a golden thread

Dreams

Anubis was in my dreams last night. He was there when I went to bed as well. Just reminding me that it was Wednesday and that I missed last Wednesday. He made it very clear that he wanted me to pull a few tarot cards this morning. He was “tarot!” and “read the cards”. He left me with the image of Him guiding my hands as I pulled cards from a tarot deck. One problem… I don’t have a tarot deck. I asked if he wanted me to use my playing cards but he said no that would be more complicated for me. So I used Golden Thread to do a dream reading which he was fine with. Turns out, he thinks I’m getting too comfortable and wants me to understand that I still need to work hard and not be afraid of what is to come. I was surprised at first but the more I thought about it, I realised he was right. I was getting lax with things. I haven’t been actually working hard towards a goal.

🌟THE GOLDEN THREAD TAROT🌟

I’ve only just been able to tear myself away from these beautiful cards in order to make this post. They arrived this morning and ever since, I’ve just been handling them and taking endless photos. I swear, it’s impossible to take a bad picture of this deck!

Some thoughts and first impressions bellow the cut!

Sometimes simple is best. A lone candle🕯, a cup of coffee ☕️, and a tarot deck. I’ve been working on being more minimalist lately as I’ve found that when clutter is removed your mind becomes clearer and better able to pick up messages from the subconscious.

What are your thought on minimalism? 🖤

My witchy iOS apps.

Wow! I’ve never gotten more than MAYBE 15 notes in my many years on tumblr. Thanks, witch fam!

UPDATED*** Here are some app links for @valicorne and others who requested. They should all be free. Some of these are also in the Android Marketplace, and for those that aren’t, there are comparable ones.

And my mom has a baller sigil making app on Android I envy: Sigil Automatron. Anyone know of a comparable one for iOS? (I don’t want just a paint or photoshop-like app, but one specific
To making sigils)

Not all the full names show in the screenshotted app view, which is why some of you struggled to find them. Sorry!):

1. Tarot Card Memorizer: Pretty self explantaory. This is a nice reference when you’re trying to learn card meanings.

2. Pendulum Charts Free - a plethora of charts. I like using that on my iPad, not super useful on a smaller screen, aka my iPhone. Can also use to reference for making your own charts on paper, or woodburning like I’m working on.

3. Golden Thread Tarot - Really nice free eversion of great physical deck. Nice for witches on the go, or witches on a budget.

4. Crystals And Gems - Handy reference guide for both physical and metaphysical attributes.

5. Mighty Timer - temperature, time, and amount of tea you need for the perfect cup. Great kitchen witch app, especially if you grow some of your own herbs for tea, like I do.

6. TimePassages - Free daily horoscopes, meanings, planetary bodies glossary and then some paid options for chart downloads.

7. Herbs Guide - Herbs for health and cooking. ***never take any information found on the Internet or via apps as medical advice. Seek professional medical help if you have an issues. This witch is very pro-science and modern medicine, despite making teas, tinctures, and herbal salves. Those are merely supplements to help relieve symptoms.

8. Dreamboard - my favorite digital dream journal

9. Runes - pocket advisor - Get one, two and three rune readings. Also helps you learn the meanings of elder futhark runes.
10. SkyView Free -This overlays constellations and other astronomical information when you open the app and point it at the night sky. Uses your camera and GPS to know what it’s looking at. Works inside, too. I impress the heck out of people when I whip this out at stargazing events.

11. Best Essential Oils and Aromatherapy Guide Pro - This app, containing six broad sections - guides, application, single oil, oil blends, aromatherapy and weight loss. Again, this is not to be used in place of proper nutrition and medical attention, and be very careful when using essential oils. All need to be diluted with carrier oils, and some are dangerous if you’re pregnant, etc.

12. Spellcaster - tarot cards, horoscope and pre-written spells. Not my favorite, but fun to flip through.

13. Celeste -LOOOVE. Celeste allows you to calculate a natal chart, which you can view on a zodiac wheel. You also get a description of all the planets in signs, not just the sun sign.

