What I Wished I Never Had

Happy Birthday Stan

Happy birthday, man. I’m glad to have a friend like you in my life. We’ve had a lot of snags, but we will always remain super best friends, no matter what. I’m glad that you’re actually happy for once, and not as depressed as you were months ago. You’re one of the people who can actually make me laugh, unless you’re having a hard time. I wish you luck with your whole being single deal, and that you find a girl that treats you and your kids well. It’s fun to mock Cartman with you, and I hope we never stop that, haha.  You’re getting old, dude, but we’re all getting old. Just keep fixing yourself, dude. You’re doing amazing and I hope that everything gets better for you.

Sorry one more on the car. This would also explain the red in the other vids. In the Anti v Dark vid, he has a huge red backdrop meaning that in this void he is WAY more powerful. When Anti comes in the Dark's red is "glitched" ;) out, meaning his power is being contested. This instance doesn't happen in any other video with Dark (I checked). As more egos file in, he tries again to exert his power, but it fails. When Chica arrives, his face is completely monochrome, almost no power.

I wish I had read this before posting the original two! Sorry about that, and I apologize for how long it took me to get to these asks. Anyway, I think what you’ve found is impressive! I had totally forgotten about that video, and I probably wouldn’t have put two and two together like that. What you guys notice never ceases to amaze me. :o But I wonder what it all means in relation to.. Everything? The bigger picture, as it were. It seems like Teamiplier really did their research and things between WKM and other Ego-related videos are connecting and making more sense all the time. I’d love to hear back from you, anon, and I’d also like to her others’ thoughts, as usual! - Em

I worked with him on Avengers “Assembled” which was one of those magical once in a lifetime career moments where you are standing next to a giant and a legend and sharing a frame with him and sharing your heart with him and sharing a precious moment with him.

We spent the entire day together running lines talking about the scene, talking about wanting to find something to do together in the future. Today that is no longer a possibility. These magical moments, the ones that whisper to you their importance as they are happening. The ones that jump out and tell you that you are in a rarefied space, that imprint deeper than other memories or experiences, that lock themselves in and become a part of the patch work of stories that ones calls a “Life”, they are such precious things. It’s easy to take for granted at the time how precious they are, one believes there will be another go at it, another chance to catch the light of a star in the palm of your hand in the span of an afternoon while working on a major motion picture, tucked off from the others, in a sacred cinematic space, where time is inconsequential and there is no camera, and their is no crew, and there are no words, there is only truth and listening and talking. That is what it was like with Harry. His humility, his commitment to acting, his generosity of spirit his kindly vulnerability were all exceptional. He was an exceptional man and I am honored to say that i got to share the screen with him albeit briefly. To date, it is still one of my favorite moments in film making. Today I treasure it even more. When we left each other that day we said, “See you again. I look forward to it.” That never came to pass, but he passed away I wish we had a chance to do it all again. So long Harry Dean, thank you for the gift of your films, your music and your being. God broke the mold on you.

Rest In Peace. Poet.

Idris Elba wants a bigger role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

During a recent interview in London, where Elba’s finishing up the editing on Yardie, a gangster flick about Jamaican drug runners set in the ‘70s that marks his debut as a director, the actor says, “I like that I have a little part in Thor. I’m neither movie star or day player. It allows me to do other things I love.” But he continues: “The last one [Ragnarok] was fun. The others weren’t fun. They’re work. But on this one, Taika [Waititi, the director] was great.”

Elba pauses for a beat, weighing whether he should say what he wants to say next. Then he says it. “I wish I was more present in the Marvel family. I like what I have, but I also wish that I had a bigger character in the Marvel universe.” Elba says that he’s never been approached to play anyone but Heimdall, including a role in the upcoming Black Panther film – or any of the studio’s other superhero properties. But he also says he doesn’t want to sound like he’s moaning about it, either. “It’s been great, but I kinda think I need a bit more. I want to be a superhero. I like the idea of that.”

mmmm too much nunvil hcs for the soul

Allura and Coran:

  • Nunvil is like a really light beer to Alteans so they have a naturally high tolerancy
  • Allura doesnt drink that mess so shes the designated Castle Driver
    • “ Coran, that junk is like rat poison even to Alteans i don’t believe this was a good idea”
  • Coran is the Altean equivalent to a vodka aunt, and he drinks nunvil like water and doesnt feel a thing
    • he gossips with aliens across the universe over a few bottles

Pidge:

  • The “sociable drunk”
    • shiro doesnt let her have any at first but she sneaks a drink while hes not looking
  • Forgets shes on an alien planet and talks to everybody
  • Swears like a sailor even more than usual and tells wild stories that have even the bravest aliens in the galaxy quaking in their boats
    • Pidge, to a group of sketchy alien pirates: so there i was, 3rd grade, dragging her by the pigtails around the playground! and the bitch still had the nerve to say smth so i socked her right in the mouth n pulled the rubber bands from her braces!! yea Susie didn mess with the Holts after that! The aliens, visibly terrified: *scoot away*
  • Shes also a dancing drunk but once she and Keith started jumping on tables and stools Shiro Shut it Down
  • Pidge, hopping on a stool: “ykno what fuck it hEY EVERYONE ANOTHER ROUND FOR THE WHOLE BAR ON THE PALADINS OF VOLTRON!!!!!!” Shiro, slamming a hand over her mouth: “nOPE no its not we’re not doing that”

Hunk:

  • The “emotional drunk”
  • Also known as the ‘relentless crier about eveything’
  • “Lance listen ur like my best friend in the whole world idk what id do without u ur a good man come over here, pidge, u too ykno ur so brave for cutting ur hair and sneaking into the garrison matts a lucky dude if i had a lil sister id wish she was half as amazing as u u guys r like the brother n sister i never had, u too keith and shiros like my chill uncle of smth n i love u all so much i jus”

Lance:

  • The “came out to have a good time and is bitter he can’t actually get drunk” drunk
  • Its not fair he offered they do this! he was honestly ready to go to a space bar and get space wasted but he still hates the taste of Nunvil and after 4 drinks he feels nothing like is the universe out to get him or what!!
  • Doesn’t flirt with any of the aliens that come on to him bc they’re drunk so he just politely declines all night but he takes pride in knowing he looks good under drunk goggles
  • After 6 rounds he gives up and settles on drinking something fruity from a thin glass and taking embarrassing pictures of Keith
    • Even if he can’t get drunk he can still have a good time

