Virtual Console

Daaaamn. Club Nintendo may be shutting down, but it’s going out with a bang. 117 games are being offered up for you to spend your remaining coins on (along with a few physical rewards as well). I’m grabbing F-Zero X, Super PunchOut!!! and Fluidity since I don’t have those already. And Sparkle Snapshot 3D of course. What are you guys grabbing?

Was there a Zelda holiday I missed today? ⊟

Because Nintendo of America just unceremoniously dumped A Link to the Past onto the Wii U eShop ($7.99), and Four Swords Anniversary Edition onto the 3DS eShop. The latter is available to download for free until February 2.

Thanks to everyone who sent us this tip, and to Go Get Good for the GIF.

Three Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games on Wii U Virtual Console this week ⊟

That’s a lot of Mystery Dungeoning! This Thursday in North America, you’ll be able to get Red Rescue Team (GBA), Blue Rescue Team (DS), and/or Explorers of Sky (DS) all on Wii U. I’m trying to imagine the free time vortex that would result in someone buying all three at once, but more likely someone will want to buy them sequentially.

I am 100% in favor of shotgun Virtual Console releases. It beats “up to one a week.”

PREORDER Pokémon Sun and Moon, BUY Pokémon New 3DS

Fire Emblem 7 (The first Fire Emblem ever to be released overseas) has been made available for download in the U.S. for a mere 8 dollars on Virtual Console!  This game is considered a classic, and to some people its even thought of as being the best in the series.  If you’re a fan of RPGs, you should definitely treat yourself to this phenomenal game.

DS Virtual Console coming to Wii U ⊟

Coming out of tonight’s investor meeting (it was strange – like, Iwatacare strange – here’s a summary), Nintendo president Satoru Iwata revealed that the company has overcome whatever “technical hurdles” was preventing a DS Virtual Console on Wii U… and it will launch just such a service. The Wii U will literally become a giant DS.

No date for this yet, but whaaaaaaat.

Also, um, maybe this would be good for 3DS too?

Can you believe it!? The critically acclaimed, fan favorite, certified stinky Super NES classic EarthBound is ON SALE in the North American Wii U eShop! This is a limited time deal, and a once in a lifetime chance to add this gem to your digital entertainment collection.

Rabid fans have been known to spend hundreds of dollars for the pleasure of owning their very own copy. Why part with so much of your hard-earned dough when you can have the same experience for a mere fraction of the cost!

Would you pay $800 for this game? How about $600? $400 smack-a-roos? Does $200 sound like a real bargain. Well sit back, because I’m about to blow your socks off!

This smokin’ hot deal is part of the third week of @nintendo’s Winter Warm-Up Sale in the Wii U eShop. The game normally sells for $9.99 (because it’s just that good), but you can get it for this bargain price until February 4th. Tell your neighbors. Tell your mailman. Write your pen pal!

BUT WAIT! There’s more. This digital copy of EarthBound comes with a 100% free, no strings attached, copy of the original Player’s Guide straight from the Pros at Nintendo Power! WHOA!! You can take a peek right here, on this handy website Nintendo made for the Wii U Virtual Console release of the game. (Even if you don’t buy the game, you can still look at the digital guide to your heart’s content. Maybe it’ll even give that extra nudge you need to get this great game. Did I mention it’s a great game!!)

Earthbound is on Wii U’s Virtual Console, guys

It’s $9.99, a couple bucks more expensive than the typical SNES download, but Earthbound will be on the Wii U Virtual Console today for the U.S. (releases around noon) and Europe. Nintendo is also making the game’s original Player’s Guide available online, and has optimized it for viewing on the Wii U GamePad. Let’s all complain about something stupid, like the absence of any advance announcement for the release date, instead of enjoying this beautiful thing that is finally happening. Credit to 3 for the pic.

The 3DS eShop is going HAM too: Attack of the Friday Monsters? Shantae (GBC)? Have you ever felt so alive? Has the future ever promised so much?