14. Star Chart - This is similar to skyview. I haven’t played with it too much so I can’t vouch for it quite yet. I think I prefer the skyview interface.

15. Free Candle - Different candle options, and you cna blow them out. Great for on the go candle magick/meditation, and for those who aren’t allowed to use candles in apartments/dorms/etc.

16. The Pocket Pagan - “This unique Pagan app includes a map of the USA and Canada filled with Pagan, occult and New Age stores, a handy correspondence guide for quick magickal look-ups, and a calendar that shows you the next full moon and Sabbat dates. Quick links can help you find the latest news, blogs and videos too. One little widget shows the real-time moon phase too.”

17. Moon - current moon phase - Love this. Very simple interface for when you JUST want basic full, new, waxing, waning moon info.

18. Herbs in Magick - The application contains information about more than 200 herbs and their magickal use. No internet connection

Personal headcanon for the Taaco twins in order to justify my over-blingification of their designs:

When you’re poor, one-meal-per-day-poor, at-least-we-have-a-roof-over-our-heads poor, everything that shines is gold to you. You want this uselessly complicated “exotic fruit, emerald flower, ivory soft” soap; you want the perfume in a shiny golden box that leaves glitter on your fingers; you want that too-rich food that swears it contains two dozen different types of carrot and has too much cream; and you absolutely don’t care if it’s tacky or unhealthy or actually cheap. You want what you imagine luxury is, and luxury is to have Everything.

The bigger the better. No time for subtlety. No time for refined shit. You want to swallow everything you can because you never have anything anyway – let me have this, let me have this.

Lup steals her first dress in a thrift shop: it’s covered in thirty different patterns, overly-saturated, obviously made in bad quality fabric, with too much ruffles and poorly painted wooden pearls and plastic sequins and loose golden threads. It’s the ugliest piece of shit, but it’s a lot, it looks like a lot. She wears it until she can’t anymore, and even then, she still keeps it because hey, who knows, maybe someday she’ll make a new dress out of it? You have to keep these things, they might get useful again someday. She says that of all the clothes she owns and never throws anything away. “You never know”, she says. You never know.

Taako loves these super cheap, way too bright to be true jewels you can buy dozens of at the local market: he pierces his ears himself, in dozens of places, just so he can wear more of these pseudo-gold plated hipster earrings with suns and stars and intricate patterns that leave green stuff on his skin and cause the holes to bleed and leak pus two times out of three. He still wears them, and still loves them. Who cares if it’s not an actual diamond? A shard of glass shines just as bright, with colourful tiny patches of light that dance on the palm of his hand whenever he holds it in front of a candle. Plus, it’s not like he could ever get an actual fucking diamond, so.

So.

The trick is not not-to-be-poor, but to look like you’re not.

(The first time Barry buys Lup an actual good dress, something made of silk, maybe, or comfortable velvet, something colourful and shiny but something nice, she straight-up refuses to wear it. It’s too much, too real. How much money did he put in this? Why didn’t he save it in case something happens? She just can’t have that. They argue until Lup can’t even find words to put on the gut-wrenching feeling she has and bites her lips until she tastes blood, incredibly frustrated and angry and afraid, so afraid, of this fucking real nice dress.)

(Kravitz looks nice, pretty boneboy, handsome faced reaper man, and like, Taako knew this, Kravitz’s a man with style – so he eyes his jewellery at the Chug N Squeeze, and sure, he’s not wearing much: two small earrings, a couple of bracelets, a broche with his goddess’ insignia on it. It’s a small round crow with a bright orange eye. It catches the light in a way Taako’s jewels don’t, and suddenly, something nasty turns his blood to ice when he realises it’s because it’s an actual fucking gem – and the rest is too solid and heavy to be gold-plated.

Kravitz is wearing solid gold jewellery, and for the first time in forever, Taako, bright, loud, pseudo-fashionable Taako feels cheap.)

They never argue when people call them too-much, greedy, shallow. They don’t care. All they have are rhinestone bracelets, fake crystal stones, glittery nail polish, colours and cheap glamour: they’re the king and queen of fake it ‘til you make it, so they just. Don’t. Fucking. Care.

