Vaseline

To all my fellow babes/dudes with eczema

Here are two things that have helped my severe eczema that I’ve acquired since last year, over the course of like 2-3 months.

1) Regular ass Vaseline.

Yes, the product our parents used to slap all over us in the mornings before school that had us looking sweaty all day. THAT vaseline. According to the National Eczema Association, products that come in a ointment form (clear, oily) are better for your skin than products that come in a creamy form (lotions and creams) because the ointments help the skin to retain moisture better. Also, lotions (especially the ones that come out of a pump) and creams contain alcohols so that they are able to easily come out the pump and easier to spread, which can be drying to your skin, which is already dry as hell.

I just slap Vaseline on my skin right after I take a shower, like right after and then I either air dry or put on shea butter and then air dry, but my skin has felt so much more smooth and moisturized than it ever has when I used palmers coacoa butter (jar/tub), cetaphil (squeeze bottle), aveeno, basically any other lotion I have ever used.

2) Oatmeal Face Masks

I feel so dumb because like vaseline has been in front of my face my whole life, so has the rule to incorporate some form of oatmeal in my skin care regimine, but idk I guess I just wasnt paying attention (clearly). So first, I tried the Oatafix face mask by Lush on my face and body (mainly legs), and it cleared up the roughness on my face, but compared to the face mask I do now, it didn’t really make my enflamed areas on my legs go down, plus it stung a little on my face but i stuck through it (also because it smelled so good). So, since I didn’t wanna spend 9$ every three weeks on a small thing of product, I figured I’d make my own using oatmeal, water and honey. And boy… I could tell it works better for me because I used it on my legs and after one use they are no longer enflamed. All the welts and bumps I had from scratching over my clothes have gone down bruh. Like omg.

Forgive me if these techniques are old/obvious because they new as hell to me! lol Good luck if you haven’t tried, and enjoy. I hope this helps
