a game for the whole family

I’ve seen a lot of opinions about scrapped ANF plots

but I’m absolutely happy with the one we actually got. Like in that scrapped plot Javier was a member of New Frontier who was kicked out and now he wants to get his family from there, that’s how he united with Clementine who was searching for AJ and all that jazz is boring as hell and really doesn’t fit for twdg. I understand how the developers said it looked good on paper but bad in action, they know better anyways. In that plot you wouldn’t even see David, Gabe, Mariana and Kate a lot if the whole game was about Javier & Clem trying to get them. In the existing plot we seen everyone very good and for enough time. And also we wouldn’t get that plot twist with David when the Ep2 ends with him looking the ANF leader and the main evil here, you wait months for Ep3 to discover he’s not the only leader and doesn’t even know about that assaults at all, I loved it :D

BUUUUT there is one thing I’d absolutely love to see from that scrapped plot.

THE FUCKING SLAUGHTERHOUSE

(idk is the second one concept of it or a warehouse from Ep3 but looks like it is?)

As we know from scrapped story, they had to find Mariana as a walker here, but I’d love to see something with slaughterhouse in the plot even without it! That would be such an aesthetic™, I mean for a zombie game - I have some things which I find very fitting in this setting, like a corn field or an amusement park. Also A New Frontier had that walkers which they put into the truck like when they attacked Prescott, maybe they could keep them in a place like this slaughterhouse.

Did you ever have a genuine psychic/medium experience?

Although many readings can be attributed to cold readings or sheer coincidence sometimes it’s uncanny how accurate psychics/mediums can be. Here’s a collection of supposedly genuine experiences from threads. If you have an experience feel free to tag me @sixpenceee!

I never believe in palm /card readings. I don’t actually believe in it nowadays. BUT when I was in 9th grade, my friend took me with her to a fortune teller so she can have her future read. Surprisingly she mentioned about her love dilemma, a blonde guy and dark haired guy. She was completely convinced about her reading powers while I was meh… We’re teenagers, it’s natural we’ll find ourselves in situations like this. And then she predicted the scores she’ll get at the exams when you finish high school (in our country there are some mandatory subjects for the exams, thus multiple numbers) she guessed that right. If I think really hard about probabilities and stuff I can find a logic explanation to that as well.

About 5 years ago I saw a psychic that a family friend had told me was the real deal. I went in skeptical and came out a believer.

She used tarot cards and knew things that could have been lucky guesses, like that I had just bought a house and was renovating it, but she also knew specific things that no one else could have known.

The most amazing part of the whole thing was that she knew that I had some complications with my hormones and had a surgery in the past that would make getting pregnant very difficult, but she told me Despite all this, I would have a baby later in life. Toward the end of the reading she hands me the tarot cards and tells me to shuffle them. Then tells me to ask three questions in my mind one at a time. I decided to really test her authenticity so the first question I decided to ask was am I going to have children, and halfway through laying the five cards down, she stops and looks at me and scolds me saying “I already told you that you were going to have one child!” hah this is when I knew.

This was before I was born. My mom had a neighbor who was a grandpa who could see the future. He told my mom that my sister would be really sick when she became a preteen and not to worry because she’d be okay. When my sister was a preteen she was diagnosed with cancer and after a year and a half she was perfectly fine. My mom was pregnant with me when she met him again and he told her that I would be a c-section baby. My mom already knew this and said she had scheduled the c-section already since I was breach but he was adamant that she would have me on a certain day and that the c-section wouldn’t go on the planned day. I was born on the exact day he predicted.

Nothing too crazy but the fact that he knew that my sister would be sick and would be okay is crazy to me. He also didn’t want any money and approached my mom and asked if he could do a reading for her.

Valentine’s Day Special #2

Pair : Steve Rogers x Reader

8. You ask your best friend to pretend to be your boyfriend for your sisters couples dinner party. Requested by anon.

Warning : Language

Word Count : 2,434

Three knocks, that’s all it took before Steve opened the door. He stood there, wearing a tank top and sweats, and his hair damped from sweat, which only meant he just came back from the gym.

“Hey, didn’t expect you here today.” He smiled, waving you in.

“I know, but I needed to talk to you.”

You walked in to his apartment, and plopped down onto his couch. His place was like your second home. You were always there, and if you weren’t, then you two were at your place.

“Beer?” He asked, walking to the kitchen.