All of the tarot and oracle cards I’ve bought so far this year. I’m making this post now as I think my collection is as complete as it’s going to get for the time being. I finally got all of the decks on my wishlist and the only remaining ones I’m interested in haven’t been released yet.

I found this little gem myself a few weeks ago. It’s great! I’m learning and memorizing my cards much easier now. It’s cute, fun, interactive, and it gives you practice readings after your daily lessons too. Beautifully put together, great lessons, and adorable characters! If you want to learn I highly suggest downloading this app and it’s tarot companion apps.

speak your mind even if your voice shakes

tell me a lie

you were a masterpiece, but then everyone saw you

I smell autumn

yes I function with out a heart

my mom won’t like you

please do not touch

there are so many types of art but {name of idol) is my favourite

seize the day

fragile, handle with respect

I was the perfect roe that drowned

happiness is a great colour

you eventually will run back into it

keep your heart closed but mind open

qualified meme-ster

ambitious

s/he was so artistic painting smiles on every face but her/his own

did s/he forget to love

ask no question and you’ll get no lies

people change quicker than you think

society is an ugly burnt ass cracker

how many secrets can you keep

only fools fall for you

meme queen

everything I ever loved, I lost in the magic

seek joy, embrace joy, share joy

if you don’t build your dream, someone will hire you to build theirs.

autumn kills summer with the softest kiss.

no tears for the creatures of the night

you will let go

the colour yellow is really under-appreciated

im a petty bitch

Im a golden thread; fragile but valuable

a little bit of sugar, but a lot of poison too

confusing reality with dreams

and I will fight even if I break

smile

fuck im broke

give me a sign

you’re one of a kind and no one understand

make your life a story worth telling

in conclusion, im bitter

but one day I’ll stop falling

(idol name)’s the tear in my heart

im soppy and emotional so stay the fuck away

yikes

have I fit into society yet?

is this any better?

create you’re own path to an adventure

I let you out, and everyone saw

send memes

glazed donuts

late nights, red eyes

entertain my faith

*instrumental*

sometimes to stay alive you gotta kill your mind

I’m Fiji water, you are toilet water

see good in all things

we rise by lifting other

oh no, not you again

you still have Facebook?

you make me emo

just keep going

but do you know my aesthetic?

wheres the leak ma’am

be like spongebob, create fire in the ocean

can life go back to when I didn’t understand it

How do I silence my sins

I will burn again

did I give you permission to break my heart?

red blood, black heart

dear society, do you accept me now?

a thornless withered rose

a touch of gold

fuck you I don’t care I failed

aesthetic mind

my brain is 80% song lyrics

im at the top but I still don’t see you

left me in the dark

stars fall and the world goes blind

sorry mom I promise to never be a a bad bitch

if you’re lost just look for me

dismayed mind

fuck of weirdo

home is where the art is

keep your dreams close to your heart

teach me your contour blending ways

find a way to be yourself

first you find yourself

let me glow bitch

I don’t want seconds

take on life like a swan; calm and serene on the surface, but paddling like hell underneather

(idols name) fills my heart

mom can I be savage now?

do ya thang

neither lost nor found

have a positive mindset

im honestly a troubled kid looking for dank memes

don’t look back, chase whats in front

no thanks, I don’t want leftover

I want to create

a black cloud in a black sky - nobody notices

oops sorry I spilled out my heart

I found the heart, but its empty

did I leave a stain on your heart

I thought this was eternal

buy me food pls

I asked for the word, and you bought me a carrier bag

sorry only dark humour is accepted

you made it this far kid

you’ll probably love me

too lazy to socialise

I found my happy ending

Staring down misty mountain passes and spinning in wild circles on the side of the road, choppy hair fanned out like a child’s drawing of the sun and clinging to my cloud-dampened cheeks, golden threads stuck in grinning teeth. The air smells like pine and half-remembered campfires built by hands bigger than mine and suddenly I am five years old, gathering sticks and leaves and fodder to start a fire while Papa finds logs to keep it aflame. Almost twenty years later and I am standing here in this forest that I have never stood in before with trees that I have never met and yet they whisper my own memories to me until I feel I am as young as I am ancient, stretched infinite in each direction.
Trees are a timeless magic… if you stand still in a forest long enough and listen to the slow chatter of their leaves, the long sighs of their branches growing taller and roots stretching deeper,  you can hear all the world’s secrets.

