, how capable she was of cruelty, yet of love at the same time

- she took him for what he was, she understood the need for the Lord of Death – their world might be worse for him, but he had made Ketterdam a city in which she could fight her way out of her humiliation and hate and that was all she cared about

- he was their king, but nobody was as feared as she, nobody drew everybody’s eye like the little Suli acrobat, ruthless captain of her death-ship, fearless in lofty heights, every other Barrel boss’ envy

- she took death from him, he life from her; they complemented each other, they had to be together, join together to defy the rest of the world

- he didn’t want to be bare, to let everyone see what his life in the underworld had made of him, what death had supposedly done to him. She saw him and cradled his hands in hers, as she realised he was still human, still had a heart beating in his chest.

- her lips spoke of the summer, dripping with honey, drew him towards her, but repulsed him at the same time. Her words spoke of darkness, her eyes of revenge. They drew him towards her, too.

- she was a cracked mirror like him. Her surface gleamed silver with the moon enchanting him, but she didn’t make a secret of her past. Not to him.

- they lived in the shadows, they lived in the secret alleys of a city which was home to ghosts floating along the streets, hiding what they were, forgetting it. But they were as happy as anyone can be under those conditions. They were fighting day to day, but fighting the battles they lived for.

He had always wondered how Old Stoneface had felt, that frosty morning when he picked up the axe that had no legal blessing because the King wouldn’t recognize a court even if a jury could be found, that frosty morning when he prepared to sever what people thought was a link between men and deity–
The sensation flowed into his veins like fresh warm blood. It was the feeling that you got when the law ran out, and you looked into a mocking face on the other side of it and you decided that you couldn’t go on living if you did not step over the line and do one clean thing–

Teenager James T. Kirk and Kodos, TOS: “The Conscience of the King”

In 2246, an exotic fungus destroyed most of the colony’s food supply, leaving the eight thousand colonists in serious danger of starvation. Governor Kodos made a drastic decision: he ordered the deaths of four thousand colonists, so that the other four thousand might live, selecting those to be killed according to his personal theories of eugenics. Earth forces arrived earlier than expected, but too late to save the four thousand people Kodos murdered.

Hi my name is Aragorn son of Arathorn heir of Isildur descendent of Numenor King Elessar of the house Telcontar and I have long ebony black hair (almost as long as my name) and icy blue eyes like limpid tears and a lot of people tell me I look like Beren (AN: if u don’t know who he is get da hell out of here!). I’m a man but I live for over 100 years. I have pale white skin. I’m also a Dunedain ranger, and I go to the Prancing Pony Inn in Bree where I brood in the corner (I’m eighty-seven). I’m a goth (in case you couldn’t tell) and I wear mostly black.  For example today I was wearing a black cloak with black trim and black boots and black clothes and smoking a black pipe. I was brooding in my corner in the Prancing Pony. It was night-time and raining so there was no sun, which I was very happy about. A group of hobbits stared at me. I put up my middle finger at them.

The History of Middle-earth \ House of Haleth Part I

The Haladin entered Beleriand in F.A. 312. Unlike The House of Bëor before them and the House of Hador after, they did not advance to Estolad but instead dwelt without leave in the south of Caranthir’s realm of Thargelion. The Haladin had no overall leader and so settled in scattered groups in that region. This style of living though came to an end in F.A. 375 when a host of orcs assaulted their territory. In answer to this Haldad took command of the people, building a stockade between the angle of the rivers Gelion and Ascar south of Sarn Athrad. There he led the defence of his people until he and his son Haldar were slain whereupon his daughter Haleth took up the leadership of the house.

King Thingol of Doriath granted to Haleth the Forest of Brethil on condition that she defended the Crossings of Teiglin. She led then her people and they settled as woodsmen centered around the capital of Amon Obel. For the following years they guarded the northern flank of Nargothrond. Eventually Haleth died but as she had produced no heirs the title of Chieftain of the Haladin returned to her brother Haldar’s line and to his son Haldan who ruled for 31 years before dying leaving the leadership of the house to his son Halmir. After the fall of Minas Tirith, the Haladin were harassed by frequent Orc-raids in the Crossings from Tol-in-Gaurhoth. When the Union of Maedhros was formed, Halmir offered the aid of the House of Haleth and made preparations for war but a year prior to the Nirnaeth Arnoediad he died and the promise was left for his son Haldir to fulfill. Haldir took part in the battle where the Haladin covered the retreat of Fingon and suffered heavy losses on Anfauglith. Haldir was slain alongside his brother Hundar. The son of Haldir Handir took up the leadership but he himself was slain in one of the many orc raids on Brethil at that time and the position passed to his son Brandir. Their defeat allowed the forces of the enemy to access and sack Nargothrond.

