Webbys

We have big news.

And that news has us all

Because according to the Webby Awards website

we’re nominated for Best Humor Website

As in, the best humor website on the entire Internet.

We re-read that page and we were like

We took a second to celebrate ourselves like

We briefly wondered if we could exploit this honor to make

But mostly we were like

Then we saw it’s a vote-based award and if you take like two seconds to sign up you can do us a solid and help us win something. Because while awards mean nothing to us and your Internet happiness means everything to us, we’d still like to show a statue to our parents and make them feel like they raised us right. Everybody seeks validation in this life, ya know? And your vote on this webpage can make that happen. Voting ends April 23rd and it’s easy to do.

Also obviously that was a MASSIVE block of text to make your eyeballs process in this buzz-Internet-no-words age, we’re very sorry, thank you for reading and here’s a fun sign-off gif from us:

At the webbys I gave the biggest speech of my life to thousands of people. Obviously I let my 4yo write it.

ed: EVERYONE! Did you know, this blog was nominated for a WEBBY?!!

It’s true, and I made this photograph with the talented Brooke Shanesy to promote & share my excitement. I call it Springs Organized Neatly.

PLEASE, if you haven’t, go sign up and vote for this blog (it will take less than 30 seconds), and I will be eternally grateful.

This past year marked the 25th Anniversary of the Graphics Interchange Format. From its humble beginnings at Netscape, to its current prominence in today’s Tumblr-driven culture, the GIF has come a long way, bb.

All this week, in honor of the Lifetime Achievement Award GIF inventor Steve Wilhite is receiving at this year’s Webbys, we will be celebrating GIF WEEK. It’s like shark week but way, way better.

And FYI, it’s pronounced “jiff.” And that’s according to the guy who invented it. If you have any problems with that, take it up with this guy