Paladin Week: New Magic Items for Paladins in D&D 5e

Check out these new homebrew paladin-oriented magic items for D&D 5e!

Armor of Command

Magic Armor (any medium or heavy), Rare, requires attunement by a paladin or cleric

A set of +1 armor that shines dimly with divine light when it deflects a blow. A paladin or cleric attuned to the armor can use their Channel Divinity to cause the armor to shine brightly with divinity, calling to a creature to submit to its power. You may force a creature that can see and hear you within 80 ft. to make a CHA saving throw with a DC equal to your spell save DC. On a failed save, the creature drops to their knees and bows to you in submission until your next turn. Regardless of the result of the saving throw, the creature takes 2d8 psychic damage.

Belt of the Sacred Mount

Wondrous Item (waist), Rare, requires attunement by a paladin

A leather belt with plates of steel every few inches. The belt buckle depicts a golden horse’s head. When the wearer summons a creature with the Find Steed spell, the creature gains a bonus to attacks, damage, and AC equal to the wearer’s proficiency modifier.

Boots of Enmity

Wondrous Item (feet), Uncommon, requires attunement by an Oath of Vengeance Paladin

Boots that are of patterned reddish brown leather with steel toes that look like a hellish church gargoyle. An Oath of Vengeance paladin attuned to these boots may spend a bonus action to teleport to a space adjacent to a creature currently targeted by their Vow of Enmity ability, provided the creature is on the same plane of existence and within 60 ft. of the paladin.

Compelling Weapon

Magic Weapon (any martial), Uncommon, requires attunement by a paladin

A compelling weapon is gaudy and covered in fine metals and gems and is slightly larger than an average weapon of its type. It deals a bonus 2 psychic damage with each hit. When the weapon scores a critical hit, the weapon casts Compelled Duel on the creature hit. Creatures immune to the charmed condition are immune to this effect.

Corrupted Gauntlets

Magic Item (hands), Rare, requires attunement by a paladin

A set of iron and chain gauntlets with fingerplates that look like sharp dragon scales. It gleams with sickening iridescence. A paladin attuned to the gauntlets can make a melee spell attack against a creature. If the attack hits, the paladin may spend any number of points from their hit point pool for their Lay on Hands ability to deal an equal amount of necrotic damage to the creature touched. You may spend 5 points at once to poison the creature for 1 minute in addition to any damage you dealt. The creature can attempt a CON saving throw with a DC equal to your spell save DC to negate this effect.

Crown of Radiance

Magic Item (head), Rare, requires attunement by a paladin

A simple golden band studded with glowing orange gems that rests on one’s head at about forehead height. This item’s magic adds 10 ft. to the radius of your Aura of Courage, Aura of Protection, and Aura of Hate (if Oathbreaker paladin). This item also increases the radius of auras generated by spells such as Aura of Life, Aura of Purity, and Aura of Vitality.

Divine Storm Pauldrons

Magic Item (shoulders), Rare, requires attunement by a paladin

A set of heavy metal shoulder guards that have stylized lightning bolt motifs segmented by faux rope fashioned of bronze. You may spend an action to deal 8d6 lightning damage to all creatures you designate within a 30 ft. radius centered on you. Creatures that succeed at a DC 16 DEX saving throw take only half of this damage. Once you use this ability, you cannot use it again until you complete a long rest. In addition, your Aura of Courage, Aura of Protection, and Aura of Hate (if Oathbreaker paladin) are suppressed until you finish a long rest.

Gauntlets of Divine Shielding

Magic Item (hands), Rare, requires attunement by a paladin

A set of bronze gauntlets that are warm to the touch, and surround themselves in a sphere of white light when used. When the attuned paladin uses their Lay on Hands ability on a creature, they may instead grant them a shield that absorbs an amount of damage equal to three times the points spent for the Lay on Hands ability. This shield disappears once it has absorbed all of the hit points it can handle, or at the start of the paladin’s next turn.