Victuuri Frozen AU

  • Victor is a young prince who discovers he has the power to control ice, and at first he’s fascinated but then slowly realizes that he can’t control it
  • It comes to a head when he’s a teenager and he loses control in the palace, accidentally shooting a small son of a servant in the chest with his ice powers, making the boy pass out
  • the boy lives, but Victor is horrified with himself, so he leaves the palace, leaving king yakov & the others distraught. he secludes himself in an ice castle where he can’t hurt anybody else again with only his younger friend yurio, who travels back and forth between the palace and the ice castle, trying to get victor to come home and failing
  • years pass, and katsuki yuuri is a young boy in the village who has been told tales of the ice prince for ages, they hold a festival for him every year bc yakov is still upset that he left. yurio is the only person who knows where he is but respects his wishes and his location is a badly-kept secret
  • yuuri has a small strand of silver hair, but he has never known why
  • he gets lost in the woods one day, and it’s cold out and he’s freezing, and he can’t remember which direction he came from, and he doesn’t have his phone with him
  • but he finds a man in the woods, silver haired, alone, looking at him with an analytical, fearful expression
  • the man takes him into the ice castle (which isn’t made of actual ice but w/e) and gets him blankets and warm tea and tries to help him but is simultaneously horrified
  • as soon as yuuri feels better victor tries to kick him out, but yuuri figures out who he is
  • (that’s when yuuri turns around and victor sees the strand of silver hair)
  • (and it’s the little boy he’d hurt so many years ago)
  • and yuuri forgives him, tries to get him to come home. victor refuses but yuuri visits him often with yurio, who pretends to hate him but secretly loves him
  • they slowly but surely fall in love
  • eventually, victor comes home and they live happily ever after
  • (((also, yes, olaf is yurio. we were all thinking it. i was thinking it, you were thinking it. makkachin is the moose/caribou thing whose name i can’t remember)))

“Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me!” None of us want to think that we are wretched. When we compare ourselves with others we think we are somewhat better or okay, we don’t realise how wretched and pitiful we are. When Isaiah saw the LORD Almighty in all His glory, he said, “Woe is me, for I am ruined! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I live among a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.” When he saw the holiness of God, he recognised his own sinfulness. We can never go to God in this sinful state. Today, we have a Savior, Jesus Christ, who died for us. He will save us by His grace and make us righteous, all we have to do is place our faith and trust in Him. Would you ask Him to be your Saviour and Lord?

Tonight’s episode was amazing. We got Murphy calling Bellamy and the others “his people”, but then sticking with the person he trusts most. We saw Kane actually acknowledging Murphy. Kane trusting that Abby will succeed to keep them alive, and being absolutely right. Bellamy being told that one day he’ll feel like he’s worth to survive. We got Clarke talking about Lexa with her mother. Clarke giving up Lexa for her people’s lives. Roan being a badass king who takes no shit and threats from no one. Monty saving Jasper on the last second. Monty and Harper being more than an one night stand. Literally everyone’s characters being how they should be.

This episode was great and everything seems to be taking a right course. I’m proud of the writers and the cast and can’t wait to see what the next episode has in store for us.

But can you guys imagine?

If Mon-El had been taken back to his planet as a prisoner with his parents and just lived his life out under their rule in quiet desperation but thinking every day about all of the things that he shared with Kara and missing her and hoping that she was safe and happy on Earth? But then one day his parents die and he finally becomes king and over time he does all of the things for his people that she inspired him to do just by knowing her and helps his people elect a wise and good leader and he hands over the reigns for them to rule themselves justly? So then he decides to travel back to Earth, decades later, to see if she is still there and okay and it turns out that she is and she still loves him too… she has carried him with her the whole time just as he has her and they are reunited and it is like they were never apart except that the fire between them burns even brighter and stronger. And they become heroes together and spend their free time catching up on all of the movies that he missed while he was gone and eating ice cream and telling each other stories of their lives while they were apart until they fall asleep and wake up together every morning.

okay but i know a lot of people are on the knight jeremy train, but hear me out for a second

king jeremy

one of the youngest kings out of the current kings to rule. he may not know a whole lot, but he tries his best to learn all he can so he can run a successful kingdom. who always puts his people first and is one of the kindest rulers. who creates beautiful buildings and structures either for people to live in or to decorate the kingdom. who is fair and kind and courageous. a man who is a nightmare on the battlefield and can destroy armies with little effort. a man who charges into battle with hell’s fire in his veins. who, after every battle, weeps for the lost lives and goes to the homes of the knights who gave their lives to say his condolences to the families, should their families be alive. a king who gives it his all to protect everyone, even if they have committed crimes.

literally just give me king jeremy who tries his best and is always optimistic and trying to make his kingdom a welcome place for all to come to.

