Discarded Books Transformed into Quirky Planters

If you love books and fancy succulents, then combining the two seems like a perfect pairing. Paper Dame transforms vintage books into quirky decor objects that display a colorful arrangement of small plants. Each book has a rectangular portion cut out, and they’re lined with a waterproof seal to keep the rest of the book safe. See all of Paper Dame’s planters on Etsy.

Miles from any classroom, in the middle of Northern Nevada’s Black Rock Desert, Dana Albany, a “book sculptor,” creates a massive sculpture of the human body. It is composed of out-of-date textbooks and discarded library books. She names this giant figure: Body of Knowledge. It is burned to the ground. No one objects.
