a bit sparse but really lovely

Forgive me if this elaboration seems scattered. Lack of sleep is effecting my writing ability, but I wanted to get this up before I hit the hay. Forgive the pun.

Another doodle from @tricomator. I don’t know too much about the context, I just found this to have enough details that it must be fun to color. And, well, I was right. Tri has this wonderful imagination that pops up on canvas. Really, a pony with metal gauntlets holding a radio is only skimming the surface of what they can do.

Alright alright BokUshiKuroo. Kuroo and Ushijima met bc Kuroo accidentally spilled his coffee on him while waiting for Bokuto, and so he offered Toshi a drink. At first Kuroo is very confused by Ushijima bc god, his face is so inexpressive he can't read his emotions and Ushijima's answers are really sparse. But then Bokuto barges in and just... starts talking, and Kuroo is amazed bc he seems to get Ushijima pretty well. - Also he gets thirsty when his boyfriend challenges (1/2; Joker Anon)

Ushijima to arm-wrestling, but he roots for Bokuto - And he realizes Ushijima is friendly, just a bit socially awkward, so they meet again and again, and Bokuto and him are both “I like this guy” and Ushijima doesn’t really know how but suddenly he has two loving boyfriends and he surely won’t complain. (2/2; Joker Anon)

YES!! THIS IS SO GOOD!! I love the idea that Ushijima just one day wakes up with the realization that he has two boyfriends but doesn’t even remember when or how it happened. The super excitable Bokuto being able to read the stoic Ushijima is also the greatest thing ever

leela! have you had a chance to listen the new frank ocean track yet? i really liked it and thought the lyrics were quite tender and the eerie cyclical melodies were super reminiscent of channel orange/some of the later v chill tracks blonde, but I am keen to hear your thoughts x

oh god, i just listened to it and it’s gorgeous. i’m in love with the descriptors you used to talk about it. lyrically tender for sure, and ‘eerie cyclical melodies’ is an amazing observation. it’s interesting that it evokes channel orange feelings for you. in my head i see channel orange as something incredibly lush and richly produced, like the record on which frank decided to pull out all the stops both in the nuts and bolts structure of his music, and the sort of embellishments and production flairs that were utilized all over it. to me, if anything, i think this track feels like it could belong on endless, although the overall finish of this one is glossier than endless was. idk, i like that it doesnt quite fit anywhere. the song itself is so beautiful though, i love that the lyrics feel a little clumsy and almost impressionistic, they’re so so sweet and soft but also oblique and i’ve always appreciated that sort of poeticism in how he writes. i think he tends more towards longer stories or even character arcs in his songs and this track feels refreshing bc he’s just sort of letting himself sit with a few emotions, and i admire his ability to always get at that emotional state w relative sparseness (but then like in typical frank style ur feelin like u got a handle on what the fuck he’s talking about and all of a sudden he’ll drop a line like ‘been feelin like the lord just out of reach for me’ and it’s all a bit heartbreaking and far too real.) the other thing i really love about tracks on endless that i see in this song as well is that feeling like there’s no set melody to his vocals and it’s sort of just freeflowing and effortless. he’s so good at that. it’s so difficult to try and sing so many of his songs, and you get this sense that melody is just instinct for him when he’s writing/performing and i envy him and i want to fucking understand how his mind works and how he interacts with music. it’s like on another level and i’m always blown away by him. ahhh sorry im rambling, im v tired, but i really loved this a lot. he’s so good. tbh im at the point where i genuinely cant imagine him putting out something that i wouldnt like, bc im so damn invested in who he is as an artist and the vision he has for his music. he’s lovely.

Ladybug seems much more distracted than usual. Beyond the usual petty crime they stop at night, their patrol has been uneventful. A sleepy night sprawling across even sleepier streets. Still, she’s unusually distant, her head tilting like the hands of a compass always towards the direction of La Seine.

Smoke welled out beneath her neighbour’s door. Thick, dark fumes that spoke of danger and suffocation.

It should have upset or even alarmed Lucy, had it not been such a regular occurence.

For a moment she considered simply walking on. But her heart, as big and compassionate as it was, would not let her.

Worry and curiosity waged a war inside her, and yet both held the same result: slowly, and with a sigh, Lucy knocked on the door. Her bag of groceries dangled dangerously close to the ground, the salmon inside probably in the process of being smoked, but she paid it no attention.

Her knuckles knocked against hard wood, loud, so he’d actually hear her. Experience had taught her that her neighbour’s hearing had probably been damaged a little, from one invention too many blowing up around him.

At least the whole house was renovated and equipped with the best smoke detectors around.

The perks of living beside a crazy inventor, she guessed.

The single one that had been installed inside was already blaring in protest, but a dull thunk suddenly brought an end to its cries. Apparently the man inside was of the opinion he’d need no firemen to survive this, and Lucy knew he probably was right.