• Turbo being plugged in for the first time
• Turbo winning his first race
• And his second
• And third
• He’s sure it’s just luck because he is a new game, but he can’t deny the fact that winning a race is his favorite feeling
• The more races he wins the more word gets out about this rookie racer with a lot of promise
• Turbo, being the new game he still is, getting really flustered when he goes into central station and finds out he has fans
• Newbie little Turbo making friends with the twins in blue because he still doesn’t fully know how competitive racing is
• Turbo recognizing that kids come over and over again to race him and he can’t believe it because he’s just a little racer game but so many people, real live people, love him
• Turbo hearing people call him “The King Of Kart Racing” for the first time
• Just…….Turbo before all the fame went to his head and he began to game jump

But Also:
• The pain of his code being ripped apart as both his game and the one he jumped to are unplugged
• The identity crisis as he reminds himself that he’s Turbo, even though that without a game he’s nobody
• Having to survive in the shadows because he’s technically wanted for murder
• Slowly going crazy as his code, the very thing that makes him who he is, screams at him to drive a race car drive a race car drive a race car drive a race car dr̴iv̕e͞ a͏ ra̵cę c͜ar͏ dri̷̢vȩ̴̷ ̶̀́a҉̷ ̨r҉̵à̵͜c͘͡e̕ ̴ca̴̛͏r͠͏̕ dr̸̷̶i̛v̴̴ę̵ ̕͟͝a͏͘͝͡ ̷͟͟ŕ̶̛͢a͟͠͠c͢͢͡͡e̴̸̢͜ ̨̀ç̴̷͟a̸̧r̵̸͟

And Finally:

ElfWeek - Day four: Elven realm(s)

In a great cave some miles within the edge of Mirkwood on its eastern side there lived at this time their greatest king. Before his huge doors of stone a river ran out of the heights of the forest and flowed on and out into the marshes at the feet of the high wooded lands. This great cave, from which countless smaller ones opened out on every side, wound far underground and had many passages and wide halls; but it was lighter and more wholesome than any goblin-dwelling, and neither so deep nor so dangerous. In fact the subjects of the king mostly lived and hunted in the open woods, and had houses or huts on the ground and in the branches. The beeches were their favourite trees. The king’s cave was his palace, and the strong place of his treasure, and the fortress of his people against their enemies.

[…] This was the bridge that led across the river to the king’s doors. The water flowed dark and swift and strong beneath; and at the far end were gates before the mouth of a huge cave that ran into the side of a steep slope covered with trees. There the great beeches came right down to the bank, till their feet were in the stream.

Inside the passages were lit with red torch-light, and the elf-guards sang as they marched along the twisting, crossing, and echoing paths. These were not like those of the goblin-cities; they were smaller, less deep underground, and filled with a cleaner air. In a great hall with pillars hewn out of the living stone sat the Elvenking on a chair of carven wood. On his head was a crown of berries and red leaves, for the autumn was come again. In the spring he wore a crown of woodland flowers. In his hand he held a carven staff of oak.

“Zeno s prophecy”-Soo Won s aim - a battle between humans beings and gods?

1.” Zeno s prophecy”

Zeno has sometimes the habit of spouting out predictions that you can easily think of prophecies….(Just that I am not sure, if they actually are prophecies…)

According to the little blond dragon, that lived for quite a while…

The peace between Kouka and Xing can not be achieved with “ordinary means”…

Conclusion: You need the “heavenly help” of the “Dragon Gods” that love King Hiryuu (or the young Red Dragon Yona)

2. Soo Won s aim

Zeno s trust in the “heavenly actions” is the clear opposite of Soo Won s point of view…of Gods that just watch….

Soo Won s reign depends much on the “power of the people”

His decision was answering Kouren s

and his own wish

Excluding any possible way to solve the problem with peaceful means…

So the party s solely basing their powers on the “human factor” met a dead end or (didn´t try to search for a peaceful solution….)

On the other hand…Zeno s prediction may come true…

Shortly after Zeno s words…it started to rain…as if the heaven would disagree with the battle…

After all on a wet ground it is harder to battle…..
