Castello di Miramare (Miramare Castle), Trieste, Venezia Giulia, Italy

The building of the Miramare castle dates back between 1856 and 1860. It was the favorite residence of Maximilian of Habsburg, brother of Franz Joseph, Emperor of Austria, during his stay in Italy, as Viceroy of north-eastern Italy, until 1859-1866 ruled by Austria.

He was offered to become the Emperor of Mexico in 1864. He was later shooting by republican Mexican Army in 1867.

One of the most amazing sites I´ve discovered lately is the Grotta Gigante behind Triest(e) in Italy. It´s HUGE and you have to see it.
I have no lens, not even a fisheye, that can capture the size of this cave.
Maybe somebody has to shoot a Gigapixel-Pano!

The colors are pushed unnaturally to get greater contrast and depth into this flat projection.