While that thought crossed her mind, the door swung open. As the cloud of smoke cleared enough for both of them to stop coughing desperately, Lucy focused stern eyes on the man standing in front of her.

Clad in working pants, with his hair pulled back in a ponytail, and charred from head to toe, he seemed to have jumped straight out of a bonfire. But there were little happy wrinkles around his eyes, a sign of many years lived with a smile, and even now his grin never wavered. White teeth shone brightly in the otherwise dark face.

“Sheesh, Igneel, you’re gonna kill us all some day.”

“Ah, Lucy dear! It’s almost time for tea! Care for one?”

February 2015 favorites!
One of my New Years resolutions was to start making posts of my favorite things of the month. I forgot to do January, but it’s never too late to start!

Beauty
Aveeno bb cream: I just started using this bb cream moisturizer by aveeno this month that I’ve fallen completely in love with. Although there is a tint, he moisturizer is very mild and doesn’t clog my pores and makes my skin look like its glowing. It feels really light on my skin and isn’t terribly thick. Would recommend!!
Benefit’s Gimme Brow: If any of you have seen photos of me before doing my brows, you know that I have really sparse eyebrow hairs. I apply a little bit of benefits gimme brow to gimme some brows every morning and it makes my brows look naturally fuller. It comes in 2 different shades and has fibers in the formula that help with thickening your brow hairs.
Smith’s rose lip balm: this lip balm has been saving my lips from the harsh and dry New England winter. It’s a little bit tinted pink and looks glossy when you first apply it.

Exercise
Nike headbands: Since I cut my hair, I’ve been using these Nike headbands to hold my stray hairs together while I run. I love the sassy sayings on the top and the rubber underneath that keeps it in place. You can find these at sports authority or your local Nike store.

Stationery
Notebooks: since the start of this school year, I’ve been using these Cambridge notebooks that have a separate line on the side to take soft notes of jot down questions. I use these notebooks in almost all my classes from chemistry to biology to calculus to french. You can find these at target
Pencil pouch: I recently switched to this little Delfonics pencil pouch that’s super simple but incredibly sturdy and surprisingly roomy. It holds my pencils, pens, and eraser and doesn’t take up that much space in my backpack. I got this from urban outfitters

Books
Yes Please by Amy Poehler: Amy Poehler is one of my favorite actresses, if not my all time favorite. I love this memoir because she writes it in a very everyday voice that makes it feel as if she’s telling you her story while you’re having a conversation with her. It’s witty, funny, and the closest thing you’ll have to delving into the world of Amy Poehler.
Roald Dahl’s Book of Ghost Stories: many of you might know that I love scary things just as much as I love comedies. This book contains the best of Roald Dahl’s collection of stories. Read this if you’re looking for a spook.

Movies
The Grand Budapest hotel is my all time favorite movie and has been since the first time I watched it when it came out last year. It contains very aesthetically pleasing cinematography and has an incredibly intricate and symbolic storyline. I recently rewatched it when I was reminded of it during the Oscars. Wes Anderson has my utmost admiration because two of my favorite films were both directed by him (GBH and Fantastic Mr. Fox).

I’ll be doing a favorites post at the end of each month. Let me know what you thought of this one and what other things you want to see (music, tv, movie, running clothes, etc.)!

  • me reading fanfic: This is so good. The author has a strong grasp on the narrative's cadence and nurtures it well with a good balance of sentence lengths. Their descriptive language is careful to hit on a range of senses, and their similes are sparse but effective. The dialogue is natural. The author has done a wonderful job internalizing and reproducing the character's voices. The reveal of information is well-paced. The most important bits are explained after artful building. The plot remains interesting throughout without sacrificing good pacing. Just a great fic.
  • me looking at fanart: This is so good. It's great. I really like this line here. And the colors. Wow. Look at this art here. I love it. It's great.
Fic: Poem Without Words (7/?) (M)

Author’s note: This chapter has been a long time timing, I hope it’s worth the wait! And you might want to have a fan handy. ;)

Chapter 7

“See you on Monday, Granny!” Emma called as she left the diner. She waved at the old lady, trying to downplay the nerves she was feeling.

Emma headed over to the parking garage where her Bug waited. She still had a couple of hours before going to Killian’s house. Part of her still couldn’t believe she was taking him up on his offer…the rest of her was a mixture of excited and nervous. Emma wasn’t naive. She had a pretty good idea what would happen once they were alone. The idea that he wanted her as much if not more than she wanted him was staggering.

She went home after a quick stop at the drug store. If things did go in the direction she suspected then she was going to be prepared. Elsa wasn’t home when Emma arrived; she had only been able to give her friend the briefest of explanations when she left her at the parade the night before. Emma had gotten home late, walking with Killian until she was shivering. He walked her to her car and kissed the back of her hand before leaving her.
