A/N: This is a timeline of how things resolved throughout the year. Each month depicts what they’ve done and how they’re rebuilding up their relationship. It’s SUPER long so I’m splitting it into two separate parts. Watch the links, they’ll be helpful. :)
Lucas Friar is in dire
need of a promotion when his boss announces an important position is opening
up. But of course, there’s a catch. His boss is only hiring someone who is a
responsible family man and encourages his employees to try to impress him at their
company’s annual couples retreat. Lucas, afraid of letting the opportunity for
a promotion pass him by, signs him and his wife up to attend the retreat. The
only problem is…he’s not married. So he turns to one of
his oldest friends for help and she agrees to be his fake wife for the weekend.
A month had passed since Lucas surprised Riley in London. When
she wasn’t working they spent the majority of their time tangled up in her bed
sheets or trying to find an apartment they both loved. Riley still couldn’t
believe Lucas left his life in New York just to be with her. She was afraid he’d
wake up one morning and change his mind. Unbeknownst to her, Lucas was happier
than he’s ever been. He finally took charge of his life and decided to do the
thing that scared him the most, he quit his job and chased after a girl who might’ve
not loved him back. Luckily for him, everything played out perfectly.
“How about this one?” Riley asks, walking over to the
breakfast table where Lucas was sitting. She sits on his lap and opens up her
laptop showcasing a realtor website. The loft on the page was huge. It had 3
bedrooms, 2 and a half bathrooms and a second level. It was a little pricey but
with the raise she just got she’d be able to afford it.
“Why do we need three bedrooms?” Lucas raises his eyebrow up
at her. “There’s only two of us and I assumed we’d be sharing a bed.” He gave
her a smirk.
“HA-HA very funny.”
She leans in to take a sip of the coffee he was drinking. “I just thought it’d
be a good idea to have extra rooms…you know for like an office space or guest
“Maybe I should start my practice before we lease a place
with three bedrooms.” He says, giving her a look.
“How about a compromise? Two bedrooms instead of three.” She
says with a big grin on her face.
“Let’s just pick one already.” She pouts, “Don’t get
me wrong this Airbnb is nice but I want to have my own home. I want us decorate
it to our liking and start making memories.”
“Aw c’mere.” He gives her a soft kiss, wrapping her in his
arms. “Look, we’ll find the perfect place. Just have a little patience. I
promise you it’ll be worth it.”
“I’m going to hold you to that.” She says, pressing her
forehead into his.