“Nah, just water.”

Steve tossed you a water bottle, as he started back toward the living room where you waited.

You took a big swig of the water and felt the cold liquid trickle down your throat. Making you feel somewhat at ease.

“So what did you need to talk to me about?” Steve asked, leaning against the wall across from you.

For some reason you were feeling nervous. Which was strange. Steve was your best friend. You two were so close, you were able to talk to him about anything. He’s seen you in sweats with no makeup on. He’s helped you when you were a drunken mess. And yet, you were somehow nervous about this topic.

“Y/N.” he snapped his fingers, catching your attention. “You okay?”

You slowly nodded, running your hand through your hair. Something you did when you were nervous.

“So my sister is throwing a couples party tomorrow night, and when I RSVP’d a month ago, I was dating Jared-”

“The asshole.” He cut you off.

“Woah, language.” You teased.

He dramatically rolled his eyes and huffed. “Anyways, go on.”

“As I was saying, I told her I’d go and now she’s expecting me to be there.”

“So?” He drawled out.

You swallowed hard, meeting your best friends gaze.

“I was wondering if you can go as my fake boyfriend.” You slightly winced as the words finally fell from your lips.

A thing I will never properly write:

His sophomore year, Bitty starts vanishing from 6-9 every Wednesday night and comes back to the Haus looking really happy. Jack notices (of course he does) and awkwardly brings it up (on one of their not dates for coffee) and it turns out Bitty is going to one of the school’s (many, many) LGBTQAI+ group meetings and is like “PLEASE do not tell the boys about this, let me have this one thing” so Jack is like “of course” and totally doesn’t notice how even more people are waving to Bitty when they walk to class, or how Bitty seems to be getting even MORE texts, like, all the time.

(He definitely doesn’t hear Bitty arriving home verrrrry late one night and ending up humming all smiley to himself while he cooks breakfast the next morning, a hickey not quite hidden by his collar.)

ANYWAY.

One Saturday night Jack gets a phone call, and it’s Bitty, and he sounds furious and wants to know if Jack can please pick him up RIGHT NOW, so Jack goes to get him.

hey kit, i have news: you have a crush af
  • “He looked at the boy with the knife to his throat, the boy whose black eyelashes feathered down against his cheekbones as he glanced away from Kit, and he felt something like a shock of recognition pass through him. He thought, How beautiful.”
  • “Ty raised his head. Kit got a quick flash of the color of his eyes: true gray, that gray that was almost silver.”
  • “Ty smiled. It was a genuine, light-up-your-face-type smile, and it made Kit remember the first time he’d met Ty. Ty hadn’t been sitting on him then, but he had been holding a dagger to Kit’s throat. Kit had looked at him and forgotten the knife and thought, Beautiful.”
  • “Ty laughed. The salt air had tangled his arrow-straight black hair, and his eyes glowed like the moonlight on the water. Kit just stared, unable to think of anything else clever to say, as Ty gently placed the starfish back in its tide pool.”
  • “Ty climbed up onto the porch beside Kit and sat down. He smelled faintly of desert, sand and sage. Kit thought of the way he’d liked the sound of Ty’s voice: It was rare to hear someone get that kind of sincere pleasure out of simply sharing information.”
  • “Ty shook his head again. His black hair was sticking to his forehead. Kit frowned. He wanted to grab Ty and drag him out of the Market to somewhere it would be calm and quiet. He remembered Ty saying that he hated crowds, that the sheer noise and confusion was “like broken glass in my head.”
  • “Ty was leaning forward, his arms clasping his body tightly. Kit wanted to reach out, wanted to put his hands on Ty, wanted to tell him it would be all right, communicate it in a way that startled him.”
  • “He looked anxious, the shadows under his eyes more pronounced. Kit wanted to go across the table and put his arms around Ty the way he had the night before, on the roof. He felt intensely protective of the other boy, in a way that was strange and unnerving. He’d cared about people before, mostly his father, but he’d never wanted to protect them. He wanted to kill anyone who would try to hurt Ty. It was a very peculiar feeling.”
  • “Ty smiled, and despite everything that was happening, it made Kit want to smile, too.”
  • “He knew he ought to feel exhausted, but there was something about Ty’s energy, the brightness and concentration of his focus, that worked on Kit like caffeine. It woke him up inside with a sense of promise, as if the moments in front of him suddenly held endless possibilities.”
  • “Your whole family would miss you,” said Kit, “and I would miss you.”
Pokemon and Child Abuse

That Guzma theory really got me thinking, cuz I looked into it and it really does seem to imply that Guzma’s dad beat him with the golf clubs as a kid

and I can believe it because Sun and Moon’s underlying theme throughout the games was Family

Lusamine’s relationship with Gladion and Lillie, Lillie standing up to her mother at the end saying things like children aren’t objects who belong to their parents, Mohn disappearing and not being able to be a father to them also affected them.

But your rival Hau and his grandpa Hala have a great relationship, as well as Player and their mother. Even professor Kukui has a wife this time and semi adopted daughter in Lillie and calls you “cousin”

Every important character has their family relationships highlighted as important influences on them in this game, that really floods the whole “Family is important and will affect you” theme

So it makes sense to have the villains showcase where that theme can go wrong. When “Family” goes wrong and how THAT affects you, because really Guzma has all the telltale behaviors and thoughts of a heavily abused person

Heck Team Skull even is a family created for people with no family

*further thoughts edit*

and I kinda like how both Lusamine and Guzma as villains, showcase both sides of an unhealthy family and the influences it can have. Lusamine is an abusive Parent, Guzma was abused as a Kid. But at the end of the day, I do like that no matter how “bad” Guzma seemed to be and act like, he was still able to be redeemed and show a slight remorse for his actions as an adult, like he knew his violent tempers stemmed from his father’s violent tempers and didn’t really want to continue to the cycle, but “beating people down is all he knew”

He was like that cuz he didn’t know any other way to be, and I like that the post game stuff showed him reconnecting to his old master Hala and interacting with Kukui and building a better support network for himself, little by little, they at least showed that change was happening for him

then further with the protags they showcase three different healthier ways of having family dynamics. Player character and Mom have a great relationship with no conflict. Hau and Hala have healthy conflict where they respect eachother and can resolve issues and support eachother. Lillie and Gladion, while their mother soured their family, the way they responded back was intended to showcase the “healthy” way to respond. Lillie calling out her mother’s actions as wrong and building her own independance were the best and their sibling bonds remained each others supports (the only thing that ruined that for me was Lillie going back to her mother, which I guess I can get, if she’s her only parent. But Still. Really feel like you shouldn’t have to crawl back to abusive parents, that’s not always the best solution. Kukui is there for you Lillie let him adopt you!)

Furthermore, you can think of Team Skull and Plumeria, one of the few major characters who we DON’T know who her family, as the showcase for the effects of how not having any family at all can affect a person and how you have to try to build your own from scratch. Plumeria really does take the whole “big sister” thing seriously, she’s all they got, but also they are all that she has too.

Nerida ((mermaid gunslinger)) : How dare you!

Faena ((elf assassin)) : HOW DARE I! At least I don’t destroy whole towns like Carlos.

DM ((me))as Enemy Army: uhhhhh

All Three: TURN AROUND! WE ARE HAVING A CONVERSATION!!! ((2Nat20’s and a Nat17.))

first-year overwatch recap

happy anniversary, overwatch!!! god i can’t believe how attached i’ve gotten.
i’ve been playing this damn game since the day of its release, and it started out pretty damn different from what we have now. if you’re newer to the party, here’s what went on, roughly chronologically:

  • tracer’s butt controversy
  • shield-shatter pharah
  • turret bastion with a fucking reinhardt shield
  • swift-strike bleed effect
  • weekly brawls
  • 150hp zenyatta
  • gremlin d.va
  • that fucking impossible zenyatta achievement
  • d.va dying in her own ult
  • the bug with spawning as a random hero in lucioball and murdering the defenseless opposing lucios
  • tracer recalling inside the payload
  • roadhog hook with extremely questionable mechanics
  • getting competitive mode
  • d.va just being an incredibly shitty hero overall
  • ANA
  • everyone trying to prove shrike ana is sombra
  • the fall of genji
  • ana changing practically the entire metagame
  • getting laugh and sit emotes for everyone
  • EICHENWALDE
  • canon gremlin d.va emote
  • generous ana/the candy fairies
  • photobombing the bosses in junkenstein’s revenge
  • everyone predicting/drawing ethereal decaying cloaked glitch-ghost sugar skull mask sombra
  • sombra’s shitty arg
  • actual sombra design leaking. two separate times.
  • SOMBRA [proper character/short release]
  • that first like week on PTR sombra could glitch out of map boundaries
  • d.va still being a shitty hero even after multple buffs
  • roadhog’s hook still going through walls
  • getting arcade mode
  • no longer being able to choose duplicate heroes in QP
  • gee symmetra how come blizz lets you have TWO ults
  • tremendous amounts of salt over symmetra’s rework
  • “why is mei-rry a legendary”
  • roadhog’s fucking hook
  • n u t y a t t a
  • the glitch in 3v3 where d.va ejected into the void
  • mei escaping watchpoint antartica with her walls
  • OASIS
  • blizzard getting upset that people liked getting hit by the cars on oasis more than its jump pad
  • roadhog hook FINALLY getting fixed so it stops going through walls, only to make roadhog 10x more lethal because tagets of hook 2.0 had zero hope of escaping
  • d.va getting a nerf right after she finally became Good
  • gency discourse
  • YotR mei’s glitched ass
  • getting custom servers (and capture the flag!)
  • doomfist doomfist doomfist
  • the bastion changes that were live for two days before getting altered because it allowed him to survive practically every ult in the game
  • ORISA, coming out of nowhere
  • using custom servers as nsfw rp rooms
  • the rise of SPEED BOOSTIO; we all dspstanky now
  • shimada nipple 2 blackwatch boogaloo
  • ”REYES HERE”
  • ingame reyes shrug victory pose

there are A L O T of little balance changes i didn’t list; honorable mention to the 3x consecutive fan-the-hammer nerf, the invulnerable mercy rez patch, and the [almost] fall of ana, and the phrase “fixed a bug allowing reaper to shadow step to unintended locations in x map” appearing in pretty much every single patch since the beginning.
and some onging fanstuff honorable mentions to “hanzo is a fucking furry [and into vore]”, “can we go one fucking event without tracer getting a legendary skin”, “torblefeet” [and just. torbjorn in general.], and the whole dad76/family dynamic among the characters that quickly took hold among fans [and even blizz to an extent!]

the meta is a far cry from where it was in the beginning and there’s so many more ways to play overwatch now than when it’d first started, but it’s always been that same fun game with fun characters; here’s to another year of its evolution, and enjoy the event y’all!

Uprising: Retcons and Analyses

It’s my lunch so forgive the fast formatting but here we go:

Retconning:

1. Jack’s reason for enlisting is now confirmed to be the Omnic Crisis.  Which changes a number of things.  In his original backstory, Jack “wanted to return to the family farm after a brief stint in the Army, but was swept up in SEP, where he met Reyes.”  But now that that’s gone, this makes Jack more “worldly” and more “motivated to fight for change” in the world.  “New” Jack is much bigger, much more global than “original” Jack was.  His sights are not set on returning to Indiana - his sights are set on saving humanity.

2. Genji was not in Blackwatch as far as I am aware.  What is interesting is that this proves that not all Blackwatch missions were undertaken alone, since Overwatch would have also been involved in his rescue (when know Angela was on-hand or close by).  Blackwatch and Overwatch also engage in joint training sessions.  We can see that even though Lena is the main focus of the training, someone is monitoring Genji’s systems in the background.  This effectively CONFIRMS that - at the very least - Jack Morrison was aware of SOME of the Blackwatch missions.

This also heavily implies that - coupled with the “complaints by the Japanese government about Blackwatch” - Blackwatch was involved in the fall of the Shimada clan.

3. Liao is either entirely scrapped or has been reworked.  I personally think it’s the former.  They haven’t been mentioned in any comic thus far, and Torb and Rein consider “the old team” to consist of the Strike Team plus Angela.

4. I’m feeling fairly convinced that the promotion angle is getting massively reworked or toned down.  Gabriel’s light banter and sass over Jack’s statues, the lack of voicelines around the promotion, the fact that it is LITERALLY never mentioned anywhere outside of the “original” article makes it fairly clear that - at least on the surface - nobody thinks Gabriel is mad about it.  Gabriel himself acts nonchalant about the differences in their ranks.

5. Lena’s new timeline is VERY SHORT.  Her time as an active agent would have been relegated to the last year of Overwatch’s existence (Present time = 6 years since Fall of Overwatch, Comic takes place “7 years ago”).  This means that propaganda/promotional posters like the one in the Hero animation PROBABLY DON’T EXIST.  Which is like.  Really subtle next level retconning.

Analyses

1. “They’re not extremists, Gabriel - they’re TERRORISTS.” How relevant.  I’m convinced Gabriel and subsequently Reaper are now firmly in the Chaotic Gool-Neutral-Evil alignment.  His whole speech about Omnic Rights is FASCINATING for his character because it shows that he is actually sympathetic or understanding of their behaviors on a different level than Reaper previously implied (“Tin cans, a dime a dozen”).  This is VERY GOOD.  His subtle implication that humanity - specifically the UK - has forgotten the origins of rights and freedoms is MASSIVE for him, and reflecting on that through a “minority being abused and denied rights” (a minority he ACTIVELY FOUGHT AND DEFEATED) is HUGE.  This really pushes the theories of Reaper as a “Chaotic Good-Neutral” agent much further, especially if we consider that he may see Talon less as terrorists and more as “extreme anarchists.”  This really greatly aligns with Sombra’s whole mortality alignment and Los Muertos’ “ideals.”  Gabriel is 100% aware (and self-aware) of the issues.

2. Gabriel almost certainly does not want Blackwatch directly involved in this uprising.  His crew is already in hot water, and he has to think about the safety of his agents and their plausible deniability in the face of a UN investigation.  Gabriel’s lines about McCree “being on vacation” and “nothing you need to know” reads as him trying to defend McCree in the event something goes awry with the higher ups, while also giving Jack and Ana the ability to deny information as well.  This, unfortunately, PUTS A MASSIVE TARGET ON HIM AND HIM ALONE.  Gabriel being blamed or implied to be responsible for the fall of Overwatch by other people (namely higher ups) looks more and more realistic and possible.

3. Jack and Gabriel’s relationship (along with their friendship with Ana) is indicated as being deeper and extremely intimate.  Things to note: Jack now being the only character to call him “Gabe” (which Sombra references), Jack being able to pull information out of Gabriel even after Gabriel and Ana engaged in some sassy banter, Jack referring to him as “Commander Reyes” in his discussion with Lena, Jack using the picture of the three of them to remind himself of “what’s important.”  I’m not gonna say this is confirmation of a full on relationship between them, but they are absolutely close.  This, combined with Reaper’s “I know your every move before you even think it” line from Old Soldiers and Reaper calling him “Jack” even after the fallout, is extremely telling.  This is not an ordinary relationship between “coworkers.”

4. Jack listening patiently and calmly to Lena’s speech, being reminded of himself and his passions for defending and helping others…is very good.  Very good for his character.  A little less revolutionary than Gabriel’s speech about Omnics, but good and grounding nonetheless.  This also helps humanize his whole “you need to slow down/okay dad” lines with Tracer in the game as more cute and familial than before.

5. The new timeline is BONKERS.  HOLY SHIT.  So things have started to break down - there’s investigations and complaints against Blackwatch, and growing criticisms against Overwatch.  Other people have speculated that Gerárd has recently died based on the news headlines, but what this means is that the collapse of Overwatch happened FAST: within at least a year, Lena has her temporal problems, McCree leaves, Genji leaves, Ana “dies,” Gabriel and Jack have their “falling out,” etc.  A YEAR.  That’s ridiculously fast for an organization that’s been around for nearly three decades.  This certainly implies that the conspiracy that brought Overwatch down was FAST and THOROUGH.  Sowing the seeds of discontent quickly and efficiently, almost certainly breaking up the “joint-relationship” between Overwatch and Blackwatch within months.  That’s insane.

6.  My friend Sami pointed out that Jack’s office is simple and small - not ostentatious or large.  He literally has nothing but a desk, a massive monitor, and some shelves in there.

7. Jack being willing to step out of line for “the greater good” makes him complicit in ignoring “orders” or breaking “the law.”  This sets up a great parallel between him and Reaper, and other characters like Lúcio, the Junkers, Mei, McCree, and Winston.  And we know that the “higher ups” spun this “overstepping his bounds” as forcing Overwatch as a policing agency onto the world.  Soldier: 76/Jack not being “respected” for his hard-but-morally-correct decisions lends itself well to his jaded, bitter manner later in life.

8. GOD.  DAMN.  TEAM.  UNIFORMS.  YES.  THANK YOU.

(Unfortunately our consistent party tends to be just three people: myself, my husband, and a friend of ours. When I’m DM, I’m almost constantly caught off guard by the things my players do. Even when I go out of my way to try and come up with every possible thing they could do, they manage to do something unexpected. Here’s a few examples…)

Bear Hunting

(Story is an elven man is a mentor to a young human boy. His parents died under mysterious circumstances; everyone believes a bear killed his parents. After some investigating, it was determined that the elven man killed both parents with arrows to the heart, on account of they were going to sell their son into slavery. This follows.)

Husband: I let the elf go and go hunting.

Me: Uh, okay. What are you hunting for?

Husband: A bear.

Me: ….. *retrieves Bestiary* Ooookay then…

(He eventually succeeds in killing two bears, then brought one to the boy as ‘the one that killed his parents’. I actually, honestly expected him to kill the elf mentor…)

Overreacting

(A young boy is causing a scene in a city, harassing some guards. My players come and get the situation calmed, getting the guards to leave. It turns out that the boy’s father was a wizard who was wrongfully executed and he’s taking out his anger on the guards. Then this happens…)

Me: The boy, still distraught, casts Magic Missile at (husband). Take 2 damage.

Husband: Ow.

Friend (a ninja): I jump kick the boy in the head.

Me: ….what.

Friend: *hard stare*

Me: …. (We roll appropriately) He takes 12 nonlethal damage and is knocked unconscious.

Friend: *to my husband, in character* Shall I dispatch this miscreant for you, master?

Husband: NO.

Brothel Battle

(A slaver ship captain is in a brothel. I expected the players to just wait on the docks for him to return. Instead, they split up and end up at the brothel together. One is an Inquisitor (husband), the other is a vigilante (friend). Both are male. I fully expect both of them to enter as patrons. Instead…)

Friend: I disguise myself as a woman named ‘Rose’.

Me: …..Okay.

Husband: *shaking head*

Friend: I go inside and pretend to be looking for a job.

(We RP him approaching the Madame, and her offering rates and such things for 'Rose’. Note that the vigilante’s hero name is “The Wild Rose”, the brothel’s name is “The Blooming Rose”, and the Madame’s name is “Rosa”. The place is also heavily guarded by false patrons wearing masks. Husband comes in as a patron looking for a woman of Rose’s exact description, so he’s escorted to her room as her first patron. Then they just wait in the room for the man they suspect to be the captain to come by. After actually yanking him into the room when he turned down Rose’s advances [he preferred strong women, but Rose was dainty and childlike], they fight, and win. However, an alert goes up. I expect the pair to jump out the window. Instead…)

Husband: I run out of the room and around the corner, duck into another room, and cast Invisibility on myself.

Friend: I scream and pretend (Inquisitor) killed my customer.

(They proceeded to escape and even took the captain’s boots before they left, both of them invisible at this point.)

A Whole New Use for Bear Traps

(Same as the previous game, the two are sneaking around the house of a rich family and spot bear traps in the garden. I expect them to either move the traps, spring them, or ignore them. Instead…)

Friend: I PICK UP THE BEAR TRAPS.

Me: ….Okay, you do so.

(Few moments later, after a successful perception check to notice footsteps nearby…)

Me: You hear someone sneaking around.

Friend: …..I HOLD THE BEAR TRAPS IN MY HANDS AND READY AN ATTACK.

Me: …..WHY.

(It was an ally of theirs sneaking around, but he barely managed to NOT get her head stuck in a bear trap. Later on he used them again on a guard. Rather than roll damage, I just accepted it as the guard died instantly. For his sake…)

I’ve been thinking about the monster-based franchises of my childhood, and how their mascots indicate the nature of their franchises.

Like, Pokemon has Pikachu:

It’s cute, it’s for the whole family, there’s definitely a lot of merchandising opportunities outside the games.

Then we have Digimon’s Agumon:

It’s more detailed. It looks edgier and darker. It’s endearing, but it’s more “cool” than “cute.”

And then there’s Monster Rancher, with… this.

Monster Rancher, I love you, but PUT THAT THING BACK WHERE IT CAME FROM OR SO HELP ME

anonymous asked:

How often do you see Molly and the rest of the Weasley clan?