Glove of Cowardice

Magic Item (hands), Uncommon, requires attunement by a paladin

A single silver gauntlet that has a relief of a face wracked in pain on the backhand plate; a depiction of a suffering sinner in the afterlife. A paladin attuned to the glove may spend 5 points from their hit point pool for their Lay on Hands ability and touch an adjacent creature. That creature must make a DC 14 WIS saving throw or become frightened of the paladin for 1d4+1 rounds. The creature may make a new save at the start of each of its turns to end this effect.

Greaves of the Mounting Heavens

Wondrous Item (feet), Rare, requires attunement

A pair of steel greaves with patterns representing the layers of the plane of Celestia. You gain a +4 bonus to skill checks and saving throws against spells, abilities, and other effects that would knock you prone.

Helm of the Smiting Glare

Wondrous Item (head), Rare, requires attunement by a paladin

This shiny bucket helm has etched lines emanating from the eye slits. Use your Channel Divinity as an action to fire a ray of energy from the helmet’s eye slits, dealing energy damage to a single creature within 60 ft. of you that you can see. The creature can make a DEX saving throw to halve this damage. The save DC is equal to your spell save DC. The damage dealt is based on your alignment (see below). The damage dice stack with one another for a total of 6d10 damage.

  • Evil: 3d10 necrotic damage.
  • Good: 3d10 radiant damage
  • Chaotic: 3d10 fire damage
  • Lawful: 3d10 cold damage.
  • Neutral: 3d10 force damage.

Lance of the Blessed Beast

Magic Weapon (lance), Very Rare, requires attunement by a paladin

A +1 lance that is fashioned to look like a giant, stylized unicorn’s horn. The hand guard is adorned with white horsehair. When the wielder of this weapon travels at least 20 feet straight toward a target before attacking that target with the lance, the weapon deals a bonus 2d8 radiant damage and the creature hit must make a DC 15 STR saving throw to resist being knocked prone. In addition, critical hits with the lance heal the wielder for 2d4 hit points.

Maul of Radiant Echoes

Magic Weapon (maul), Very Rare, requires attunement by a paladin

A heavy +1 maul that emanates pulsing waves of holy energy from its head. One end of the head is flat while the other is a mass of carefully overlapped metal triangles pointing away from the flat end. A paladin attuned to the maul uses their divine smite ability against a creature, up to one creature adjacent to their foe takes an amount of damage equal to half the damage dealt by their divine smite.

Medallion of Authority

Wondrous Item (neck), uncommon, requires attunement by a paladin or cleric

A gleaming medal that takes the form of a universal symbol of your deity and purpose. As such, it looks different for each person that attunes to it. You gain advantage on intimidation checks against creatures that are diametrically opposed to your alignment (lawful-good’s opposite is chaotic-evil, neutral-good’s opposite is neutral-evil, etc.), and gain advantage on persuasion checks against creatures that have the same alignment as you. If you have a true neutral alignment this item has no effect.

Savior’s Cape

Wondrous Item (back), uncommon, requires attunement by a paladin or cleric

This royal purple brocade cape is decorated with embroidered with the written beauty of the Celestial language in gold trimmed by floral embellishments. You may use your Channel Divinity as a reaction to instantly teleport a single willing ally you can see within 60 ft. of you to a space adjacent to you.

Shield of Divine Spellwarding

Magic Armor (shield), Very Rare, requires attunement by a 14th level paladin

A +1 kite shield of mirror-like platinum emblazoned with a holy symbol. The shield is embellished with a gold rim and tassels of golden thread. You may expend one use of your Cleansing Touch ability to cast Counterspell against a spell that would affect you or at least one ally within 10 ft. of you.

Tarot for the Secret Witches

A great place to start learning and practicing tarot if you’re a secret witch is the Golden Thread Tarot app. It’s 100% free, I use it everyday and absolutely love it. (It’s in the apple AppStore but idk about google play store) Stay safe friends c:
