a drain on our resources

it irks me when humanitarians talk about how humans use up resources too quickly as if corporations dont literally drain our resources

i mean i agree we should all reduce reuse recycle & be more conscious of the environment

but my reusable shopping bags & 1 minute showers arent gonna drastically change shit as long as big business is slowly killing the world !!!

anyway my point is we gotta destroy capitalism

every time i read about the stuff we’re doing in space i get excited at the amazing research going on and then sad like 1 second later at how all this is in reality just a bare sliver of humanity’s potential because we still can’t get our fucking act together. like god, just imagine all we could do if we stopped draining away our resources on destructive bullshit

I am tired South Africa.
I am as drained as our resources and as close to collapsing as our current economical state.
I am tired of the inequality, South Africa.
I am tired of the racism
I am tired of the never-ending stream of Facebook updates expressing their own self-righteous opinions of our country.
I am tired of the hate South Africa; I am really fucking tired of the hate.
I worry, South Africa.
I worry about the problems a 30 – something me will have to deal with. I worry about my future and the future of my generation.
I worry about the South Africa my 7 year old sister has to grow up in,
and I know I will get my fair share of critique when I share this.
I will have people eager to prove me wrong, educate me.
But I am too tired for racial debate.
So I’m going to make sure my burglar bars are intact, I’m going to put on the alarm and then try to ignore my country bleeding as I get into bed.
I’m tired South Africa. Good night.

“My fellow Americans, these are the steps that we can take together to defeat the terrorist threat. Let me now say a word about what we should not do. We should not be drawn once more into a long and costly ground war in Iraq or Syria. That’s what groups like ISIL want. They know they can’t defeat us on the battlefield. ISIL fighters were part of the insurgency that we faced in Iraq. But they also know that if we occupy foreign lands, they can maintain insurgencies for years, killing thousands of our troops, draining our resources, and using our presence to draw new recruits. The strategy that we are using now—airstrikes, Special Forces, and working with local forces who are fighting to regain control of their own country—that is how we’ll achieve a more sustainable victory.” —President Obama

These States Drain the Most of Our Natural Resources

Compared to the entire world, the United States has the second largest ecological footprint, second only to China. But which of the states within the United States contribute the most to that ecological footprint? California, Texas, and Florida topped the list, according to a report released earlier this month by the Global Footprint Network. Researchers also found that 34 of the 50 states have that kind of “ecological debt.” Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia consumed the most ecological resources per person.