Harry: I see Ron and Hermione on and off during the week, but the whole family gets together at the Burrow-

Harry: I look forward to the weekends, when I can make it. The kids all get along great, and Ginny claims the family quidditch games are about ten times more brutal than anything she deals with professionally. *grins*

… It’s nice having- … being with family.

Talks Machina for Episode 101

(Huge, huge thanks to @loquaciousquark for jumping in last week!)

  • A fan sent in an arena for a future Keyleth-Grog match!
  • Everyone talks about how much more immersive the new set is, and how similar it is to the old home game. They’re also very excited to be able to all interact with the battlemaps.
  • Percy and Cassandra haven’t talked at all about what Cassandra went through with the Briarwoods, because they’re not a family who shares that kind of information. Taliesin: “They’re warm for northern royalty, but they’re very cold people.”
  • Ashley is excited about potentially getting to use True Resurrection. She also wishes she could use Harm as Pike.
  • Vax’s mindset in getting word to Korren wasn’t fatalistic “we’re all gonna die” so much as it was to make sure he didn’t worry, because they were planning head back to Zephra in a couple days and he’d be expecting them.
  • Taliesin is a little worried about what shape Victor will be in if he goes back to visit him.
  • Liam: “If Delilah pulls back a Scooby-Doo mask and it turns out to be Shaun or Allura… there will be words.” Brian: “What if it was Doty?”
  • On Pike’s crush: either it’ll come up in the game, or Ashley will mention it after the campaign ends.
  • On a tongue-in-cheek who-does-Vex-love-more question: Liam: “Well, I know when I met my wife, I immediately wrote off my family.” Taliesin: “I know when I met Liam, I immediately wrote off my family.” The consensus is that, shockingly, it is possible to love multiple people a whole lot in different ways.
  • Liam texted Laura about Vex’s secret right after the show; it wasn’t a Larkin thing. Vax just didn’t want to press the issue if she wasn’t comfortable sharing in that moment.
  • Percy’s not on board yet with Scanlan. He’s very uncomfortable about Scanlan having a gun. “He’s letting everyone else be pleased for him.”
  • Vax is pretty understanding in retrospect of Scanlan’s actions because of how much they’ve gone through. On a personal level, he’s happy and relieved to see him, even though he knows he’s flawed. Vax really liked Tary, but he believed he wasn’t part of the Raven Queen’s whole fate-touched tangle of threads, whereas Scanlan was.
  • Everyone agrees that things are not going to be the same with Scanlan after all this. Brian points out that having someone out of your life for a while and then having them come back will inevitably result in a change. Not necessarily for the better or the worse, but there will be a change.
  • Percy doesn’t think he has a destiny; he suspects he may have a purpose, but he thinks it’s terrible and wants no part of it. He does have a pragmatic understanding that you can take advantage of divine activity and that you do have to brush shoulders with the gods in this universe, but he wants nothing to do with it on a personal level.
  • Outside of the dice mechanics, from a pure story perspective, Vax really believes that he traded his life for Vex’s, and he’s not going to fuck with anything the Raven Queen orders him to do because in his eyes Vex’s life was part of that bargain.
  • Ashley talks about how the darker elements of Pike’s character are a little more of an intrusion of her as a player rather than in-character.
  • Percy’s frightened and terrified of Delilah’s return, but at the moment he’s far angrier at Scanlan than the Briarwoods.
  • If he hadn’t come across Vox Machina, Percy would’ve been the villain of somebody else’s D&D game.

Talks Machina, I-Know-What-You-Did-In-The-Dark-Last-Night Edition:

  • Even rolling at disadvantage, Taliesin wins the roll for hosting.
  • Ashley: “I won a karaoke contest in Jackson, Mississippi.”
  • Liam met Laura directing on an anime called Gun Sword; she was brought in to cover some bit parts and completely blew it out of the water.
  • Taliesin: “While there are no wrong answers in improv, there are certainly particularly-close-to-wrong answers in D&D.”
  • Everyone reminisces about the bamfing-into-the-dragon incident. The entire cast thought it was an amazing idea and that they’d finally manage to pull one over on Matt.
  • Everyone discusses the locations their characters would hang out in if they were thrown into LA.
  • Ryan and Taliesin accidentally set off a silent alarm staying in the building too late. The cops showed up and detained them while they searched the building. They tried valiantly to explain what the heck they did there: “They started writing it down and then stopped because it was too dumb not to be true.” After a bit, one of the cops started reminiscing about his old D&D game.