Keith:

  • First of all, he’s a huge light weight. Even more than Pidge n shes half his body mass jot that down
    • All it takes is like 2 rounds during a competition with Lance and hes Out
  • Somehow switches between the “goofy” drunk and the “always dtf (down to fight)” drunk in 4 seconds flats
    • Keith: Lance is really pretty…. Anyone: really? I don’t see it- Keith, holding a knife to their throat: what the fuck does that mean
  • Laughs at everything. A lot. No one has heard this much laughter come from Keith not even Shiro and hes known the kid for years
  • Thinks he can fight the sun and he will
    • All Shiro hears is “Hunk hold my cup” and hes up in 3 seconds to stop him
  • He somehow starts a fight over space cryptids with some alien and nope they have to leave their whole planet has declared war on them gdi keith

Shiro:

  • Is reluctant at first but eventually he’s tired of watching everyone so he takes one (1) drink
    • He regrets it to this day
  • The “venting” drunk
  • He goes off on vents about the Garrison for so long he doesnt even realize the alien he was talking to has already left
    • “I’m like an elephant, ok? if i walk into a room, its like, woah hes in there”

On the ride home, Allura is grumpy, Coran is unaffected,  Shiro is already developing the Worst Hangover in the Universe, Pidge is knocked out on the kitchen counter, Keith is passed out on Hunk’s chest while he snores like an animal and Lance is just now feeling tipsy.

Start Over.

(a quick story on what happened after Dark walked away from the mirror…)

“Damien! Damien, it’s time to come out now! This game isn’t going on anymore!”
The Colonel had been wandering aimlessly through the whole manor twice now, this time peeking underneath chairs and around doors. The excitement of this little game of hide and seek was still buzzing inside him, even after three hours, and he was looking forward to finding his friends, seeing their faces of mocked disappointment and then laughter. Just like their school days. He was starting to appreciate Mark’s little get together. Strange how quiet the house seemed now though. Oh so quiet. Except for a light ringing in his ears that seemed to follow him. “Come on! Where are you hiding?”
“I’m here, William.” said a familiar voice.
The Colonel spun around fast to the voice and saw Damien standing in the doorway, loosely holding his cane in his hand. A smile instantly rose under William’s moustache, but it faded slightly as he observed Damien more carefully. Something was off. He looked untidy, which was unnatural for Damien; his usual flatly press shirt was now unbuttoned and open at the collar, and his pristine white bowtie was missing. His hair was no longer slipped back but dangling loosely over the side of his face, nearly covering his eye. And… was that eyeliner? A bruised black eye? Either way it brought out that rather intimidating stare he was giving him.
William laughed and clapped his hands as he slowly approached him. “Damien! Very well done. You really got me! For a while there I actually thought you were dead!” As he got to Damien, he reached out and held his arm, just to confirm he was really there. “My goodness, you look awful! Did a dog attack you or something?”
Damien glanced down at William’s hand. He knew by the straining ligaments in the his hand and the sharp creases of his blazer sleeve between William’s fingers that it was a tight and desperate grip… but he couldn’t feel it. One side of his mind reasoned that, well, obviously we wouldn’t be able to feel anything, being a corpse now. The other side of his mind just wanted to cry. Damien rested his cold hand on William’s and sighed. “… I had a small accident, yes.” He told him, stiffly tilting his neck to one side for a second.
The Colonel chuckled, “Well, it doesn’t matter now. I found you!” Scanning Damien’s body, he saw the cane and was reminded. “-Oh, also, you left these behind.” He pulled out of his pockets Damien’s black Mayor badge and his white bowtie, and passed them to Damien. “Wouldn’t want to go back to the office without them, would ya?” he chuckled again, his voice breaking, almost making his laughing seem like sobbing. “Now, where is Celine?” He let go of his friend and began to wander out of the room again, stumbling over his feet like a toddler. “Celine! Darling, where are you hiding?”
As William turned a corner, Damien stepped out of the doorway ahead of him. For a moment, the Colonel wondered how he got there so quick. “Celine is gone, Colonel.” Damien assured him. This was a lie. She was, in some ways, standing right in front of him.
William frowned a little in confusion. “…Gone? She left already? I didn’t see her go.” There was pause for thought. Damien’s mind was racing. Tell him the truth. No, that will make him madder than he already is. But it’s cruel, he’s our friend. He still thinks I’m Damien, I think that’s enough to keep him satisfied for now. But what about me?
Just as Damien was about to answer, William started to laugh. “She probably ran away! Yes. Couldn’t stand the failure of me finding her. She was never that good at hide and seek, even when we were young. You remember, our old games of hide and seek?”
Damien nodded. His mind gave a sigh, one of relief, one of frustration.
“Ah. Good times.” The Colonel began to pass Damien until he was stopped by Damien’s cane. In the distance was the sound of approaching police sirens.
Damien looked at him sternly. “Listen, Colonel. We have to go now.”
“Why? Go where?”
“Away from this house.” He began to head to a nearby door. “The police will be coming soon.”
William followed him, still perplexed. “Why? What’s happened?”
“Mark is dead.”
William stopped instantly. Damien hung back and cautiously watched as fear casted over William’s face. He stuttered, “… But he isn’t. I… I didn’t kill him. It was a joke, right?”
“Yes, it was a joke.” Damien insisted as he returned to William’s side and hooked his arm through his. He tugged William with him as he strode towards the door and said, “More sinister than a joke. It was a set up. Mark was angry at you and Celine so he set you up so you would get arrested.”
Letting Damien pull him towards the door, William pressed, “But he’s not dead. They can’t arrest me, I didn’t kill him. I didn’t kill anyone.”
“Yes, you didn’t. But that doesn’t matter to the police. They don’t care if the suspect is the real criminal or falsely accused; they just want to capture a bad guy, put him away, and get a promotion for it.” They reached the door, where Damien swung the Colonel in front of him so he could look him in the eye and tell him firmly, “Never trust the police, Colonel. Never.”
William nodded lightly, a little scared at how cold his friend’s gaze has gotten. “…Ok, I won’t in future.”
“Come on, then.” Damien open the door and walked outside.
William paused as he remembered. “Wait… what about Bully? They’re still in there.”
“They don’t matter now.” Damien called back as he continued to walk away and up the path that lead up to the mountain side. “Nothing does.”
William spotted that Damien left his cane leaning against the wall next to the door. Why would he leave it? He picked it up and ran after Damien, just as the police sirens stopped and car doors started to open and close.

The police wouldn’t have been able to stop them if they had saw them. Within the blink of an eye, Damien and William would have jumped an extra mile ahead of where they would have previously been seen. But still the hike was slow for them. Damien’s mind rushed with regrets of picking a body with a broken leg as well as a broken neck. Best to just teleport to places in future.
Suddenly William jumped to his side and put the cane back in Damien’s hand. “You seem to be hobbling there, old boy. Use your cane, for goodness sakes. You need it now more than ever before!” William chuckled.
Damien didn’t smile. He let the cane fall from his fingers. “It’s not mine anymore.” He walked on.
William picked the cane back up and tried to catch up to him. “But you’re the Mayor. This is yours. It was given to you by-”
“Not anymore!” Damien yelled, staring at William with the look of a snarling wolf. On seeing William retreat with a startled gaze, Damien looked away and sighed, trying to calm down. Rolling his shoulders, he growled, “Mark is the Mayor now.”
“How? Why?”
“Because he got away and… is pretending to be me.” He took my body. He took my life with it, actually. He felt his fists clenching up and his shell cracking. “I bet it was him who called the police on you. They believe him now, not me…” He sighed and looked to the ground. “I can’t be Damien anymore.” He looked back at William, who was shuffling his way closer, still holding tight to the cane. “And you can’t be Colonel William Warford anymore.”
William blinked in shock. “What? Why?”
“Because the police are looking for a Colonel William Warford! They’re probably on a man hunt for you. You’ll have to change your name so they don’t find you.”
His face fell to a pout fit for a guilty puppy’s face. “But…. I like ‘William’.”
Damien sighed and thought for a second. Let him have it. His nickname, at least. “… Will… You can have Will.”
His smile miraculously grew back as he cheered, “Yay! Will Warford.”
“Wilford.”
“Huh?”
Something that hadn’t appeared on Damien’s face for a small while showed up; a smile. It didn’t seem to suit him anymore. But he still smiled, because Wilford was smiling right back at him. “Wilford sounds better don’t you think?”
Wilford beamed. “… Yes. It sounds cleaner, authoritarian, powerful.”
“Suits you more than William, if I might say.” Damien said and they continued their trek down the mountain. They were coming close to a town. They would stay there for a while, just until they had thought out how they would get their lives back.
“What about you?” Wilford asked just to break the silence. “What’s your name gonna be now?”
Damien shrugged, “I don’t know.” After a small pause he admitted, “I wish I was still Damien.” His hands were in his pockets for the majority of the journey, the left hand was busy running the black silk of the Mayor badge he once wore through his fingers, the right hand was gripping the bowtie. His skin seemed to turn grey as anger built up inside him. “I wish this never happened. I wish it never had to be this way. I wish I had power enough to turn back time and stop all this happening to us… Or at least, I wish I had the power to go back and kill Mark myself when I had the chance.”
“Wow!” Wilford yelled suddenly, breaking Damien’s concentrated rage. He giggled nervously and said, “You got a little dark there, all of a sudden. Are you alright, Damien?”
Damien stopped walking. … That would be ironic wouldn’t it. It rhymes with the back-stabbing son of a bitch’s name anyway. Wouldn’t it make our justice a little sweeter?
He looked up with his new abnormally creepy smile. “… Dark.”
“Huh?”
Dark looked back to Wilford and told him, “Call me Dark from now on. Dark and Wilford. A nice fresh start for all of us.” He swung his arm around Wilford’s shoulders and rested it there as they both walked together.
“Yeah. Dark and Wilford!… Wilford… War… Wilford War.” Wilford shook his head. “Doesn’t sound nice with just War on the end.”
“We’ll find something for you.” Dark assured.
Wilford looked around him, then at the cane he held. He gasped and held out the cane as he declared, “Wilford War-stick!”
Dark scowled at him. “…No.”
Wilford sighed disappointedly and looked around again. “Wilford War… branch!”
“No. That’s even worse.” Dark took his arm off Wilford’s shoulders and walked on ahead.
“Wilford Warburton?… War-butt-on! Haha!”
“Stop it.”

“Wilford Wardrobe!” Wilford announced, his voice muffled from the inside of the hotel cupboard.
Dark opened the cupboard door and scowled at Wilford who looked at him with an expression that was trying hard to contain a laugh. “It’s not funny anymore.” Dark groaned, hanging his blazer up on a wire hanger.
Wilford observed Dark’s sullen face and frowned. “You found it funny before? Even since we found each other after the chaos back at the manor, I haven’t heard you laugh, not even mockingly. It’s like you’ve suddenly changed, Damien.”
Dark’s lip twitched and he growled, “… I have changed. For a start, I’m not Damien anymore!!”
Wilford flinched. He had not seen Damien- sorry, Dark, in this way. It was usually him who would snap at Dark, and Dark would retreat or just give up having the argument with him. Now… Wilford felt scared to anger him. Not because he was scared of getting hurt. But because he was scared Dark was going to get sick of him and leave him.
Dark saw the fear in Wilford’s eyes through his rose-tinted glasses. That was uncalled for. Let him say it. He’s known ‘Damien’ for years, it’ll take a while to adjust. “… Sorry.” Dark mumbled. “I’m sorry Will. I… I don’t mean to hurt you.”
“It’s fine.” Wilford said as he began to climb out of the cupboard. “Mark has obviously made you angry. He’s made me a little peeved too. Trying to play dead on me so that blasted bastard detective would put me away. Ha!” He walked into the bathroom and continued calling to Dark, “To be honest, the detective is the only person I wish this whole ‘playing dead’ thing wasn’t a joke! Haha!”
Dark didn’t answer. Both sides of him saddened.
“I think I should change my appearance.” Wilford abruptly called out from the bathroom.
Dark blinked. “Sorry?”
Wilford took off his glasses and looked into the mirror. He brushed his moustache with the tips of his fingers. “Well, if I change my name, I should change how I look too! Like you did! You’ve changed from Damien to Dark, and also changed from a well-suited Mayor to a bummed-out businessman! Haha!”
“…Yes.” Dark said. He had moved to the waste bin and turned out his pockets. He took out his bowtie and stared at it. He wondered… He walked to the bathroom. “Here.” he said, placing his bowtie on the side of the sink. “I don’t need this anymore.”
Wilford stared at the bowtie for a while. He smiled. It reminded him of Damien. He held it up to his collar. Nice, but it need to be a bit more colourful. The sound of wood snapping came from the other room and Wilford peeked out to see Dark had snapped his cane in half. He put the broken pieces in the waste bin along with the Mayor badge. Wilford huffed and laughed, “You really are taking this disguise thing seriously!”

Wilford had been gone for a while; he said he had an idea and needed to go to the launderette. Dark sat in the room alone. Well, as alone as a body with two souls could be. There was a deep conversation going on inside his mind.
He’s not going to continue acting like ‘Mayor Damien’. Yeah, he’s got a new identity he can use, so he’s probably going to find another life to live. He could be anywhere. Not so, there’s still a chance we can find him. He’s in your body anyway, I’m sure you’d be able to sense him whenever he’s near. …Maybe. It’s still going to be difficult, like finding a needle in a hay stack. But remember, this is a very shiny needle. If he’s still as pompous and arrogant, and still pursuing show business, he’ll be shouting where he is to the sky and back. …Possibly. You need to be more positive about this. …How can I be positive while a head-up-his-own-ass fucker is walking around in my body while we’re both stuck in this broken, numb carcass and have to be tied to the trigger-happy madman our friend has become?! Damien! … I’m sorry, Celine. It’s just… it’s not fair. Hey, think about the soul this body belongs to, trapped in that horrible mansion. Do you think they’re having a fairer time than us? …No. I can’t believe you made me do that, to throw them out, our friend that you helped get a job, the friend that trusted us. If you’re so mad about it, then why did you come along for this ride?
“Ha ha ha HA!” The door to the room was kicked open. Wilford tip-toed into the room holding his coat over his body to hide from Dark like a curtain.
“What did you do?”
Wilford dropped the coat and stood tall with his arms out wide. “Ta-da!” He didn’t look much different; only four things had changed. One, he wasn’t wearing his glasses, two, his suspender had faded from red to pink, and three, on his collar of his mustard shirt he wore a bowtie as equally pink as the suspenders. But the fourth change really caught Dark’s eye. His once thick brown moustache was now trimmed to a curly perfection and coloured a beautiful rosy pink. With a proud smile and a flourishing bow, he announced, “Ladies and gentlemen, Wilford Warfstache!”
As soon as the coat dropped Dark had been staring at Wilford with wide eyes and mouth agape. Wilford held his pose waiting for a response eagerly; he spent a good few hours trying to wash out his suspenders with his new bowtie, while also trying to find the right Kool Aid drink-mix power that would give a similar rosy shade to his moustache. After a moment of utter silence, Dark smiled a genuine smile and said, “… It’s incredible!”
Wilford released himself from his pose and picked up his coat to hang it up. “Do you think the pink will stand out a bit too much?”
Dark nodded, “Absolutely. It’s pompous and wild and unorthodox. Suits you down to the ground.”
Wilford smiled at Dark as he headed into the bathroom. “Thank you!” He went to mirror to admire his handy work, never losing his wide and childish smile. He sighed, “Goodness, if only Celine was here to see this. What will she think?”
“… She’d be proud of you, Will.”
Wilford peeked around the door to Dark, who was walking over to him. “You think so?”
Dark was still smiling, but there was something in his expression. Uncertainty? Or was it pride? Either way he looked at Wilford in the same way a parent looks at their child accomplishing their dreams. “I know so.” Dark answered.
For some reason that sentence hit him hard in the chest. Almost as if Celine was right in front of him, which made him feel ecstatic. He walked up to Dark and surprised him with a tight hug. “Thanks, Dark.” Dark patted his back carefully, he didn’t want his shell to shatter just yet. Wilford finally pulled away from Dark and made his way to his room for bed; it had been a heavy past few days, but he didn’t really mind. All his friends were alive, Dark was going to stick with him for a while, and he got to express himself, finally, after so many years of intense mental and physical battles.
Damien? Yeah? Moments like that are why I came along for the ride.

Letter - Mother Mother/victuuri for the ficlet prompt!!

i like this song omg! so cute 💖 have something related to the colours soulmate au that @witchfell and i came up with a while back!

Dear Soulmate,

My name is Viktor Nikiforov, and I am six years old. Your colours are blue in my head. I wonder if you are a baby. My teacher Miss Irina hepled me with my spelling. I wish you were older so we can play together. Do you like ice skating? I like ice skating. We can ice skate together when you get older!

Love,
Viktor (age 6, Russia)

Dear Soulmate,

I wonder what colour I am in your head. You are such a beautiful blue in mine, pulsing gently with all of your emotions. We have to meet in order to start hearing each other’s thoughts, so I can’t wait for us to meet so that we can talk secretly through our thoughts too. There’s so many things I’d like to tell you that I can’t tell my parents or Yakov. I would tell my dog, but he can’t talk back like you could. I bet you would like my dog. He is a puppy named Makkachin. I got him for my ninth birthday after I won a skating competition! It wasn’t much, just a regional competition. I want to be good enough for Nationals soon, though!

Love,
Viktor (age 9, Russia)

Dear Soulmate,

Are you skating, too? I can feel you flying in my head somehow. Maybe you are doing something else, but it’s the same feeling I get out on the ice, so I hope it’s because you’re learning how to skate. I was getting a bit scared to have a soulmate who didn’t skate, or who hated skating. I mean, I would still love you even if you hated everything about the ice, but it’s a lot easier this way! I’m preparing for the Junior Grand Prix now. I wanna win gold in the Junior Grand Prix and then move up to Seniors next year and eventually become the world’s best skater. It would be amazing if we could skate on the same ice together, so I hope you work hard at it, too!

I know in my previous letters I don’t talk about much else. But then again I guess there isn’t that much in my life besides skating and my dog Makkachin. My family is nice I guess but my parents are never home, so I spend all the time at the rink with Yakov anyway. My rinkmates are friendly but I can tell they think I’m weird because I’m so focused on becoming the best figure skater. I wish I had you to talk to. You never respond to these, but then I don’t expect you to.

I wonder where you are, my soulmate, and what you do, and what your family’s like, and if you like dogs. I want to know everything about you. All of your likes and dislikes, all of your hopes and fears. I guess we’re supposed to love each other already, but I don’t know if you will. I’m kinda weird. But maybe you’re a little weird, too. I’d like that, if we were a little weird together.

I tend to ramble these days, so I think I’ll shut up now.

Love,
Viktor (age 12, Russia)

P.S. My coach and my ballet teacher are soulmates too. And they’re married. I wouldn’t expect you to want to marry me, though! But it’s a thought!

P.P.S. Please say you like dogs!

Unforgettable birthday

Word count: 2.021

Requested: Yes

Warnings: Shouting and tears

“Two days. In two days, everything must be perfect and I still don’t know what to do”, you sighed to yourself and snuck further into your blanket, which was hanging loosely around your shivering body. Winter was at its finest this time of the year and your house, being quite a big one, was partly cold, even though the heater was on. The end of January was coming, which meant cold, snow and of course warm clothes.

But above all that, the end of January meant the beginning of February. And the beginning of February signaled Harry’s birthday. You always wanted to make his birthday a memorable day but you always ended up organizing something common and just too plain for your liking. Harry never minded that your ideas were simple; he just loved the fact that you devoted some of your time to think of him and show him you cared.

You , on the other hand, felt not so good about it. You would always beat yourself up about it and be irritated that you couldn’t give to him what he really deserved. Harry had made fun of you the first time you were all pouty and grumpy over such a small thing but he just couldn’t understand. He had managed to make your own birthday a day you would like to live again and again, every single year that day came around. So, why couldn’t you do the same for him?

That was the only thing you wanted to do. To make his day be the reason he would like to press a repeat button and start it all over. Having this in mind, this year, you had set a goal to create the best memories possible. First, you had tried to decorate the roof of your apartment and have some of your closest people come by, but the roof had been reconstructed lately and instantly, this option was out of the picture. Next, you had tried to organize an excursion to a beautiful place, just the two of you for a couple of days, but your empty wallet said otherwise.

All these difficulties were keeping you back from doing what you had envisioned to do and it was driving you mad. Under no circumstances would you sit for a plain dinner night with some lit candles again. You wanted and had to keep your eyes open for new ideas. Even your parents had tried to help and lend you some money to make that excursion a reality, but your pride stopped you and even though you were dying to take the money, they had already done enough.

“Why can’t I think of something spectacular for once?”, you cried over the phone to your friend, who obviously, had nothing better to do than listen to your complaints and whining.

“Maybe you are over-thinking this whole thing. Just let it flow and see where it takes you”, your friend said and you got up. She was right. You were trying too hard to make an idea pop into into your head that all of your energy had vanished.

“I hope sleeping will help”, you said hanging up and going to bed. After a lot of tossing and turning, you decided to call Harry. He was in his own apartment, probably sleeping, but you needed to hear his voice. You weren’t living under the same roof yet but it was in your future plans for sure.

“Love, are yeh okay? Why are yeh callin’ meh this late?”, Harry’s groggy voce said and you felt a tad bad for waking him up.

“I am alright but I missed you and I decided to call you. I won’t keep you up for long I promise”, you defended and you heard his chuckle.

“I have no problem baby but yeh had meh worried there”, he giggled and you smiled yourself.

“Sorry about that. How was your day today?”, you said and you both ended up talking through the phone for the whole night. It was completely natural for you. Talking with Harry was something else. You never got bored and he never got tired of hearing your voice.

The next morning though was indeed boring because it found you on your laptop, trying to contact your boss to inform him that you couldn’t turn up to work tomorrow. He tried to make it clear that he needed you in your post but he eventually gave in and gave you your day-off. Jumping from your chair, you looked yourself in the mirror.

“Tomorrow’s the day and you got nothing. Think!”, you shouted to your reflection like it would be scared and it would hand you the perfect plan in a heartbeat. Of course, this didn’t happen and you got more frustrated. Harry had suggested the night before, you go to his house and stay there for tomorrow and the weekend so you thought this was a great opportunity to walk a bit and let the cool wind clear your head.

Arriving to his house, you entered with your spare key and called his name but no response was given. Going up to his your bedroom, you placed your duffel bag in the closet and your gaze was stuck somewhere out of the window. You didn’t want to surrender and face the bitter truth that Harry’s day would once again be dull. He never told you that, but you knew it; it was boring experiencing the same things over and over again.

You had already bought his present and everything but this was not enough. Not in the slightest bit. Having nothing more to do you cooked a meal for when Harry would come back and you turned on the TV. And just then, he appeared in front of you in all his glory answering questions and sharing his contagious smile which had many girls going crazy. This time though, you didn’t feel like smiling. You felt like crying. Just like that, you turned off the TV and headed upstairs to relax.

You read your favourite book, listened to some music and even placed your clothes on the hangers but Harry was still nowhere to be found. He should be home by now and you knew nothing about a meeting or so. You picked up your phone and you were ready to dial his number when a notification from Twitter flashed through your screen. Anne had twitted something. Opening the application, you felt like fainting. She was wishing Harry Happy Birthday today.

“No no no no this is a joke. Tell me this is a joke”, you said while checking the calendar on your phone. Your eyes bulged out of their sockets when you saw the date. 1st of February. How was this possible? It was still the 31 of January. It had to be. You couldn’t be that mistaken. But then again your calendar couldn’t be wrong. You pressed your phone against your ear waiting to hear Harry’s voice but that irritating sound had taken Harry’s voice’s place telling you were on voicemail.

You tried to calm down while your mouth was still hanging open. The only thing you wanted was to surprise Harry this year and make him feel appreciated the way he deserves but instead you lost the track of days and forgot his birthday! How ironic! After trying to get in touch with him for the fifteenth time that night, you had to charge your phone so you plugged it and waited. It was 1:45 and you were wide awake. You didn’t know what you would tell Harry for this terrible mistake of yours but you needed to see him.

After two more agonizing hours, you heard the front door open and close and all the air was knocked out of your system. All this time you had persuaded yourself that you would face him but now that the time came all you wanted to do was open a hole on the ground and hide in there forever. His footsteps were heard outside of the room and when he pushed the door open you knew you were unjustifiable. He was looking anywhere but you and his face were radiating sadness and disappointment.

When the first word came out of your mouth, he took a sharp breath and turned to look at you making you close your mouth again. It was hard for you to explain yourself but you had to. You owed him that.

“Harry I- I don’t know how it happened I swear. You know I would never do that to you”, you started but he just shook his head.

“I hope your reason is good enough”, was the only thing that was aimed at you and you were ready to break down.

“All these days, I wanted to come up with something extraordinary for your birthday. I didn’t want it to be like all the previous years. But I lost track of time and the day came and I don’t know. I was so caught up trying to please you that I did the exact opposite. I am so sorry Harry, I really am”, you started to walk towards him but you stopped when he made a step back.

“Is that so? I hope this is the reason yeh were so distant all these days and not somethin’ else. Or better yet, someone else”, Harry said venomously and it was your turn to take a step back. Was Harry really hinting that you were seeing someone else behind his back? This had your blood boiling in a matter of seconds.

“Excuse you? I know I messed up and forgot about your birthday but this gives you no right to accuse me of something so wrong! You know me! I would never do such a thing to you! Are you kidding me?”, you said clearly offended throwing your hands in the air.

“I don’t know Y/N! First, yeh are all closed up and yeh only call meh one time in the day when yeh used to call meh at least three! Next thin’ I know, I get no wishes from meh girlfriend! And I had to lie to everyone that yeh couldn’t make it tonight!”, Harry screamed at you.

“This is what it’s all about, isn’t it? All you think of is what other people will say and how you will be able to make up a story of why I am missing! I never asked you to do it Harry! And I already apologized for forgetting your birthday!”, you said and turned around not wanting Harry to see your tears.

“Your tears aren’t goin’ to save yeh this time Y/N!”, Harry said and you had enough.

“You know what? I still don’t understand why you are so worked up. I thought I showed you my real self but I guess I was wrong. You got it all wrong Harry”, you said, looking disappointedly at him.

“So now this is meh fault? I really didn’t see that comin’”, Harry said sarcastically laughing to himself while you were standing there looking at him in disbelief. He was exaggerating and you had no clue why. Yes, forgetting about his birthday was something serious but was it serious enough for such an outrage?

“I want you to calm down Harry. I don’t know where this is all coming from but let me tell you it is nonsense”, you tried to reach out for him but decided against it and stayed put.

“You slippin’ through meh fingers is nonsense to you? Glad to know Y/N!”, Harry shouted and you covered your ears. That was it. He needed to calm down right now.

“No one is slipping through your fingers Harry! And if you don’t want it to happen anytime soon, you have to calm down so once you do, call me so we can discuss about it like the adults we are!”, you said furiously and got out of the room, put your shoes on and slammed the door shut, leaving a determined Harry behind, ready to walk out the house and come find you.

QUICK AND DIRTY BREAKDOWN OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES:

This post is multifunctional: in fanfic with college aged characters, many of y’all are in highschool and have never been drunk, so you inadvertently make some choices that make anyone who has ever been drunk laugh.

BUT ALSO: i had never been drunk until summer after senior year. I didn’t know what to expect, but I got to test my limits around people I trusted, and that’s not always the case. It’s a new school year, and I don’t want you freshies accidentally drinking way more than you should and getting in trouble, getting alcohol poisoning, or even just puking on your dorm floor, because that shit is nasty. SO STAY SAFE AND RESPONSIBLE, BUT USE THIS INFO TO HELP.

(disclaimer: i am a 5′5 under 150lbs 19 year old girl with low to med alcohol tolerance. If you/your character is, say, a 6′2, male 200lb frat guy who drinks vodka like water, scale up accordingly)

this got long so it’s under the cut:

SHOTS:

1-2 shots: feeling nothing

3 shots: maybe feeling something? maybe just a placebo

4 shots: I’m fi–oh wait, i just stood and the ground moved. ok, maybe i’m almost tipsy. Starting to feel loose.

5 shots: definitely in the tipsy zone. feeling good. stumbling but not falling. whatever Kind of Drunk you are, here is when it starts to appear

6+ shots: I have not definitively documented these, because I am good at knowing my limits. Some people are not. Basically just looser and looser, easier to laugh, more outgoing, etc. But from what I hear, tipsy is the feel-good zone, and then you want to feel even more good so you drink more and then you hit Too Drunk and it’s a downhill slide into FeelingLikeShitville

SHOT BREAKDOWN IN OTHER DRINKS:

jungle juice/tub juice: this varies based on recipe, but i would say it is USUALLY one shot per drink. Sometimes they amp it up to two, but guys. Alcohol tastes like shit. If you want it to taste okay, you’ll need way more parts kool-aid/hawaiian punch/orange juice than alcohol. So please, for the love of god, do not have your adult male college student take one sip of a “mysterious concoction” and start making poor choices immediately. He’ll need, like, 3 cups min before the bad choices start rolling in.

wine/beer: what you see as the usual serving size is typically equivalent to one shot, but it’s more liquid, so takes longer to drink and therefore longer to get drunk.

OTHER:

CHASERS: when you’re taking a shot of vodka, tequila, fireball, whatever, it can be hard going down. So you’ll have people using “chasers” like lemonade, sweet tea, sprite, etc. You’ll either drink it right after the shot or right before and then after the shot.

DIFF ALCOHOL TYPES: different types of alc affect you differently. For example, tequila and beer make me nauseous, so I avoid those. My friend says when she’s “wine drunk” it’s different from being regular drunk. Mixing alcohol types as well (like beer and liquor, etc) can make some people sick. Quick list of some types/brands of alc: tequila*, vodka*, wine*, beer*, champagne, cocktails(margharitas, mimosas, etc), whiskey* (usually, especially for college students, this means fireball, which tastes like those shitty cinnamon candies your grandma always had out and feels like an actual warmth in your chest). There are more but I’m a gross college student and * are most common for me

HANGOVERS: i have never had a hangover bc even while drunk im an overthinker, and after every drink i have a drink of water, and this has staved off every hangover. Also, it makes you pee a lot, and peeing at a house party is An Experience

EFFECT OF ALCOHOL:

there are “types” of drunk, and they often mix together including but not limited to: Chatty Drunk, (me. i cant shut the fuck up. every thought i have exits my mouth. this is less embarrassing and more tedious, since most of my thoughts are inane and boring) Sleepy Drunk (my best friend. It is important to know if your friend is sleeping or passed out: one is an effect of alcohol, one means they are literally dying and should be taken to a hospital) Annoying/Loud Drunk (this is obvious) and Horny Drunk (my other friend is notorious for pointing to a guy and being like “I am going to fuck him” and then I have to physically drag her away and call an uber, despite also being drunk)

Another friend will, without fail, Every Single Time put on “Break Your Heart” by Taio Cruz, and proceed to play her 2010 playlist. Drunk people have reliable quirks and do weird shit. idk man, but usually people will know exactly what kind of drunk their friends are, and prepare.

I’m sure I’m missing stuff and I don’t actually drink a whole lot so if anyone has anything to add, PLEASE DO. Also, if y’all want a part two I can talk about house parties or other college shit

if you’ve been bothered by this kind of stuff or made these mistakes in fic or if you just wish you’d had this knowledge PLEASE REBLOG: i never really saw accessible info like this because the only info about alc i ever saw was like “ONLY EVER DRINK TEENY SIPS ONCE YOU ARE 21 BC ALCOHOL IS BAD” and that’s just not helpful

i. I used to hate you. I used to think it was your fault she ran away from me, but I guess I can never blame the sky if she didn’t want to be with the summer girl anymore and fell in love with rain instead. Maybe summer was too hot we scorched into ashes, and you were rain who cooled her down and made the ashes grow flowers again.
ii. She told me once that she liked me the first time we met. I wonder, was it the same for you? Did your eyes captivate her the first time she looked at you? Or was it only after she left me? I keep on thinking it happened somewhere in between, like the unexpected drizzle in May, but it doesn’t matter anymore for now her skies are clear and your eyes are the only stars she can see. On some days I imagine us as identical stars and that it is the reason she fell for you fast, that your eyes show my reflection and it is still I she sees in you. Does she tell stories about me? Do you hear me when she says the words she learned from me? On most days, though, I know the truth–I’m only rock that briefly passed through her sky and she had mistaken me for a wishing star. But a rock cannot grant her wishes.
iii. You are able to love her in many ways I will never be able to, and for that I envy you. I want to tell you how to love her, where she likes to be kissed or what spot in her back makes her weak, what gifts make her smile or what words would make her cry like a preschool girl–just like how many letters have been written by ex-lovers to the new ones instructing them how to love their lovers. I cannot do that, though. I wasn’t even able to love her properly when I had my chance, so who am I to tell you? Just keep on loving her the way you know how and most importantly, the way she deserves to be.
iv. When I first heard the gossip about you, somehow I already knew. I had practiced my response and rehearsed my lines for the confirmation of the news, but when I saw you together for the first time I forgot everything I prepared for. I wasn’t ready to see how she looked at you–the same look she used to give me–and I knew, at that moment, she was already in love with you and there is nothing else that could stop her. I can still picture that moment until now.
v. Please be “the one” for her. She used to tell her friends I was “the one” but it turned out I wasn’t. Please do not hurt her the way I did because if you do, I might never be able to forgive you just as I have never forgiven myself. I hope her skies never be heavy again.
—  kabalintunaan // a letter for her lover, the rain
pink

“Teddy?”

“Yes, nana,” replied Teddy sleepily as he yawned. It was a warm summer morning and he wasn’t used to waking up this early during summer.

“You’ve got mail,” said Andromeda with a grin on her face. “Want to open it?”

“Is it–”

“I don’t know,” she said with her eyebrow raised. “You are eleven after all.”

Teddy jumped from his bed and ran to where Andy was standing with a letter in her hand, no sign of his exhaustion from mere minutes ago. He didn’t wait for her to stretch out the letter, he snatched from her, his eyes filled with wonder.

He turned the letter around and saw the crimson wax seal stamp with the Hogwarts emblem on it. He tore it carefully, afraid of hurting whatever was inside. He pulled out the letter and dropped the envelope on the floor.

Dear Mr. Lupin,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.Term begins on 1 September. We await your owl by no later than 31 July.

Teddy’s eyes grew twice the size and he looked up at his grandmother with such glee that Andromeda couldn’t help but get tears in her eyes.

“I wonder which house I’m going to be in,” he said as he read the letter once more. “I hope I’m in Gryffindor like my dad.”

“Well,” laughed Andy. “Your mum was a Hufflepuff and there’s nothing wrong with other houses, you know.”

“You were a Slytherin, right?”

“I sure was.”

“And Grandpa?”

“He was a Hufflepuff, too,” she replied as her eyes drifted off remembering the first time she saw Ted Tonks in 4th year with his yellow and purple scarf around his neck laughing at a joke one of his friends had told. “And you know Aunt Luna is a Ravenclaw.”

“I know but I’d rather be in Gryffindor or Hufflepuff,” he said with a sad face. “You know, like my parents.”

“The Sorting Hat is an incredible object dear,” said Andy with a soft smile. “I’m sure it will put you in the best house for you. So… pancakes for breakfast?”

“Yes!” exclaimed Teddy and he went back in his room to put his letter on his desk as his grandmother left for the kitchen. He then ran down the stairs to the kitchen hoping she was making the pancakes with magic. He wasn’t disappointed to find plates and eggs flying around the kitchen once he entered.

They spent their breakfast talking about Hogwarts and the houses. Andy explained how the school wasn’t the way it used to be anymore. How Slytherin was such a mess when she went to school but slowly got their reputation back. Teddy had always been interested in the Wizarding World but recently his curiosity over Hogwarts had been overwhelming which required Andy to tell the same stories over and over again but she wasn’t complaining. The way Teddy’s eyes shined with happiness was worth it.

“Nana,” began Teddy excitedly. “We should let Harry know that I got the letter!”

“Ah, you’re right.”

With that Andy summoned some parchment and a quill and wrote to Harry about Teddy’s letter. In five minutes, their owl had left the house to go to Godric’s Hollow.

“Now, I have something to show you,” said Andy as she sat down on their sofa in the living room and Teddy climbed next to her as he looked up at her expectedly. She was holding a very thick photo album in her hand. “Your grandpa liked taking pictures the muggle way.”

Teddy smiled and got comfortable next to his nana, he knew this was going to take some time but it was his favourite thing to do with Andy, looking at the old pictures of his mother.

“This album is from the day she got her letter and onwards,” she explained as she slid her fingers softly over the picture of her daughter. “Back when she still used black hair.”

“She looks like you when she has black hair,” pointed out Teddy looking longingly at her mother at the age of eleven. She was smiling at the letter she was holding in her hand. Teddy had seen many pictures of his mum with different hair colours but never with black.

“I always thought she looked more like Ted,” she said smiling at the memory of her daughter and husband. “You look like them a lot as well.”

“You think so?”

“I know so,” she answered as she tapped on Teddy’s nose softly making the little boy giggle. “You are more like her than you can imagine and I’m not even talking about the metamorphmagus abilities you have.”

“This is from before we went to the King’s Cross to send her off,” sighed Andy. “We tried talking her out of it but she wasn’t having it. So she went to school with half purple and half yellow hair.”

Teddy was laughing at the picture and thinking about doing the same thing in his second year, it didn’t matter which house he was in.

“I’m going to do it, too,” he said finally after he stopped laughing and Andy rolled her eyes.

“Of course you are,” she teased. “Like mother like son, right?”

They didn’t talk for a while after that and kept looking at the pictures. They weren’t moving like regular pictures did but Teddy appreciated them still. Andy explained when the pictures were from every now and then but other than that both of them were lost in their thoughts. It was such a heavy burden for a eleven year old Andy thought but she showed the pictures she had. She thought Teddy deserved to know who his parents were and Andy was one of the few people who can show him. She wasn’t going to deny him that.

“Her face stays the same all the time though,” said Teddy.

“I loved her for that,” replied Andy with a small laugh. “Her eyes and her hair changed all the time. She did it unintentionally when she was a baby so even I don’t know what colour her eyes are but she never changed the way she looked permanently even though she could.”

“I would never do that either,” said Teddy proudly. “Do you know what colour my eyes were?”

“No dear,” admitted Andy. “The moment you looked into your dad’s eyes, they turned amber and changed every time someone you liked held you.”

“Oh,” mumbled Teddy. “I like amber though.”

“I like amber, too,” she agreed smiling warmly at Teddy. “When you have my pale grey eyes you look so much like your Uncle Sirius, like you do right now.”

Andromeda got lost in the memory of his cousin and how much he would have loved Teddy. Teddy looked like Sirius but was more like Regulus on the inside and the memory of the younger Black boy turned Andy’s stomach upside down. Even since she found out what he did, she couldn’t stop thinking about how she didn’t do enough to save him or how Sirius died not knowing what his little brother did. Andy shook his head in an attempt to get rid of these thoughts in her head.

They were slowly coming to the end of the album. As she was looking at all the pictures of her daughter with her friends and family, she saw a drop of water fall down on the album. She lifted her head up to Teddy and gasped unwillingly as her eyes filled up with tears.

“Teddy,” she whispered softly. “You don’t have to try to hold it in when you are with me, you don’t ever have to do that.”

“I just–”

“I know dear,” she confessed. “I know photographs aren’t enough. I know it will never be enough and I’m sorry.”

“I just wish I could show them my letter,” said Teddy. “I wish she could share my excitement with me and tell me I will be a Hufflepuff no matter what Dad says.”

Teddy looked guilty for some reason but Andy thought she would let him do the talking, she never tried to make him feel better when he was crying because she never knew what to say.

“I love you, nana,” he continued through his hiccups. “I love you so much but I miss them, too.”

“Never think I will replace them Teddy, not Harry not me. We will never try to.”

“I’m so lucky to have you but I just wish I had them as well,” sobbed Teddy, his head on his grandmother’s chest as she stroked his pick hair softly.

“Me, too, Teddy,” sighed Andromeda. “All of us do.”

Crack.

“I came as soon as I saw the–” began Harry but stopped cold in his tracks. “Teddy your hair…”

“What?” said Teddy before he ran to the mirror. He had bubblegum pink hair that looked fluorescent with his pale skin. “I didn’t– I didn’t do it on purpose.”

“You look so much like her,” babbled Harry as he looked at his godson with so much wonder in his eyes. “It suits you Teddy.”

“I-I can’t look in the mirror like this everyday,” he said as he pressed his palms on his eyes. “I need to change it, it’s like seeing her. I can’t do that.”

He closed his eyes and focused on changing his hair to whatever colour, he didn’t care he just wanted it to change. When he opened his eyes he had bright blue hair and he thought it was a good tribute to his mother without giving him so much pain.

“I think this is better,” he smiled a little after he saw the concern in his godfather and nana’s eyes.

“Yes it is,” replied Andy as he hugged him tightly. “You are such a strong boy Teddy, I don’t know where the Sorting Hat will place but I feel like he’s going to have a hard time.”

“I think purple would look amazing on you,” grinned Harry before he kneeled down to give Teddy a hug. “However, any house would be lucky to have you.”

“Thanks Harry,” he mumbled.

“Now, I want to see your letter, can you go and get it for me?” he asked and Teddy’s eyes lit up instantly.

“Of course,” he replied before running off to his room.

Harry took the time to bring some water for Andromeda and sit down on the couch with her.

“Are you okay, Andy?”

“It hurts me to see how much pain he goes through every time we do something like this,” she explained. “But he wants to do it, I don’t know what to do. Maybe I shouldn’t do this for a while.”

“No Andy,” objected Harry softly. “I think it’s a part of the healing process. I would have given anything to know more about my parents even if it gave me pain.”

“You’re right,” said Andy wiping away the tears from her eyes just as Teddy ran into the room and jumped on Harry’s lap with the letter. Harry read the letter intently and gave it back to Teddy.

“So I was wondering if I could come to the Diagon Alley with you guys when you go. We can visit Uncle George and eat ice cream,” offered Harry to a grinning Teddy. Teddy lifted his eyes up to his grandmother to ask for approval.

“Well of course you could Harry,” said Andy before smiling warmly at the both of them.

“We can even look at brooms,” Harry whispered to Teddy and he giggled in response.

“No,” came the voice of Andy from the kitchen and Harry winked at Teddy making him go into a giggling fit and the sound of it made Andy feel better in a matter of seconds.
